Whoah, Dartz's speech was oddly fitting for abridged-Pharaoh, at least.
It's funny how Dartz was hating on his waifu and all of humanity for turning into monsters and stuff, when he himself went and turned into a monster 10000 years later. Y'know the whole fusing himself with Leviathan or whatever? Yugi's right. "Orichalcos" really is ancient Greek for "hypocrite".
Pretty much but difference here is that, him being a monster is more of being with Leviathan and continuing his quest since Leviathan to him isn't just some monster and they're still trying to end humanity and shit. This is more like Dartz resorting to Plan B and being one with the Oricalcamalos or some BS. Also doesn't change the fact that Abridged Yami does suck as a person/hero even after Season 4 though we only had one S5 episode so far.

I kinda love how Dartz in this episode manages to be at the same time hilarious yet disturbing. His breaking speech to Atem really hits hard, and I know it the scene where he reveals he ruined his minions' life is meant to be silly, but... there's something unsettling about how laugh about it like a good joke.

You know what really stands out to me? The fact that so many fans don't know about his depression. In this episode he addresses how hard it is and how it can feel as if dealing with an enemy that makes things up on the file.
I get that most people will come for the Abridged series alone, but all of us should at least take the time to view one of his "We're still here" videos. This man deals with a lot and sometimes saying something as small as "You're doing great, stay strong" would be nice. I watch a lot of his videos and there's some where LK can barely hold back tears. We should at least consider being there for him as well.

@niserresin2006 It's good character development for Yami in both versions, but abridged points out the plotholes before you trip over them or tear up your car.
And as they said, the set pieces are top notch. Not to mention the emotions felt when you see Pharoh lose and Joey actually being a beast throughout.
Dartz' speech to Yami is surprisingly more effective here than the actual anime. And that's saying a lot cause we've gone through characters spouting out friendship

I have to say how beautiful this was.
The power of friendship showing up to save the Pharoh, and him agknowledging he may not deserve it even as it's saving him. It's a moment of grace and humility that hits more powerfully than I think I've ever seen, in large part because of how perfectly Dartz' breaking speech hit.
The timing and sound design adds to the effect of this moment, and you really believe there's something powerful and profound backing him up. It's a moment that's deserved and earned, and my favorite in the series.
I know you haven't heard enough good things about this moment, because no one could ever say enough good things about this moment. Thank you for bringing it to us.
I love that scene. It's genuinely a great scene and tbh better than the original since in this version the pharoah is a flawed character for dartz to talk down. The music and directing is well done. Honestly such a good scene.

Man, Dartz’ speech at 21:22 was really solid. The writing there was actually pretty compelling. How Takahata somehow managing to make Dartz somehow menacing and credible through that ridiculous voice is a testament to how good of an actor he is.
I know right??? You really gotta appreciate when the abridged writers actually stop the gags and really give the original source material its due. Yugi almost surrendering was a pretty big deal.

I forgot just how broken literally all of Dartz's cards were in the anime. Then again most things were completely broke by season 4 really. The Robot Armour guy was a perfect example.
Something I find amusing is some of the weird additional effects his Serpent has, like having to mill 10 cards from his deck to Attack with it. While anime Geh doesn't allow you to lose until it's destroyed, it also means you get like 3 attacks at most with it before just sitting there doing nothing while your opponent can draw and pass until they just get any basic removal. It basically requires having a way to get around your opponent just playing a defense monster per turn.
I just find anime filler hilarious because they try to make such imposing opponents out of decks that probably don't work well after you think about them for 5 minutes.

21:10 Putting aside how silly it is, this is actually really well done. I know people call this season filler, but to me it actually had some of the best character development for Atem. We see him give into his pride, we see him fail, we see him grieve. He isn’t as much of a cheat code and more of a character, that’s why I like this season.
This season has some cheesy stuff in it but it's not actually filler. I know it's not in the manga but the manga and anime are vastly diffrent. For example in the manga Pegasus died, they cut out the majority of the punishment games leading to people's twisted death or Kaiba being comatose, all of Death T was skipped and you don't see Kaiba anymore after he loses in Battle City he and Mokuba dissapear from the manga. The only part I would consider filler is Grand Prix because the animation in it is horrible.

It exists due to the Duel Monsters Anime starting on the Duelist Kingdom, not giving Atem's cruelty the spotlight since it was too dark. Toei Yugioh is a testament to that.
