Cool tip for extra ground clearance. Glad I ran across this. Would love to see videos any time you do something to your defender as I am wondering if I should make any mods to mine
TOTALLY EXCELLENT VIDEO! I just bought a Polaris Ace 570, am now at Moab, and wished I had even a little more clearance…this helped Me VERY MUCH! Thanks 😁
Just did a video on this. The pre-load adjusters only set ride hight and spring sag, and doesn't effect the internal valving or operation of the shock so it will still maintain a good ride unless you go less than 20% of the spring sag travel. Ground clerance is king
What do you mean by "unless you go less than 20% of the spring sag travel"? I'm about to do this, but want to keep my factory ride. Doing this will only raise all four corners but...? Thanks in advance!
Did you ride it and compress the suspension after you stretched it from jacking it up in the rear? Any vehicle you jack up will sit higher after lowered until the suspension settles.
Having a HD7 DPS delivered this week with dealer installed roof and my goal might be the opposite. Garage door clearance is about 80". Spec without roof is 76". Going to be a squeeze play.
You don't need a cheater bar the tool from the factory has a square cut into it to allow a 1/2 ratchet drive to fit it. No tire remove necessary or cheater bar need.
@@worldsokayesthunter haha. The way you edited looked like you slipped off the shock adjuster and punched the muffler or somethin and then got gloves. LoL Do you know if that wrench will work on Honda Pioneer 1000 shocks?
Thank you, been looking a tutorial for a while and you saved me.
Thank you for showing me this, I fixed my shocks today
It's a handy trick

You don’t have to take the rear tires off. Very easy to do it with out doing that.

Thanks for watching
What's that tool called and where can I get it?

Yes. It definitely sits higher after the adjustment.(it's not wildly higher, but definitely higher).

Good luck. Enjoy the new machine.
Anyone know where to find a 2” bracket lift for a 2024 hd9 max xt??
Thanks!!! I wonder what’s the max you can adjust safely without binding up axles?
How did that change the ride? I am guessing it got stiffer.
It did but not to a degree that you would think is stiff. Rides great.

At the 1:05 mark, did you bust a knuckle? Cuz at 1:08 you got gloves on and use two hands.
Been there, done that...
At 105 it was me filming and holding the wrench. At 108 was my buddy wrenching and he had the gloves on. Then the next day I finished on my own.

@Jesse Woody I bet it will. I've never worked on a Honda pioneer but I've seen several makes and the shock notches are all very similar.
Did the ride quality become rough after you made the adjustments?
Still rides like butter. Worth the bit of extra height imo
You could easily gotten a bracket lid for that
Where’d you get the tool to adjust them?
It comes with the buggy. It's in the glove box
@@worldsokayesthunter found it, thanks
What size wrench is it ??
The wrench comes with the buggy. Idk a size.
I did my rears with the tires on easily lol
You didnt move it after letting it back down, likely only gained about half your measurement
You don’t have to take rear wheels off
Now on to slapping bigger wheels on this puppy.
