I lost my right arm just below the shoulder in a farming accident when I was 16. Figuring out how to put on my bra was by far the most difficult thing I went through, but with patience, and a very helpful sister, we figured it out. Thanks for all your helpful videos, keep on making them in the future.

Thank you SO much for the tips on putting on the shorts. I lost my arm a year ago and have been sticking to leggings and dresses because I could not figure out buttons or zippers. You're awesome for providing these videos for people like me. So inspiring!

Thank you for your videos, I do have both my arms but due to injuries and nerve issues my main arm is almost completely lame now and going in for major surgery (which may or may not be successful). From an extremely active person to someone who cant even hold a cellphone I can only imagine how rough it is with the complete loss of an arm. Living alone without anyone to help, your videos are an inspiration. With the right mindset and determination, its amazing to see what can be achieved. I took a chance at seeing if there was anyone out there who has tips on how to do simple tasks such as tying up hair one handed and was completely surprised to find your videos. Had plenty nightmares on how to even manage a bra and almost sunk into despair considering just shaving all my hair off deciding there will be no way to tie it up one handed. Thank you for being you, thank you for helping others. Thank you for showing us that we can still have pride, look good and be functional.

Hi Megan! I'm actually an OT student, and in our classes, we've been stumped on how to put a bra on with use of one hand. Watching your videos has really shown me that you can't teach the exact same techniques to everyone and expect them to work. It's different for everyone. Have a great day! -Katie

    What a fantastically useful video!
I had a period of about 3 months when my shoulder was dislocating over 50 times a day. There was so much I was unable to do, including dressing and undressing myself. My wonderful husband did those tasks for me. Some of the techniques you used would have been so helpful to know then!
Thank you for such a practical demonstration.

I spent a year in a coma septicemia senior and I only had access to one side of my body at first when I came out. I thought your videos were really interesting and it's amazing how a human beings we adapt to our environment and find a way to make things work. I like to walk I learned to talk I meant to do all the things that was taken away from me because of the coma and I made a full recovery apart from a contractor in my knee and extreme pain. I'm extremely lucky to be here and inspired by people like you.

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you for posting about how to get dressed with one hand, my daughter was born with one hand and she’s getting ready to start puberty and I was worried about how to help teach her to put on a bra for herself and I think what you showed me will really help! I’m sure it wasn’t comfortable showing all that but it has really been informative and I hope to use your tips.

After watching some of your videos I've tried to do some "two-hand-tasks" around the house with just one hand and it's SO hard!! I definitely makes me appreciate some of the things I do on a daily basis without even thinking about it.
I'm wondering how you can wash your hand, like when it really needs a good scrub?

I myself am so fortunate as to not have any missing limbs and to be able bodied, but I really enjoy watching your videos. I think it is truly a beautiful thing that you are doing. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for amputees to adjust to life and doing simple activities like these. You are helping so many people and I reaaly do admire what you are doing. If I were ever to break an arm or, God forbid, lose one these would be so helpful. Keep doing what you're doing. It's amazing.

I had surgery yesterday and cannot use my left arm for several weeks so this weekend I looked up how to hook a bra one handed and found your video. Great idea, so I tried it, and totally failed. My husband and I laughed ourselves silly. Your method doesn't work with H cup breasts because you can't see the hooks or lift the breast out of the way. :-) It was soooo funny! Truly a wonderful, light moment in our lives as we were preparing for the small challenges ahead. I did eventually accomplish the task using a combination of this and some other methods I saw online. And I truly appreciate the tips for tying shoes and dressing. So thanks for several things! I'm going to watch your other videos.

Thank you so much Megan! I have obstetrical brachial plexus injury which has made my left arm short and very limited in how I can use it. When I was eight years old I couldn't tie my own
shoes but my five year old brother was already tying his. My dad hired a well known one armed baseball player to come to our house and show me how he could tie his own shoes with just one arm. He said it will be easier for me, and he proceeded to teach me how to use my right arm to place my left arm where I needed it so I could tie my shoes. This worked and it changed my life.
Having these types of physical limitations teaches us to think outside of the box about many other things. 💖

Thank you so much for this! I may have elbow surgery soon and have been worried about how to put pants on afterward with an immobile arm. I don't have stretchy/elastic pants, just slacks for work, and this has been very helpful. I would also put the belt into the belt-loops before putting on the slacks...probably laying it all on the bed and doing that the night before, just to save time each morning. Again, thank you so much!

Thank you so much for making this video. I am sure it has helped so many individuals. I actually found this video for my 4 year old. She was curious to know if people with one limb could do all the same things as people with two. She also wanted to know if you were sad. Because I couldn’t answer these questions for her I found this video hoping it would have a few answers - which it did. Your matter-of-fact comment that you had lost your arm seemed to even answer her question of happiness, at least for the time being. You are not just instructing people with an amputated/broken arm or stroke, but teaching very impressionable people how to see difference without limitations. Thank you.

Its great to see you adapt to losing an arm. I understand. I myself had a stroke 1 and a half years ago at the age of 41 and lost the use of my left Arm and left leg, now im in a wheelchair and i had a lot of therapy so i can dress myself but it takes such a long time. It's hard to get used to how slow I do things now but that's life. Keep up the good work.

Hi Megan, I randomly stumbled across your channel. It’s awesome and such a great thing to do .
I have a story that still haunts me from about 15 years ago .
Where I worked we had a cleaner who had lost the same arm at the shoulder . I spotted that he had emptied a plastic trash can and was struggling to stretch a new black bin bag across the top. I mean it’s difficult enough with two hands .
Trying to be helpful I wandered over and I’m sure you have already guessed what I’m about to say “ do you want a hand mate”. He just looked up and stared at me. I could have died !!!
Genuine story and hope it doesn’t offends anybody but I wasn’t trying to be funny . I learn a life lesson that day .
Hope to see more of your videos .

Beautiful woman! I noticed when she was taking care of her sleeve just how agile her right hand is. I couldn't do that nearly as quickly, not to even get started on single-handed buttoning on the shorts. A great hint about how to get the zipper done by pressing up against something to hold one side down. Necessity is the mother of invention.

This is super helpful! Thank you so much! My right arm has nerve damage from a dog attack ages ago and is usually alright, but bad days mean I can only use it as leverage. I will definitely try the zipping up a hoodie trick! I've been avoiding wearing them altogether on days my arm isn't working.
Do you have any suggestions or tips on push brooms or mopping? I do custodial work, so bad days have me using one arm and my other shoulder or neck to sweep and mop, flipping up chairs one-handed, and tieing trash bags with one hand. (I get boss-man making remarks that he can't have me working there if I can only use one arm even though I get all my work done, so anything you can think of would be awesome!) 💗

A weighted base with a telescopic pole close to the side of the base. That has a hook or a clip to hold the clothing at the top of the pole. A longer pole with clips at different positions to help put on shirts bras pants shorts underware even for socks. A few some ideas for you. An adjustable shoe port that you slide your shoe into that hooks the toe portion of the shoe to allow you to slip your foot inside to put on your shoe could be added to the base which an individual can manipulate in order to put both shoes on easily. With a shoe string V pincher to secure the shoe lace to help tie the shoe. Have an adjustable clip to clip clothing at shoulder hight on the pole so an individual can slip an arm into a button up shirt with a easy button key used to help button up the shirt. 😊

I love your channel, so I hope this doesn’t come off as offensive in any way.. but I’m just genuinely curious, when you get a manicure/acrylics at a nail salon do they charge you less? or do you have to pay the full price? (I really hope they charge you less)

The things that suck about this is that your not able to put a shirt on without messing your hair or makeup but it’s so cool how you’ve learned to do this!

Though I'm fully able bodied, I'm its purely amazing how you do all that. As a person who has put a bra on with both hands, I always wondered and figured some else would have to put you in one if you had one arm. Now I know. Megan. . . You are amazing.

Most of these tricks are really clever :) and yes yes as everybody already stayed, you are really beautiful lady. It has to be hard living as amputee but congrats. Guys remember for her some stuff is far more difficult then for us with both arms, and i bet some of those thing she does better then us with two hands :) so great great, just keep on going girl :)
