As i had a new TV last year. So I didn't go for the TV as mine is nice already. I got the Aky streaming instead. It basically the same but without the screen. Got a really good deal as well. Only downside is on the My list you have to go through all the old listing of a program until you get to the last one. The option to choose ot show only the last weeks worth, shows up but wont play when you click on it. The only other thing I don't like is the wife moaning that BBC Iplayer can take up to 4 hours to be accessable through the catch up. So she can watch her bloody Eastenders ffs.
I decided to buy the Philips TV in the end, just ordered it now, that is the same model as Sky Glass with additional features and without all the Sky interference and being stuck with Sky. Sky Glass rang me to ask me if I wanted to proceed with the order. They asked me why I didn't want to? I went into a long-ranged list on why I didn't. They even tried selling me the TV without Sky, I was thinking are you kidding right? LOL! Then I told them, I won't be ordering it without Sky as the TV would be pretty useless and not worth the price they wanted for a TV with no special features. I think an element of them were grateful for pointing out all the reasons why I didn't but at the same time when I was giving amazing reviews about the Philips TV and compared it back to the Glass, at times I felt like they didn't like the total honesty LOL! I did say to them, if they developed the Glass into a 2.0 version or updated the whole entire system to more my likening and giving customers that get out of jail free card if they wanted to upgrade in the future where the TV would be sold with all the special features, instead of people having to pay for the special features. I did make a big deal about Amazon Fire Stick and Cube being more compatible with the Glass. The girl on the phone, did make a positive noise about that, which I guess customers have been bringing it up saying, make it fully compatible with the remote/volume etc. I did make a big deal about them charging for the Dolby vision and atmos. I said Sky shouldn't be charging for this. It should be a feature implemented into the TV as the TV not a Sky service. I said that was a major turn off, and she seemed like she noted it. Let's see if they change the model of it and take our reviews and opinions on board. She did say, she was having a management meeting later on, and said she would take my comments into that and hopefully that will reach the people at the top, to make the Glass an attractive proposition for everybody. =}
Got sky Q which i really like with a sky Devialet sound box which is dolby sound +,which sounds really good. From what I have heard I'm better off with those than with sky Glass
Has anybody found a way to use Amazon Firestick with Sky Glass? Currently in the process considering purchasing a Sky Glass TV outright. After some research, there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer anywhere, which is putting me off. I have seen somebody vaguely say, you can use a USB-A to USB-C type adaptor which will power the Firestick, unsure if that is the only method using the Firestick with Sky Glass. And a lot of people are saying they have volume issues as well with the Firestick on Sky Glass, with them saying only Sky Glass can control the volume no other devices can. Unsure if there is a way around changing the volume. Any Firestick/Sky Glass experts around? =}
Hi there exie, Firecubes work fine fire sticks will need a power source I’m pretty sure the usb c may work for power but it’s designed for the camera sky will bring out at some point and no the volume buttons on the fire remote work work the tv there are no remote codes for sky glass yet and not even an Alexa skill. Thanks for watching like and subscribe
@@ReviewBoxUK I noticed you mentioned you have a Fire Cube in this video, I guess you have your Fire Cube connected to your Sky Glass, and it works absolutely perfectly? If so, that will give me more confidence to get the Sky Glass TV. Because I do like Sky TV and to emerge it with other services like Amazon Fire Cube makes the TV a lot more worthwhile. Thanks for answering my questions, really appreciate it. I gave you a like and subbed to you, I noticed you do a lot of Sky Glass videos, which are really helpful.
@@iEXeCuTe hi yes it all works fine apart from controlling the volume as there are no IR codes for the tv yet anything plugged it to the hdmis work how they should. Thank you for liking and subscribing
@@ReviewBoxUK You're very welcome! Thank you for making very good content, which is very insightful and knowledgeable. I am not 100% sure what I am going to do. I am looking at this Philips TV, with all the features Sky Glass has and it includes atmospheric rear cinematic lighting in line with what you are watching or playing, gaming wise. Bright mood lighting basically. Ultra 4K, which I believe you need to pay for on the Glass for the best picture + Dolby Atmos etc, which is free with this Philips TV I am liking. Obviously with it being Black Friday tomorrow, the offer is £200/300 less than the Sky Glass, plus you get that freedom with your TV where you can buy devices and don't have Sky interfering, and obviously with the Fire Stick or Cube, you can get the NOW TV app which has all the Sky exclusives that make Sky expensive which is cheaper on NOW TV. So, I think I may dodge the Sky Glass TV. I am still intrigued with the development of Sky Glass, because I think the idea of it is good and smart, but just needs a lot of work on it, to balance out the cons if you get what I mean. The main element that kills off my interest, is that they want extra money from you for the special features that come with other TVs of the same spec, if you stop paying Sky the TV pretty much operates as a plain jane type of TV, so if you want to buy a new TV, it is hard to sell the Glass on unless the person who buys it loves Sky and is very dedicated to it. It feels like the TV is only good if you are a very loyal Sky customer. If you change your mind a lot, or you don't want the Sky service because the programming and selection of stuff isn't great for a couple of months then you are stuck with a TV that you need to pay Sky to keep it running. I think they have got some of it right with this TV and a lot of it wrong. Again, it is down to personal preference, it all depends on what makes you happy.
