Yes. Honestly though, what stock can we really put in wrestling acting anyways? If it helps them create funny or interesting characters for themselves then so be it. There are plenty of gimmicks that are overdone to death but we never call them out because they're commonplace. The generic big heel that destroys baby face jobbers is the worst of the bunch. No one is impressed when they take out nobodies and nobody cares; but that gimmick just kept on going for forever and even until this day.
Joker Sting was the best! Steve hit it out of the park. This was Steve's best work on the mic out of his entire career. He was both hilarious and unsettling at the same time. He had a crazy, dangerous edge while still being flat out hilarioius. ("What hurts most are my feelings. You verbally abused me - you cursed at me!") Joker Sting was a great gimmick, and Steve made the most of it. I wish I could buy a DVD with every bit of Joker Sting on it. I never get tired of this stuff.
Actor? Nah, he's an entertainer. Always has been, and shows no signs of discontinuing his legacy with honor to his fans. Sting is the real deal. He does it for the fans, he loves it for the fans, and he used to be a fan. A natural athlete of nature driven to be the best... personality is his main attribute, but his love for his fans is boundless. I seen it in his eyes.
Joker Sting ruled! That may be my favorite Sting era. He was hilarious, but vicious at the same time. And Steve Borden really did a great job with it. He was ALL in, and he really came across as a little nuts (and a lot angry).
I mean, he just ripped off characters from the movies, which includes the Sting gimmick, since it was based off the Road Warriors, which were themselves ripped off from the MOVIE the Road Warrior. Kinda lame and unoriginal if you ask me, but he made them work and he was successful, so I'll give him that.
Heath Ledger found a lot of inspiration for his joker from Branon Lees Crow character. With Batman being popular as much as it is, this was bound to happen. And though it's not my favorite version of Sting - it's still Sting. #TheIcon #TheFranchise
Your point is what, exactly? That wrestling characters are inspired by other forms of entertainment? Welcome to pro wrestling, bro. You must be new to the sport, because that’s been happening for nearly 40+ years.
It's Heath Ledger's Joker mixed with Jim Carrey.... the "Liar Liar" moment where he has to admit the truth.... it's just a mixture of different stolen characters.
"it's just a mixture if stolen characters" you do realize that aren't many new things in the world many things that are"new" are mixtures of elements and he definitely makes his own thing.
+Juan Rivera Agreed, People are just so cynical about everything these days. I just try to enjoy things for what they are, Take them at face value most of the time and simply in the context of the platform where they're delivered. Steve's contribution mainly alongside only a handful of others were the only reason I would sometimes watch TNA/Impact personally. I think for the rest of the crew he had to work with and either a pretty cheap and/or just plain piss poor camera crew he did more than his part. Had he gone longer/more deep into it I think hints of Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) were there also in this area of his character and just waiting to be tapped into, It might of been great. As the saying goes 'If you copy from one person it is stealing, If you borrow from many it is research' and 'What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; There is nothing new under the sun' (I am not a religious person in anyway, shape or form but that one is still a valid statement in my humble honest opinion)
+Juan Rivera Now that's a sad commentary. Innovation thrives on disproving people like yourself. There's also a difference between something being based on something else, and downright plagiarism.
Let's all be honest here, I love Sting, but when the mid 90's came around and he realized he had to update his character he watched "The Crow" and copied the character. Literally, the first few times he used it he copied the facepaint almost exactly. Then he added a few more lines so as to not be a 100% ripoff. Then, more recently, he realized he had to change up his gimmick again, and he watched The Dark Knight, and he copied Heath Ledger's Joker. Anyone who thinks he's not implicitly copying Heath Ledger's Joker clearly isn't paying attention.
Sting pulled the Joker gimmick off with his Jim Carreyness. Most gimmicks are knock offs, people just seem to hate this one because it's more obvious. But it's unique to wrestling, and I might dare to say refreshing. Ambrose sure doesn't fill that role, oh man Dean sure is a insane, he's wearing jeans, that's just crazy, what a lunatic.
FierceViking Ambrose doesn’t nail the part better than Sting. Are you drunk? Ambrose walks around making goofy faces, while Sting can actually capture the voice & mannerisms of a babbling lunatic. Ambrose just acts like an emo teenager, while Sting laughs to himself like a man who escaped a psycho ward.
sting is awsome as always this guy has so much charisma ,great in ring and gold on mic that's why he is one of the greatest and most loved wrestler in wrestling history
Honestly i was not a huge fan of the "insane icon" era of sting. But 1 thing i like is that sting does change up his gimmick. wrestlers are generally change their standing in a company like i change clothes, daily. face, baby face, heel, anti-hero, and jobber. But they don't often re-brand themselves as a wrestler. even if sting did copy his gimmicks from popular movies, it was entertaining to see him play a new role. Like watching robert deniro in meet the faukers and then watching him in analyze this. its nice to see wrestlers change gimmicks.
Both, anything that makes this man shine is great in my book. And this segment is good. As people say he will make a great joker in the batman movie. When I was a kid I use to think it's the same actor playing in the Raven movie.
To this day I still can't see why some people were so against stings joker gimmick... He nailed it in my opinion.
Yes. Honestly though, what stock can we really put in wrestling acting anyways? If it helps them create funny or interesting characters for themselves then so be it. CoNoRmAcC I know
Yeah, I actually thought he did this do well.
CoNoRmAcC its what made this era tolerable. With out impact would have died
Sting was Great! The Joker Gimmick was GREAT
"These birds can smell garbage from a mile away" *bird jumps closer to inspect Bischoff* XD
härjaren Langstrumpf fantastic bird
Lmao
"Bischoff SOLD FOR THE BIRD!"
+Kevin Reilly Rofl! Made my day xD
Kevin Reilly "Stay away from me, bird!"
He recoiled in fear 😂😂😂😂😂😂
A GUARD BIRD!
“He may, in fact, still be in his office being held hostage by a bird!”
Sting is such a treasure. Only he could take a forgettable TNA ripoff gimmick and turn it into epic wrestling history.
This dude... is such a good actor... he needs to get to hollywood :D
I'd kill for sting to star in a movie... :| they let kanes garbage ass make a movie.
Samuel Castro He's been in a couple movies, but if you want to see them you have to search the independent Christian scene.
Ryan Palmer
:|
Samuel Castro the best actor in that scene was the damn bird... holy crap the bird was perfectly trained!
Robby Mason LOOOOL im dying

i liked joker sting
Rottz112 ĺ
joker sting was way better than suicide squad joker
Tatsuya Maker joker sting gets more TV time then Jarod Leto got in suicide squad
He should of been in that film
One is a rip off of Heath ledger Joker, the other is a fresh take on it.
*Amen,* brother. Ain't that the truth
I was gonna dispute that ... then I actually thought about it . You are are correct .
Sting was hilarious in this set of backstage vignettes, was cracking up the entire time
"HE SOLD FOR THE BIRD"
-Bryan Alvarez
He dresses like Heath, Talks like Joaquin, and acts like Nicholson's joker.
And kills Letos Joker.
And ad libs like Carey.

one of Sting,s best gimmicks i loved it amazing

Joker Sting was amazing. He pulled this off very well.
Looking back, I thought it was a disrespectful gimmick for a legend like Sting.
But Sting played the role very well.
+balancer182 I heard the gimmick was Sting's idea.
thievesarmy Or he likes to pay homage to great characters.
The Crow Sting was after Brandon passed, then this Joker after Heath Ledger passed.
No one else could have pulled it off except Sting
reggie felder : not suicide squad bitc is BATMAN THE DARK KNIGTH
The Warrior was a far right notjob. He was the Donald Trump of pro wrestling.
I love Sting Joker Gimmick. Its pure gold
Stings character changes throughout his career are probably the greatest in wrestling history.
Love The Joker Sting. It is amazing how he can reinvent himself. good to be a wrestling fan right now.
I'm surprised it worked very well having a real crow in the set, plus, so good that the crow just flew to the computer spontaneously
And when it flew closer to Eric when he said "Stay!"...give that bird a raise xD
"Well, if The Crow worked so well, let's try other movie character..."
+Hugh Mason Then he just copied the Joker
+Hugh Mason Beating a high Jeff Hardy on PPV or jobbing to Hunter at WM main event? hmm let me think...
Heath Ledger found a lot of inspiration for his joker from Branon Lees Crow character. With Batman being popular as much as it is, this was bound to happen. And though it's not my favorite version of Sting - it's still Sting. #TheIcon #TheFranchise

Daniel Ryan DanileRyan
It's Heath Ledger's Joker mixed with Jim Carrey.... the "Liar Liar" moment where he has to admit the truth.... it's just a mixture of different stolen characters.
"it's just a mixture if stolen characters" you do realize that aren't many new things in the world many things that are"new" are mixtures of elements and he definitely makes his own thing.
Sting has always reminded me of jim Carey

Wush & Boon do you like Star Wars and Indiana Jones?
Stinger is the Legend
sting looks like joaquin phoenix's joker in that suit
Joker Sting was so great. It's like if Jim Carrey was in Dark Knight instead of Heath Ledger.
joker sting was hilarious, sting had so much fun playing it that the rest were a little scared
This is when Impact was amazing!!
i loooovveee sting!! he´s pure entertainment!

He must watch a lot of movies, he came up with the Razor Ramon gimmick after seeing Scarface. I love how he blended both Tony and Many.
OmegaKingHyperionPX9 it's actually true.
Always loved Sting but, Sting as the joker was so much fun!!!!

He played the dark vigilante like batman and the joker character . He's so talented .
