As Borgia, Sutherland does not even have one rival. She has the size of voice, the rich tone, the coloratura which she sings in complete full voice, which all other Borgia's sing in head voice. Do you know how hard it is to sing coloratura in the upper register in full voice? Only Callas and Horne sings the most difficult coloratura in full voice. I love Sills, but she does not sing her coloratura in full voice. She sings it in head voice. Sutherland is the ultimate dramatic coloratura.
Obviously not true. Sutherland's high notes were great at age sixty. Getting in and out of the chest voice, leaving the weight behind and not forcing it, is the key to using it without harm. Many roles would be diminished without the chest voice.
Sutherland always scoops in this music, maybe because of the relatively low tessitura. It doesnt seem to hurt the melody though. She sings it more beautifully than anyone else in my opinion.....including the trills of course. Many sopranos would avoid this role because of the obvious use of chest voice...which I have heard Dame Joan handle much better than on this occasion.
Caballe? Please stop, this role is filled with trills and Caballe doesn't even have a trill! Having sung a garbage duet with some fake ass rock singer doesn't make her the best opera singer ever, do you know what I mean?
How splendidly well she carries off the wearing of these great period costumes.
beautiful:) simply electrifying!
super!

I agree
La supera Caballé.
@@lydiaguarro she uses head voice not full voice
Magnificent.

Well, you know, you're still allowed to like them both and admire their interpretations for their own (and different) merits.
100% agree…
Homoclassicus Congratulations for your AWESOME channel! I’m a huge fan. Thank you 🙏🏻

THERE IS THE ROUNDNESS WITHA BITE - BRAVA
Lovely bel canto.
sei stata e sarai sempre l'amore mio unica al mondo
Isn't it Adriana Lecouvreur?
No, it's not. It's Lucrezia Borgia.
Perfection ? Check Monserrat Caballe and Mariella Devia on the same aria ...please
Peter Nelissen haha funny
CALLAS

Fantastica
Milanov & Callas: "Back off Juanita; After me, only Caballé, querida."
No
Is a very good performance, a very good soprano but In my opinion I preffer others Lucrezias, like Caballé, Moffa or Devia
Obviously, if you sing with the voice of chest, the high notes are lowered.
Not good, for me!!!

I am a super fan of Dame Sutherland. But, Caballe sung the best version of this aria.
