A NEW FORTRESS IN NASHVILLE | FPV Drone Tour of Geodis Park

  • "We need to make this a place that's tough to play -- and the fans need to make it a place that teams fear to come!"
That is the mentality head coach Gary Smith is looking to build at the club's brand new stadium, Geodis Park. A $335 million dollar, privately funded facility that boasts a capacity of 30,000 seats, making it one of the largest soccer specific stadiums in the United States and Canada. And for a club that didn’t suffer a single home defeat in 2021, the opening of this impressive venue may only strengthen the Blue and Gold’s fortress-like home record, making Geodis Park a place that Supporters love and opponents despise!
Homecoming is a new series that looks at the unique story of soccer stadiums in North American and explores the design, inspiration, and origins behind the best and brightest stadiums in Major League Soccer.

A question for Nashvillians: How are public transit options since I don't have a car so if I were to visit public transit would be my only option. A while back a Koch Brothers backed campaign to torpedo a light rail line succeeded. Since then has there been any attempts to revive talks or at least offer BRT (Bus Rapid Transit)? I live near the stadium of Shalke 04 and it's pretty crazy to see tons of people descending towards the stadium with various modes of transit - either on foot, by bike, by light rail, by bus and lastly by car. After the match its also pretty amazing to see the ebb flow back "into the sea" so to speak - the cheering, chants, inebriatededly stumbling back. Sadly there's not really any pubs nearby so perhaps not the greatest example. Nevertheless, my experiences after sports games in America have been subdued by the very private experience of everyone going to and from the game, all done with cars. Granted there are exceptions with certain stadiums (Cincinnati, Seattle . ..etc) in a somewhat urban core. Sadly though, many of these urban stadiums are located next to freeways, which have scarred many American cities, so there's not much to do around their either.
On that point, is the Nashville location somewhat a purely destination stadium? Can fans do anything around it before or after the game? I imagine, since these stadiums are much more about real estate than the stadium itself, they'll build some kind of a "night life" bar area around it but I never appreciated these kinds of South Park-esque "SoDaSoPa" centers. They seem way too artificial, inorganic and cookie cutter like purely oriented around consumption with their sports bars inundating patrons with speakers blaring music everywhere and a gazillion TVs. I much prefer to frequent a privately owned pub done much in the Irish/British style.
I hope to be proven wrong, for I've never been to Nashville, let alone Tennessee.

That's a heck of a cool flythrough view of the stadium. But there is something about the stadium design that doesn't sit well with me. Part of it is the way the levels are done. And that the corners are open, which seems to dissipate energy like its non feng shuay or something. I haven't seen a tour of the concourses and food places, etc. yet. But the outside views I've seen look skeletal. Compare with Minnesota.

NYCFC in particular are an embarrassment to the league... I can't even watch the highlights because the sight-lines and pitch dimensions are so appallingly bad.
Chicago paid $60 million to end their contract at Bridgeview and their situation is now actually worse.
New England's isolated, soulless NFL bowl is bad enough without the plastic playing surface, but Robert Kraft couldn't care less about such 'minor irritations'.

That won’t happen, trust me it won’t, we love this sport, but football is literally in a person’s blood here, and if it’s to be the number one sport, it would have to pass like 3 other sports leagues. The MLS is growing but it still can’t compete with the two major sports leagues in the US, the NBA and the NFL. So in conclusion soccer is growing and will be big in the us, but it won’t surpass basketball or The NFL
