    This is my WWI Diorama of a British Command Bunker, episode 1. I built this over 6 months in 2019, and documented most of the build. I combine new demonstrations with original footage to show you every step of the build.

    This is my first diorama where I thought about a multi scene story, instead of just a single scene or event. I had a blast building it over 6 months and will show you in 6 episodes starting with this one. Thanks and I hope you like it, Bill.

    holy moly, this is EPIC!! :O I love the idea of showing the underground bunker. my main goal when I build dioramas is to tell a story and this really captures that goal in my opinion! not to mention, the building skill is top notch.
    excellent job!

      Thanks Eugenio!!! I really like coming up with a detailed story that helps me work through the diorama when building it. Iy also helps when I need to make a decision about something because I always go back to the story and make sure it supports it. Thanks again for checking it out, Take Care, Bill

      Thanks Scott!!! This is my personal favorite Diorama. It was the first with lighting and an underground scene which I have done now on almost everything!! It was the first time I started thinking about a single storyline in a diorama. It was the first time I did resin casting making the pigeons...it was the first time for lots of stuff and it sort of showed me what was possible in a diorama, and set my path for what I do today. Thank You Scott!! Just taking a couple minutes to respond to you has been a fun little journey thinking about this diorama, and how it led me to striking out on this current path. Thats Awesome!!! Thanks Again Scott, Bill

      @@ScaleModelCraft I very thankful to have just happened to catch your short video of you working on Carlos. Somehow I was drawn to it. Now that I've seen your award winning dioramas, I'm glad I did.
      My model hero was Shep Paine. I was blown away by the work he did. I would definitely say that your work is on par with his. However my work is not quite up to speed. Age does have it's drawbacks. Lol.
      I really enjoy the work do. Learning how you do it and your personality.
      Thanks for taking the time to respond and I look forward to seeing your next video.

    • @ScaleModelCraft
      @ScaleModelCraft  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Scott!!! Shep Paine is my favorite also. I saw his dioramas and knew that was the way I wanted to show a model, but it was many years before I was able to even start as I couldn't figure out the ground texture. Even now with so many great dioramas out there, Shep is still the best because he concentrated on the figures to tell the story in his dioramas. One of my favorite quotes is by Geoffrey Chaucer, and used by Gustav Stickley, the great furniture designer from the turn of the last century, "The lyf so short, the craft so long to lerne." I looked it up and it's a translation from an even earlier Hippocrates quote, which to me makes it even more meaningful because of the time it spans. I just might have to do something with that quote in the shop. Take Care, Bill

    I want to do one whare the British are tunnelling through to lay the explosives on the other side of the German tranches, something like this the way you can see through!

    • @ScaleModelCraft
      @ScaleModelCraft  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Scottish Bonzai, I completely agree, I think the tunneling to plant the explosives would be a great diorama. I saw a show a couple years ago that said it was all white chalk, and very bright in the tunnels so that they only used candles and still sometimes went "snow blind" due to it.
