I am in South Florida and planned on using the stress blend in October and then a 0-0-60 for Nov-Feb. Would I be able to use the stress blend straight through February or should I stick to my original plan?
So I started with milo in the spring. My soul test came back with depleted N and P. It has been awesome with the Milo. So now I’m at the point of what to throw down next. We are in the end of may temps have been not that hot yet. Any recommendations.
The app is often incorrect, I had to use my calendar in the app and put my dates in myself. I prefer stress blend out of dormancy in spring and late before it frost over. In between I think it's up to you and your lawn. Last year I did flagship all summer, this year I'm gonna use Double Dark in the summer. Even over 100 degrees here we can still put down some nitrogen safely
You'll neve need Milo again if you add a soil suplement like RGS. I used Milo for years but its just too expensive and at the current price point there are superior alternatives. Strees blend/Flagship/Freedom have worked great for me for 2 seasons, don't think I'll be swapping anytime soon
I use a professional lawn company to fertilize my lawn all year, but this year my lawn looks horrible, I’m not sure if it was the late frost or what, I have Bermuda grass and don’t know what to do.. I have at least a 10x10 bald spot in my yard
Can I use potassium all year when my St Augustine is struggling. Evidence of chlorosis and doesn’t seem to be grabbing nitrogen or iron and appears not lush in some areas. Ruled out watering, and grubs. Sent in soil sample. Thanks
My calendar on your app says I can throw down flagship just about every month but the bag says to only apply 4 times in Florida. I have mainly st Augustine grass, do I follow your app calendar or the bag???
The app will have you switch to Stress Blend at some point. You can apply either Stress Blend or Flagship every 4-5 weeks as long as the lawn is growing.
Cool season, in CO, and have soil test results in the app, but some conflicting info on this video compared to what the app told me. I just put down Stress Blend, as that's what the app said. But this video is saying Flagship and come summer use Stress Blend for cool season grass? Which is correct? Thank you.
In MI and in exact same situation. I think it's due to the deficiencies identified by the soil test that supercedes the normal pattern described in this video. I'd love to have YM confirm this.

I took the my soil test and it recommended for me to use the stress blend since I’m lacking nitrogen, potassium and micro nutrients. I live in MN cool season tall fescue. Can I use flagship first as recommended and then stress blend?
??? I feel like my upcoming 2nd application up here in NJ (mid-late May), is kind of in between Flagship and Stress blend. I'm on the fence but leaning toward Stress blend. I applied Flagship and Prodiamine Pre in early April, so I'm also wondering if I should be applying Pro/Pre again fer this throw down? Lawn looks amazing, just losing a touch of deep green and I pick maybe 2-3 dandelions a day. Advice?
if you have prodiamine on hand, you can apply another app now for sure. For the fert, it really depends on your desire to mow. The Flagship will keep things moving and youll still need to mow often. The Stress Blend won't push as much growth but still keep the lawn pretty green.
Stress blend now is great. If you want sometnig a little different in summer, try Double Dark. It's got much higher iron and lower nitrogen. bermuda will love it.
I'm going to use Yard Mastery instead of Andersons on my Bermuda this season. I've been using Andersons 10-101-10 Balance, buy Yard Mastery uses 7-0-20 Stress Blend as a first app for the season. Is there a comparison out there I can check out?
Hey Allen, I did a soil test on my way up North (North Dakota) cool season grass, and my lawn is VERY low in N and VERY VERY high in both P and K. What should I throw down that is mostly or all Nitrogen?
Up here in New England, have just ordered my soil test and getting ready. Temps are between 70 degrees one day and 28 degrees another overnight high! Soil temp is 42 degrees! Almost ready to throw down!
Great content! Your app wants me to lay down the stress blend this week. Then today it switched to flag ship, even though I hadn’t completed stress blend. I bought the large stress blend because it showed me using it at least twice this year - now it ONLY shows Flagship. What’s going on?
the app will adjust recommendations based on soil temps. For warm season lawns it will recommend stress blend in spring and flagship towards later spring and summer. You can and should still use the stress blend that you have on hand. It will work just fine.
Early April would he good. If you get our app it will give you better timing based on soil temperatures in your city. yardmastery.com/pages/yard-mastery-app-download
Threw down the rest of the stress blend in January an the rest of the milo last weekend. From here on out its Flagship this year! The Saint Aug in Pasco didn't check out this year! So its time too push it!
I’m in San Antonio and just put down promiadine yesterday. Was thinking of going with stress blend next week, then in mid march going with the flagship. I have a Bermuda/st aug blend. Thoughts? Thanks
yes that's an excellent strategy. Will get your lawn of to the best start. It's tough dealing with SA and bermuda mixed but alot of us have to deal with that.
@@yardmastery the st Aug has pretty much won the backyard, but Bermuda is about 80% of front. I tried fighting it, but am just embracing it lol. Thanks
Do any of your products contain Sulfate of Potash instead of Muriate of Potash? Asking for the people with high chloride content that can't use or want to avoid muriate of potash (potassium chloride) due to potential toxicity issues with the chlorides.
My soil sample said two applications of stress blend to start the year (cool season lawn) and then follow up with freedom, so this won’t start with to much Nitrogen, does that seem ok (I was low on nitrogen and potassium)
@@yardmastery definitely happy I went through the comments in this video. I couldn’t understand why it recommended two applications of stress blend either. Now I know it’s because of the soil kit. Good to know. I do have one question though, it was giving me 2 applications of freedom and two of flagship through the soil test recommendation but under calendar, it only tells me to “thrower down” once each. Which should I follow?
App recommended "granular biostimulate" in early april. Can we use this with milorganite? We are in northern IL. I saw your milorganite vid and thought we should try it...
Milorganite has quite a bit of nutrients in it. A better option for granular bio-stimulant would be this one here yardmastery.com/collections/jonathan-green/products/love-your-soil%C2%AE#

I've never know anyone that has Bahia grass on their lawn. Is this actually a thing? I'm genuinely curious if it's limited to a very specific region in the south.
For cool season Why do you recommend the flagship high nitrogen in the spring when the grass is going to take off anyway without it. I’d be mowing every day to keep up with it if I gave it that much N in the spring.
My strategies are designed to get the lawn thicker and you do that by encouraging growth when the lawn already wants to grow. Like a bodybuilder taking supplements to pump up his workout. As far as mowing, the app rate only yields .75lb/N/1000 (50% slow release) which isn't enough to cause a flush of growth, rather, sustained effects over 30-45 days. Give it a try and see, the color you get is amazing.
@@Nick210 not that I have to explain to you, my response was placed at the top when I intended to place it as a response to a comment further down the thread.
Just ordered Stress blend...love supporting small businesses..its the American way
Can i apply flagship on my st augustine?
Ordered Stress blend yesterday. Love that it now has ammonium sulfate as it works better on my lawn.
How long after applying Milo can I put down Flagship and not worry about burning.
I recommend you wait at least a month

Is it worth putting down the stress blend if grass went dormant already ?
it's best to wait if the lawn is dormant. Once things start growing again, and you are mowing, then you can apply the Stress Blend.
