    To any beatbox fans, please share this video around the community. This is one of the best vocal analysis/reaction channels we could hope for to cover solo beatboxing, and it will help bring recognition to all the amazing singing techniques beatboxers have been discovering recently as well as making more helpful information about singing technique available to beatboxers. Don't forget to suggest good beatboxing routines for singing technique analysis!

      Thank you so so so much Ryan 🥺 It has come to my attention that beatboxing pushes the boundaries of the human voice further than anything else I can think of. Creatively co-ordinating muscles, tissue, and resonating spaces. Combining speed and strength, rhythm and pitch, musicality and technique in a way that is truly unparalleled. It would be my honour to become a part of this community in some way! Hopefully as an anatomy identifier and vocal coach but moreover, a humungous fan!! 💜

    What an insightful and delightful video to watch! Definitely expands how much we beatboxers can appreciate about this artform, given that we're figuring out sounds as we hear them, and less so from an understanding of anatomy. Thanks for reacting to this! What you just saw was a one of MANY unique beatbox styles out there. "Gene | Metamorphosis | Grand Beatbox Battle Wildcard 2021" and "RIVER' | Grand Beatbox Battle 2021: World League Solo Wildcard | My Way" would be other good videos to check out. 3:19 Something to note about beatbox sounds is that not every sound is done by inhaling/exhaling. A lot of them are actually done without any breath at all so over here the clap is one example of that, SHOW-GO is using only his lips for the clap, meaning that his nose and his entire respiratory tract is actually free to do something else simultaneously like breathing in for breath control. It just takes a whole lot of muscle control and knowledge of your own facial anatomy and precision.
    There are also plenty of instances where they don't just breathe in normally, but incorporate inhaled sounds to gain more oxygen to continue which gives the illusion of them not needing to breathe. It's basically a beatboxer's version of circular breathing. The lip roll at 3:44 is an example of this; inhaling a big chunk of air for getting the flapping of the lips to create a subby bass, while simultaneously taking in the air that is used to cause the flapping. Doing that helped him seamlessly keep the beat going while filling up his lungs to continue beatboxing.

Check out Stitch "Feels Like Nothing" for some insane vocal sounds, River' "My Way" and Gene "Metamorphosis" for more crazy register maneuvers, Remix from South Africa for basses that won't even make sense and Den "Moments I Had" for a track that sounds like it's already on the radio. The clap sound, we call it BMG or Spit Snare. There are a lot of tutorials that explains it well. The sound comes from the lips so he’s able to use his vocals with it. One of the other sound he was doing that you asked about is called a lip roll. There are many variations and plenty of tutorials as well. Hope it helps clear a few things 🙃. You picked up on a lot of specifics that people usually miss. You were correct on the throat singing, the tongue and different vowels are used to change the timbre. The low lip bass thing is called a liproll, it's done with an inhale and there are many tutorials on TH-cam if you are interested in the specifics on any sounds.
    Also, the beatbox community is very niche still so a lot of creators are happy to chat, collab or just explain things. We want our community to grow and we welcome you!

    One of my favorite types of reactions to watch are from genuine experts, such as yourself. When someone has, as you said, dedicated their life to a particular craft, seeing someone do something truly amazing inside that space is mind blowing.
    I know that I (a retired chef) get a lot more out of watching someone do something amazing in the kitchen than the average person, even someone who's interested in the culinary field. By the same token, I, someone with a keen interest in music get a lot out of this performance, but it's nothing compared to what you get, since you know all the specific mechanics and intricacies of just what it takes to make those sorts of sounds.

      Recently River' posted a video that I'm sure you'll like. He's french, vice world champion last year, awesome guy too.
      Overall the GBB solo wildcards every years are amazing, you can discover really impressive artists with some particular sounds and technics.
      You'll absolutely love Gene (Shinozaki), definitely a huge artist, vocalist and musician.
      Some people have introduced some crazy technics over the years now used by many but Vocodah / Audical (same guy different name) is known for his inward bass. King Inertia as a reaaally deep bass too.
      I mean the scene now has evolved in the last years, it was way more focused on 1:30 format for battling against someone else. Now we have people creating tracks without this kind of constraints and really exploring voice boundaries.
      Reeps One which is from the UK too is an artist who's work in that direction and he is impressive too.
      There is so much to say about the evolution of beatbox in the last 13 years and I'm glad you've open the box, I hope you'll dig a bit in this because your technical approach and nerdyness about voice is lovely and not comparable to any one else on youtube for me so I'm very glad!

    Sho-go brought the "double voice" to the stage and gave it life. It's used so much in so many ways now but he is the first to master it in my opinion

    The fact you could understand so many diffrent beatbox techniques is amazing! ShowGo is deffintly a great start to beatboxing as his style is extermly musical.
    Others suggested addisional musical beatboxers such as Gene (who is another genius) or maybe Codefish. If however you want to drop into the dark side I would suggest cheking Max GBB 2021 wildcard or Azel - Demuth(VIP).
    Enjoy your beatbox journey, there is a lot of wild stuff out there :)

    Great analysis on this video. I think other people have said it in the comments but Stitch and Den are two great musical beatboxers you should check out. Stitches uses a polyphonic technique that makes him basically harmonize with himself and Den is just all around amazing. You should check out Sensations by Den.

    This was such a fantastic reaction, I had never seen this one myself but I love catching beatbox/loopstation videos and this was a banger. Love how you broke down the techniques and tried to replicate them! I think your analysis is spot on that they shrink-rayed instruments and installed them in their throat. It's the only real logical conclusion, case closed.

    2:45
    It's double voice! it's a flip from head voice to chest voice
    3:49
    this is spit snare, we don't use our throat, it's pushing air through VERY tightly pressed lips.
    it can be done without the diaphragm, allowing us to breathe through our noses (this is how we can beatbox and hum).
    4:10
    You got it! These are called lip rolls and they are done by inhaling through a space created one side of the mouth!
    6:44
    Beatboxers call it throat bass, but yeah it's basically Kargyraa. The subharmonic version of that is called vibration bass
    6:55
    Difficult sound to explain. They're called hollow clops. You say "luh" without vocalizing it, and a big open mouth
    Great video!! Loved how blown away you were!! Beatbox is magicccc

    • @robyd
      @robyd ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve been struggling with keeping hollow clops consistent. You explaining not vocalizing “luh” helped me out so much. Thank you for saying that.

    • @ryansmallwood1178
      @ryansmallwood1178 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could be mistaken, but isn't Throat Bass/Kargyraa technically already considered a kind of subharmonic? (Albeit produced differently to the technique people usually call subharmonics in bass singing, that's found between vocal fry and a normal singing voice.) And isn't vibration bass thought to be some kind of additional subharmonic on top of that?

    • @GibbyBeats
      @GibbyBeats ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ryansmallwood1178 you could be correct too. I'd definitely consider throat bass a type of subharmonic
      Vibration bass is definitely a subharmonic of kargyraa tho

    • @GibbyBeats
      @GibbyBeats ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@robyd you're welcome! What you can do next is to slightly inhale to generate suction right before you say "luh", and then release the "luh". Your tongue should snap to the bottom of your mouth ans create the hollow clop. Hmu if you have questions!

    Just an idea, but why not do an interview with a beatboxer and explore some of these techniques. Educate yourself (and us) on how they are done, and what the various techniques are called in the beatboxing community. Even if you can't find one locally, you could do a colab with one virtually. I'd love to see you do that. I believe it's one of those art forms where the more you know the more amazing it becomes.
