    Please put a coating of hi-temp foundry cement on the ceramic blanket of your foundry! The small filaments of the ceramic blanket are being shed off & flying out of the foundry. Those filaments are VERY dangerous to your lungs. Wearing a good respirator will help, but the cement coating will greatly reduce the amount of ceramic dust flying out and into the air.
    Stay safe brother,, and keep learning the art of melting!

      Yeah I read about the hazards of the ceramic recently and am investing in some refractory cement to coat. I appreciate you looking out for me though! We need more of that on the internet.

    Why don't you remove droz? That kept me from subbing

    • @backyardfoundry
      @backyardfoundry  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What is droz?

    • @walter2990
      @walter2990 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@backyardfoundry Droz is the term used for the impurities that you were skimming, on the top of the melted metal. Skimming it off before you pour, will make it easier to pour, and make your ingots look better too.

      @@backyardfoundry Dross (not droz) is all the not-aluminum stuff that floats on the top - like burnt paint, dirt, etc. Your ingots have a lot of crap in them. If all you are doing is making ingots then you don't have to worry about it. If you're going to make anything out of those ingots you will need to remove the dross first. Casting with dross laden metal will always give you a bad result.
