What is the name of the oldest place in Punjab after Harappa? You must be thinking, not Lahore Multan or any other at all. Bhera is a tehsil of Sargodha district of Punjab. You will say no, it is only five hundred years old, it was settled by Sher Shah Suri. No, New Bhera or Old Bhera got confused. Let me explain. This is New Bhera on the eastern bank of Jhelum river. This is New Bhera of Delhi and Lahore. A beautiful historical city built in style, the name of this city has many stories. Walking around the city, you will see old sundar ruins surrounded by new roads and buildings. So begins the story of Bheera's greatness, believed to be from the time of BC. The present Bheera was settled on the eastern bank of the Jhelum River by Sher Shah Suri about five hundred years ago when the Mughals conquered the old Bheera on the western bank of the Jhelum River. It was destroyed. Old Bhera, which today is called Bharariyan, is located in the form of dunes near Ahmedabad village in Jhelum Tehsil Pind Dadan Khan. It used to be the capital of Bhera kingdom thousands of years ago. She was the sister of the Raja of Bhera. On one side of this city, the salt mountains stood like a strong wall, and on the other side, the Jhelum river protected the same city, and on one side of it there was a dense forest and thus a protected city. It is said that in 447 BC, a brave warrior ruler named Kedaraj attacked Bhera and defeated Raja Berhat here. Alexander the Great attacked Bhera in 326 BC. Chinese tourists Feihan and Hwang Tsang also came to Bhera. Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi attacked here, then Raja Aji Rai accepted obedience and then As a result, Sultan Mahmud Ghaznavi conquered Bhera and made it a part of the Islamic Empire. Babur, the founder of the Mughal dynasty, was occupied here in fifteen hundred and nineteen. After the Mughals, the present Bhera was settled on the other side of the city and Sher Shah After Suri, Ranjit Singh and after Ranjit Singh, the British occupied this city, everyone knows the story after that, on the fourteenth of August, nineteen forty-seven, after Sab Tehsil and Sab Tehsil, now the head of Bhera is crowned again. And so the journey from one state to the tehsil was decided by Bheera. Despite going through many good and bad situations in thousands of years, Bheera's heart is still beating the same way.
ہڑپہ کے بعد پنجاب کی سب سے پرانی جگہ کا کیا نام ہے ۔ آپ سوچا رہے ہونگے ۔لاھور ملتان یاپھر کوئی اورنہیں بالکل نہیں بھیرہ پنجاب کے ضلع سرگودھا کی ایک تحصیل ہے۔ آپ کہیں گے نہیں یہ تو محض پانچ سو سال پرانا ہے اس کو شیرشاہ سوری نے آباد کیا تھا۔نہیں نیا بھیرہ یا پرانا بھیرہ الجھن میں پڑ گئے نا آئیے میں سمجھاتا ہوں جہلم ندی کے مشرقی تٹ پر یہ ہے نیا بھیرہ دلی اور لاہور کی طرز پہ بنا ہوا ایک خوبصورت تاریخی شہر، اس شہر کے نام کی کئی کہانیاں ہیں۔ اس شہر میں گھومنے پر آپ کو پرانے سندر کھنڈر دیکھائی گے جن کی آس پاس نئی سڑکیں اور بلڈنگز بنی ہیں۔ تو بھیرہ کی عظمت کی کہانی شروع ہوتی ہے قبل مسیح کے وقت سے مانا جاتا ہے۔موجودہ بھیرہ کو تقریبا پانچ سو سال قبل شیرشاہ سوری نے جہلم ندی کے مشرقی کنارے پر آباد کیا تھا جب مغلوں نے دریائے جہلم کے مغربی کنارے پر پرانے بھیرہ کو تباہ و برباد کر دیا تھا۔ پرانا بھیرہ جسے آج بھراڑیاں کہا جاتا ہے ضلع جہلم تحصیل پنڈ دادن خان کے گاؤں احمد آباد کے قریب ٹیلوں کی شکل میں موجود ہے۔یہ ہزاروں سال قبل سلطنت بھیرہ کی راجدھانی ہوا کرتی تھی ایک روایت کے مطابق ما بھارت کے ہیرو پانڈووں کی کی ماں بھیرہ کے راجہ کی بہن تھی۔اس شہر کے ایک جانب کوہ نمک کے پہاڑ ایک مضبوط دیوار کی طرح کھڑے تھے اور دوسری طرف دریائے جہلم نے اسی شہر کو محفوظ کیا ہوا تھا اور اس کے ایک طرف موجود تھا گھنا جنگل اور یوں ایک محفوظ شہر تھا جس وجہ سے اس کا نام پڑا بھیرہ ہے بھیرہ سنسکرت لفظ ہے جس کے معنی ہیں بغیر خوف کے رہنا ۔کہتے ہیں چار سو سینتالیس قبل مسیح میں کیدراج نامی ایک بہادر جنگجو حکمران نے بھیرہ پر حملہ کیا تھا اور یہاں کے راجہ برہت کو شکست دے کر اس پر قبضہ کر لیا سکندر اعظم نے تین سو چھبیس قبل مسیح میں بھیرہ پر حملہ کیاچینی سیاح فیہان اور ہیوانگ سانگ بھی بھیرہ میں آئے سلطان محمود غزنوی نے یہاں پہ حملہ کیا تو یہاں کے راجہ اجی رائے نے اطاعت قبول کر لی اور پھر بد عہدی کر بیٹھا نتیجتاً سلطان محمود غزنوی نے بھیرہ کو فتح کر کے اسے اسلامی سلطنت کا حصہ بنا دیا خاندان مغلیہ کا بانی بابر پندرہ سو انیس میں یہاں قابض ہواتھا۔مغلوں کے بعد شہر کے دوسرے کنارے پر موجودہ بھیرہ آباد کیا گیا اور شیر شاہ سوری کے بعد رنجیت سنگھ اور رنجیت سنگھ کے بعد انگریز اس شہر پر قابض ہوئے اس کے بعد کی کہانی تو سب کو پتہ ہے چودہ اگست انیس سو سینتالیس کے بعد سب تحصیل اور سب تحصیل کے بعد اب دوبارہ بھیرہ کے سر تحصیل کا تاج سجا ہے اور یوں ایک ریاست سے تحصیل تک کا سفر بھیرہ نے طے کیا ہزاروں سال میں کئی اچھے اور برے حالاتوں سے گزرنے کے باوجود بھیرہ کا دل آج بھی ویسے ہی دھڑک رہا ہے
