It's all fun and games until you realize the market just 'freaked out' because they'll have to pay income tax. This affects those earning above 750k BRL/year or a bit more if earning over 1.2M BRL/year. For comparison, the minimum wage is projected to be 19.5k BRL/year in 2025, and the tax they will pay is even less than what the middle class pays-way less.
Despite the market's fear, Lula remains the most popular Brazilian president and is currently the most likely candidate to win in 2026, whether you like his populist policies or not
This. People just love to hate Lula because they think they are "the rich". Ita honestly pathetic.
Brazil should heavily tax exports so local producers have to sell to internal markets, favoring the people of Brazil instead of foreign markets. Also, industrialize our economy.
Brazil has been the worlds greatest farm for too long. And our rotten farming sector takes public loans to invest in their business and sell overseas.
This is the perspective of the future, but the current economic census is favorable, Brazil still has many privileged classes, including military and politicians.

Every Brazilian, even those who voted for Lula, knew that his government would de disastrous. People voted on Lula not because they believed him.
