Top Drawer stuff Stu, I’m a guitarist of some 60 years and recently became addicted to the UKE. I searched and found your good self and boy am I enjoying playing along side you. You’re making an old guy very happy. Paul
Thank you so much! I decided to do a Advent-Special this year for my mum and Let it snow will be my first song. If I get it sprinkled with a few of your little specials until next week ....
Hi master Stuart, Chapeau. Following you for a couple of months now. Doing 'Let it Snow' in summer time... gave me great fun especially the bonus makes me so proud I can learn this. Thank you. Till soon life
Thanks for another great tutorial Stu. I love learning the jazz variations. Sorry I won’t be able to check in for the live Christmas jam. I’ll have to use the replay. Such an appropriate song for your local weather. No chance of snow here!
Cheers Stu, once again a great tut. Today, I should’ve been at a Uke Club Xmas Party, but we have a Covid outbreak close by and its put us in the firing line. I was beyond disappointed having to stay ‘safe’. No need to chance the obvious. This made me put aside my ‘shitty syndrome’ and enjoy the extra tuition. Appreciated so much.. Happy Aussie Christmas greetings.
Sorry to hear to of your club's party being cancelled Pamela - I'm happy my video & play along added some cheer to your day! All the best to you & your family, Stu
A D7 chord is made of a D, F#, A & C...those notes can be re-ordered t make different "voicing" on whatever instrument (or choir) they are being used for. The way the chord shows up on uke is commonly 2020 or 2223. Those are the most common open voicings. Chord construction is a BIG subject, but there's a bit of explanation for ya' 😉
@@UkuleleZen Yes, a D7 chord is made of a D, F#, A, C. But the 2020 shape has the note´s F#, A (double) and C. Not a D root note. For me is that not a D7 chord. I know about the idea, this is the A7 chord shape from a guitar. But here is the fifth string missing (open D string on the guitar) with the root note. I know you can replace the fifth by tetrachord or more options note by a fourth chord. For example, you can remove g and b from an A9 chord. But removing the root note, I am not sure about that.
I have a little music theory question for anybody who knows more than I do: how can a chord be a D7 chord if it has no D note in it? The barred version has A, D, F#, and C; but the version with two fingers only has A, C, F#, and A. Does a chord not need the root note to be considered that type of chord as long as it has the other notes?
That’s a very good question. If you are playing with a bass player, who is emphasizing the route, note of a chord, in this case, D, then you can leave out the route. When plane more complex, four and five, and even six note chords, often the roots and the fifths of the cords are left out, allowing, the colorful tones to be added. On a piano there’s no shortage of fingers to add all these notes, but on guitar and especially ukulele one Hass to make choices and sometimes that means leaving out the root note. Hope this explanation helps! All the best happy jamming… please subscribe for more videos like this 🙏🎶😃🙌

Hi Stu, what is that for a D7 Chord? I know you cant remove the fifth note. But the root note is unknown to me.

Hi, what type of uke are you playing?
In a jazzy vein, could you do a “Pennies From Heaven” tutorial?
I’ll work on that yes!
@@UkuleleZen I have been looking through all your tutorials. they are fantastic, and you make them so enjoyable and easy to follow!

SO glad you are enjoying it!
