I actually love the "it's fine. We not taking damage and we get some extra non-wave time" while the game just goes "just you watch me odd... just watch me...". I was waiting for that moment where we get cocky enough to think we can trick the game. And I love that the devs just punish us so brutally for reaching that point. 😂
There seems to be a damage multiplier for wave length the longer you are in combat the higher each individual enemy's damage output becomes, not sure if it stacks on double raids but it does explain that damage increase.
I think it only applies when connected to a mine, so while moving and fighting the boss there is no penalty. After he accidently connected with the mine after having fought the boss for some time, he quickly got destroyed.
Not 100% sure, or maybe it depends on the full run timer more than the wave timer. If you purposely leave one flier in an early round and just tank the damage. You can clear all the mines from the spawn area with about 20% damage, so a little over one heal. I feel it seems faster to cheese It this way and not deal with several waves in the area. Repeating for the second area after the first cloud wave seems still within manageable damage. This has the cost of health, but having one less task to worry about has its advantages in the mine. This would be my experience in relatively early game. With a more upgraded spider it may stop being too useful.
Not to mention the missiles were spread between the 3. Some of them must've been at the edge of being destroyed, considering the missile does double damage than last time (and will probably do twice this damage next time, since Odd ended with 21k which is enough for the upgrade I think).
Looks like you found out how to cheese it right after they 'fixed' it by making enemy damage grow exponentially after a while if you leave the spider unattended. There's a lot of cool mods and upgrades you haven't discovered yet after which your starting game is really going to pop off. P.S. do not dismiss the bomb - a single range upgrade makes it very potent and is well worth the investment.
There have to be cost/balance changes for me to want to level up more than a few things per run. Some things are so important that you don't want to delay them, and some are so impact-less that its a waste.
I really like each of this runs, there's always lots fo action in each of them. Not to mention the simple progress made by just learning with each new experiences. Such a great series!!! 😁
Oh man finally got around to watching this now the title makes perfect sense Odd thinking hes getting away with the greatest cheese ever just to have it literally blow up in his face 🤣
I have found that even early game It's way more efficient not to mine the entire mine. In the long run you end up with more of those shiny things to upgrade your Spider because you can get a lot more resources which means more upgrades on your drilling and you can mine way faster Late game in the harder biomes which give you more of the shiney resources. I have done it both ways and not clearing the entire mine I almost always ended up with more shiny resources Then if I did
Mining isn't only about resources. You also get points to upgrade your permanent equipment. Which is more important than one run's maximum efficiency. And with two upgrades on your drill, you don't lose much time clearing the early mines. Also, if you don't go till the end of the mine, you could lose the weapon or the upgrade that's in the mine.
@nikosxi And if you read my comment that's exactly what I was talking about by upgrading your laser to mine faster by not mining every single block in there you end up being able to break blocks a lot faster in the late game and the later more difficult biomes give you a lot more of those resources to unlock. Those upgrades. so in the long run you end up with more of that resource by not mining all the blocks.
In terms of efficiency, I believe, when using the docking station or even without, you could not hug every single block, as you do not have a drill, but a mining laser with a length of about two blocks. So staying closer to the docking station helps you to not have to move it around so much plus you can still mine the same blocks as when “hugging” the blocks. I hope this is comprehensive. Still, I personally am not a fan of the docking station. It doesn’t really push your efficiency in the wall that much and costs you passively mining on the way to the back of it.
Your biggest issue is, you're indecisive. Instead of spreading your resources over all of the waepons pick ONE and focus on that. A fully upgrade weapon is better than 3/4 minor upgraded ones. If you get a weapon and start investing.. don't pick up the other weapons, you already know it slows down your swapping to the one you want when you have all of them so why take another when you can't afford to upgrade both?! I do like watching your runs, but that wiggling to spray an area is hampering you also, it's much better to just do a slow rotation than wiggle shots all over the place. Keep these vids coming Brother, it's entertaining. :)
The indicator I use to determine if combat has ended (prior to the slightly-delayed sound effect that lets you know) is to glance at your rocket cooldown. It will go to all gray if there are no more enemies. Granted, it's also all gray right after you launch it, but then it pretty quickly has at least one yellow row of pixels if combat it still active. A quick glance to see if I'm safe to bail generally does the trick.
There's really no reason to clear the mines at all for the sake of meta resources. There are always more mines. Leaving just means you're clearing blocks somewhere else, sooner, and also on a faster track to getting more resources and upgrades that'll improve your drilling and killing.
Adding to that, your checking every mine and then skipping things is really shooting yourself in the foot. Unless you absolutely critically need a specific resource (like you're almost dead and need one of the repair options), then finding the blue or green circuits are probably the most valuable outcome of any mine. Especially for small, easy biome mines, you really want to be doing a quick scrape of that back wall to check for those things.
PSA: you still need to slow down for the drill missile but it looks like a patch/update partially saved you. The explosion actually damages blocks if you do it off target now
Second phase leviathan's postules have a ton more HP, last time you just had plenty of other guns helping the damage yes. Ok so guns really are tiered it seems, it might be worth considering picking a direction and ignoring gun rooms until you've crossed two cloud layers if you think you can survive that long with just the machine gun, but like you said picking so many bloats the gun switching rotation, it also bloats the options for random rare upgrades since those only apply to things you already have. Not to mention you'd probably save a lot of travel time by ignoring those huge rooms, haven't tried it myself yet though I just happened to think of it right now.
Hey Chris this isn't related to the video but I was just curious as to why you never really touch Middle Earth: Shadow of War? You seemed to enjoy the first one quite a bit. Love your content :].
it always confuses me when you keep going green after youve already got your green mining upgrade. Your next mining upgrade is red. greens are spread out through the middle three cloud tiers... you will find them through the first cloud tier in either direction, if you dont already find one in your starting cloud tier. if it was me, id pop into the red biome for my four titaniums to get that next mining upgrade BEFORE moving toward the greens. itll just make your life in ALL biomes better, including the greens.
You're talking to someone who has vehemently refused the split beam upgrade (except in this very run) despite being the only mining efficiency alternative in the upper half of the map for every run it's been an option. I don't think Odd will do this or many other things that are good strategies because he's having fun with the game not thinking about it too deeply.
when using mouse and keyboard, if your robospider is in a movement animation, it freezes your upgrades.... just make sure you arent in a movement animation.
No worries if there aren't, but are there any Vampire Survivor plans you can share with us regarding playing through the new DLC beyond that steam stream?
Hey christopherodd I want to say that having 2 way Lazer cutting is better is better than one it will be wort it i have gain 40000 poin in 35 mins but only upgrade it once not twice. and christ I'v been watching ever since you the they are billion
Mass-multiplying enemy damage as a solution to a slightly cheesy strategy some people might have used once in a while is such a hair-brained "solution" that it worries me for the future of this game. That's one entire Yike.
Odd, quit upgrading the shotgun just to "use what we have" when you could have upgraded your machine gun, which you use more than any other gun! Also, when you are just blasting along finding out which mines have what, you should be building resource harvesters so that they can start paying for themselves.
Every block gives you points that go to your account, to upgrade the spider at the base. So until you get everything max level, that is your actual game progression and not the upgrades you get in a run that go away on death. It's also very difficult to avoid the empty blocks and go only for those with resources.
Why do you keep keeping destroying those empty blocks? Even more so infuriating when your scanner doesn't pop any resources, in an area that you know has none.
Watching this now, I just get more and more disappointed at this game. You just left the honeymoon period of this game. Now you have to settle down, get a 9-5 job and grind metaprogress until you your eyes roll back into your head. Within 3 more rounds you'll be on autopilot just powering through, not enjoying a single moment of it. Just hoping it can be over finally.
The docking station is a MINER annoyance.

resource harvester only operates when the spider is NOT connected to the mine. So building one right as you connect does nothing until you disconnect.
Some of the background scenery is so unique.. looking at the robot arm during the battle @49:00 makes me wonder more about the lore behind all this!
Your missiles were doing damage, the second boss is just much tankier. It took a lot of missile shots to bring it down the first time you killed it.
Not to mention the missiles were spread between the 3. Some of them must've been at the edge of being destroyed, considering the missile does double damage than last time (and will probably do twice this damage next time, since Odd ended with 21k which is enough for the upgrade I think).

@@ONKVP right, i love leaving it to do its job on those final mines. or dealing with a cloud wave while at a mine

That basic mine really turns more and more into power wash simulator the further you go down the upgraded laser tree

A "Miner" annoyance! Ha, I see what you did there!!
Dang! So close! And you had so many balls...
I theorize that the missile targets the highest health, so it doesnt target the same pustual every time
Resource scanner is only really viable in ice mines because of how they are generated they take forever to mine.
Probably good to build when ever possible a ressource harvester until the final phase.
Red biome is coral and it’s only down past the first two cloud layers. Same as the bismuth biome is only up past the first two cloud layers.

skipping low level gun rooms is def a way to go and Odd hasn't even seen so much of good stuff yet
extra non-wave time indeed Odd lol
