بولمىسا
گۈللا بولسا گۈل ئهمهس، گۈلدەك پۇراقى بولمىسا،
گهپلا بولسا گهپ ئهمهس، مهزمۇن تۇراقى بولمىسا .
ئىككى پۇتلاپ ماڭىمىش ئېیىقمۇ بهزەن تىك تۇرۇپ،
ئهرلا بولسا ئهر ئهمهس، ئادەم سىیاقى بولمىسا .
ئادەمنى ئادەم ئهتكهن ئۇنىڭ ھۆسنى ئهمهس،
ھۆسنى بىر سۈرەت ئىرۇ دىلنىڭ چىراقى بولمىسا .
بىر مىسالى پانۇسنى كۆر، شام چىراقسىز یورىماس،
نۇر چاچامدۇ شام چىراغ، پىلىكى، یاغى بولمىسا.
Bolmisa
Gülla bolsa gül emes, güldek puraqi bolmisa,
Gepla bolsa gep emes, mezmun turaqi bolmisa.
Ikki putlap mangimish ëyiqmu bezen tik turup,
Erla bolsa er emes, adem siyaqi bolmisa.
Ademni adem etken uning hösni emes,
Hösni bir süret iru dilning chiraqi bolmisa.
Bir misali panusni kör, sham chiraqsiz yorimas,
Nur chachamdu sham ciragh, piliki, yaghi bolmisa.
Abdurehim Tileshüp Ötkür (May 1923 - October 1995) was a popular Uyghur author and poet who is considered the "father of modern Uyghur poetry".
Ötkür was arrested in 1944 and detained for a year for his support of the Three Districts Revolution. Following the incorporation of Xinjiang into the People's Republic of China in 1949, the freedom of poets and writers was restricted.
The repressive environment might have prevented him from publishing any poetry books between 1949 and 1968. But other sources state that he might have been imprisoned for long periods in that timespan.
Abdurehim Ötkür first published his poems in 1940. The poems "Tarim Boyliri" ("Along Tarim") and "Yürek Mungliri" ("Melodies of the Heart") were very popular. His last novels, Iz (The Track) and Oyghanghan Zimin (The Awakened Land), became some of the most popular novels among Uyghur people.
