you're right. Gidle is only for intellectuals. They're like red velvet, never repeat the same thing. Soyeon is definitely one of the genius musicians out there. Their one song called "Senorita" is one of the most experimental song they've done but as usual, it doesn't fit public listeners . Most musicians love how unique the song structure is, especially during Soyeon's rap parts. "Lion" is also a great one! It has everything that an alternative pop should have.
You are right. The general public didn't like senorita, but musicians, vocal coaches, producers and music critiques loved senorita. Gidle songs especially senorita are definitely for the intellectuals. Jokes aside. I'm being serious.
Still hoping to see you react to Queendom. (G)-Idle has some of the best performances to me, especially their put it straight nightmare version. Mamamoo is also on the show!
Queendom is a must see. Both Mamamoo and (G)-Idle have amazing performances (as do the other groups). It's also the first time Lion and Destiny were performed, and both of those performances are incredible.
Also Soyeon composes she writes and produces pretty much all of their songs but it’s not just her writing it’s her and the members you should check out their comeback stage for LION on Queendom it was amazing
Since you talked about liking Yuqi a lot, I wanted to give some facts about my ult bias! She's from China, and speaks Mandarin, Korean, and English fluently (She's so proficient in Korean that everyone jokes that she's actually Korean and some of the Korean members are foreigners lol). Yuqi is pronounced kind of like Yoo-chee in China, but in Korea they pronounce it Oo-gi/U-gi/Woo-gi (woo and oo are the same sound in Korean). She's the mood maker of the group, she's always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh, and she has so many idol friends it's crazy; everyone wants to be her friend. She's also a comedy/variety queen and has her own variety show on youtube called Learn Way where she learns a new job/skill/hobby every episode with a skilled teacher. The show is hilarious cause she's a lot to handle, to say the least XD
@@colby_247 I think they use the pronunciation of the Hanja (the korean use of Chinese characters) for her name in Korea, but I'm not 100% sure on that
The one in the bob you like is Yuqi, yes. Her voice has gotten a lot more stable over the past few years and her tone is something special. She has a cover of Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from a few months ago that I adore.
@@chezz770 That's literally ONE OF, if not, my FAV cover by Kpop idols and my fav scared to be lonely cover. Not becuz they're my ult group, but becuz how good Yuqi and Minnie sounded together, plus the little twist they did at the end is *chef's kiss*
Soyeon is the main writer, producer, and composer for most of their songs, she's crazy talented. All the other girls are involved in the creative process too!
When you said Soyeon also has a good singing voice besides rapping, YES. She was in a show called Produce 101 and while her goal was to be a rapper, the teachers encouraged her to be a vocalist because of how well-rounded she was! She’s amazing :)
Yes, (G)i-dle being almost a completely self-produced group means their lyrics are more significant to them and they are able to connect to the concept to a deeper level than honestly other groups can ever do, it's just a fact. If you are completely involved in the process you internalize it more and are able to deliver it the best. I would be really interested in seeing you react to their mini albums as their music, especially for this mini, is not your typical pop music as there's always a different flavour to what a typical Kpop song would have... It's like having a very well known recipe and adding a spice or an aromatic herb to give it a very distinct flavour. I've written it several times in the last week, Soyeon is a generational talent and she's going to end up being one of the most revered and successful idols that ever lived. P.S.: it must be said tho that even tho all this virtuosity of being a self reliant group is definitely a strenght and an added value to their art it wasn't planned, CUBE did not have an idea of what to do with Idle before their debuts and with really poor budget Soyeon was the one that produced their debut and insisted for the company to launch them. To this day Soyeon works her ass off to produce music for her group and do all the collabs she can or she's asked to do by CUBE to the point where her being overworked was a source of worries for the fans. That company mismanaged almost every group it had and it was just lucky enough to have Soyeon sign with them and save the whole ship with her group mates in Idle.
Definitely CUBE ent artist never been dissapoint, from their vocals and self produced songs. And can u check their big brother BTOB debuted way back 2012. I'll suggest -I'll Be Your Man -L.U.V
I think their uniqueness come thanks to their leader and how she gives them confidence to be unique and don't follow the flow. Soyeon convinced them to take singing classes that didn't necessary made each member change their unique voices to fit the industry. She encouraged them to embrace their voices and learn to work with them. They are a very strong group that support each other. Soyeon once said that she wanted the group to write and produce their own music because that's it the only way to proudly perform their songs. So she wrote most of G-idle songs and now some of the members started to write songs for their albums with her help. It think that is really cool and unique in k-pop.
When G-idle debuted I was really very impressed! Its rare for a GG get my full attention and that’s a huge thanks to their unique tone and superb talent!! Soyeon always shines in my eyes bc of her stage presence and 101% enerdy and badass performance.. I think Cube Ent. Really found a gem in by having Soyeon so i hope they dont mess up.. She is a great producer/composer which is G-idles huge advantage among other 4th gen Groups...
The two songs (and a third from the album) tell the story of a breakup through the metaphor of seasons changing. Hwaa is about going through the dark cold winter into a new bloom in spring with a cleansing fire. They're so talented! The whole album is great, definitely give it a listen. Their live stage performance of Hwaa is also great with some killer live vocals!
they usually go really deep in whatever concept they do, so often really interesting to dive into, for Hwaa they (well Soyeon she wrote it) dive deep into Korean culture, I wondered about the symbolism of them holding a single long braided hair will looking almost in despair in some shots, apparently in classic (old) Korean culture, braids and hairstyles were used to symbolize status, a single long braid marked one as not wed (for both men and women), don't know if that means anything, but I think it ties into the song of love lost, promises unkept, and overcoming it stronger
I know it's been mentioned before, but their Queendom performance of "Put It Straight" is a breathtaking live performance. I'm also seeing a lot of reaction videos to it not being taken down any more, so... The original version of the song is also incredible, full of melancholic beauty.
For a full experience! U should listen to hann (alone), then hann (alone in winter), then hwaa Soyeon said these 3 songs go together and listening to them in that order will give u the full experience :) hann (alone in winter) is their 1st track on their new album

i remember earlier on in your channel seeing your (g)i-dle reacts and you hadn't reacted to HANN yet and was hoping you would, but i'm so glad HWAA came out and the group said that the two were linked so getting to see you react to both together and experience it was really cool to see. thanks for the react!! Would love an album react to this too, I think you'd like it.
I'm glad someone told him these were linked, I had to search all the comments for this. I agree, glad you reacted to both songs at the same time by chance. There is a third song that fits in between these called "Hann(Alone in Winter)" which is the first song of the mini album. They altogether tell a story of someone who was left by their love. They act like they are fine and will forget them, but over time realize that person still has a hold on their feelings.l So they resolve themselves to forget this old love and be reborn to new passion and feelings. I look forward to seeing where the story goes from here.
There's another song in the middle 'Hann' (Alone in winter) which is another new song on their latest mini album I-Burn, Hwaa can mean 3 things in Korean, Flower, fire and anger
You should react to their debut album "I Am" literally so good, it has my favorite B-side 'Maze' Also Soyeon is the first Female idol to compose an entire album by herself, which is the ''I trust Album''
There are soooo sooo much to see of them in just 2 years since debut. Imo Latata (og) and Queendom ver. are a MUST. In the same way Put it straight (og) and Queendom ver. Those just to see how they can pull any kind on concept and performance they want. Luv u, from the I trust album and Maybe. And bassicaly every track on this new album (specialy the opening Hann - alone im winter). Im not a kpop listener, except for Idle and Taemin. But bc Idle is just another thing. So advanced for their generation.
You should definitely check out some of their individual covers like Minnie's "Gravity" or Yuqi's "Shallow". And also their song on immortal songs "Bimong(비몽)". If you search Gidle immortal songs I'm sure it will pop out 😊 Also their stage for "Put it straight (Nightmare Version)" on Queendom is iconic. (It's a darker version of the original and Soyeon made the arrangement specially for it, but it does have a slower moodier original sound on their album 'I made') I hope this was useful and thank you for the reaction 😊
Aaaaaannnnnddddd one more thing..... Sir Austin you should literally do their albums listening party....... Coz....this album is LLLIIIIIIITTTTTT!!!!! I literally can't tell you coz the album is so gooooooooooooodddddddddddddd....... Their album name is "I burn" Please react to the album
Perhaps i have a thing for women with deep voices..... or idols with deep voices in general.... Yuqi is so beautiful and her voice is so full and to me sounds like honey. I remember seeing her first in Latata and being like wow she's so small and cute and her voice is so deep???? Its so unique! Hann is one of my favorite songs from them. Its the song that got me into them! I really love their MVs cuz the captions have the name.of the member singing which helps you stick a name to a face/voice so much faster. As a ex-dancer the Cheograpghy to me is so beautifully unique. Especially the circle formations. Its hard to do those! Thank you for the reaction!
Hann(Alone), Han(Alone in the Winter) which is the first song on their new album, and Hwaa tell a story when you listen to them in order. It's about the different stages of dealing with the end of a relationship.
4:34 been a fan of theirs for a long time, and it was this comeback (HWAA) that made me realize what you just said; its not pop for pop sake. Everything about HWAA(and I Burn as an album) is curated and serves an ARTISTIC purpose. I think a better way(instead of "for the intellectuals" to summarize (G)I-dle's music is that its "for the artists" (okay, technically its for anyone who will like it, but artists will get just that little more out of it if they take the time to see the art.)
the reason why these songs and group is not your typical pop or kpop is because, they are self MADE... they produce, write, compose all their songs. they didn't get it from an agency like every other group. Gidle is that DEEP and that talented. you can also check out K/DA which features Soyeon and Miyeon. STAND TALENT, STAND GIDLE.
One of your reaction videos you were asking for live performances. I would like to recommend the Queendom Stages they did. Especially their remix of a B-side "Put it Straight (Nightmare Version)" Theres a lot going on there vocally. I think the 1st performance of Lion was also on Queendom and was amazing.
These two songs are connected by another song called "Hann (Alone in Winter)" which is the first track off their new album "I Burn". There's a sort of narrative that goes on between them about the aftermath of a break up and "bringing back the spring that was lost." Hence, the theme of creating fire to melt off the winter and bring forth spring. Fun fact, Soyeon said in an interview that the way they sing "hwaa" in the chorus is supposed to depict the sound of burning winter away (or burning whatever winter represents in the narrative). Meanwhile the whistle sound on "Hann (Alone)" means as if to blow away the memories in order to forget the person after a break up. They're not just hooks (aka Soyeon is a genius).
Yuqi's name is pronounced as "ugi" (like yu but without the "y" and gi like in "gill"). She's from China, her deep tone is soooooo good and she's great at singing and dancing, she's such a social butterfly and has countless of idol friends. I think because of that and her being so outgoing, she's been invited to shows like Running Man China (where she was with Lucas from NCT) and even as the main host in 1thK's new show Learn Way, where she learns new habilities each episode like being a zookeeper, hairstylist, b-boying, gymnastics... SHE'S HILARIOUS, she could easily be a comedian!! Also (G)i-dle did several episodes titled Secret Folder (from 1theK too) and boy was I laughing hard. Even if you don't react to them, do check it out, you're gonna have a blast!
Yay! Hann is in my top 3 songs of theirs! You should also check out “I’m the Trend”. The video is homemade, so cute, & the chorus uses the titles of their other songs. It’s more traditional “pop” rather than “Oh My God”, “Lion” & “Hann”.
I love the idle content. I think they are the most unique group along with Dreamcatcher. I would honestly suggest giving their songs a few spins to let them settle in properly, I think some Idle songs need that. I didn't like Hwaa all that much on the first few listens but now the melodies have sunk in I am obsessed - they never fail me. As a Yuqi bias you neeeeeeeeeeed to see the clip of Yuqi and Minnie singing scared to be lonely on one of the idol room things. Two of the most unique voices in kpop coming together in a perfect harmony. Made me stan them both so much more. It's short but totally worth it.
Definitely check them out on Queendom, if you haven't already, in your own time (I know that stuff is hard to react to on YT) Watch the full clips of them practicing and producing the music too👌 talent. I love em all but Yuqi and Minnie's voices are my faves
The one you said that was your favorite, with short hair, is Yuqi 😁 You should definitely react to their b-sides, like Lost and Dahlia (these are from this last album, "I burn"). Also, I think you will like the single "I'M THE TREND". Another one that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND is "Put It Straight", which has the original version from the album "I made" and the nightmare version that Soyeon arranged for the reality show Queendom. The performance of the nightmare version is out of this world.
Uh, I love the new album. And, it's entirely self-made. The first track of the album called "Hann(alone in winter)" is co-written by Ahn Ye Eun by the way, it's clear to hear. It might be interesting to check her out as well since she's veeery unique. Writes everything by herself what she sings and has a very unique sound and tone. She's reeaaally good. And specia though. Try "Kakatopia" "Waltz" (I'd say Trumpet Creeper but since it has.. very special video the MV might be not for you ^^). She even covered "Lion" of G-Idle in her way. It's so good. :)
You should listen to Getaway by Minnie (the girl with the red hair in hwa)! It‘s an OST song but her voice sounds soo amazing in there, it‘s super unique!
I was going to ask you to react to them haha, glad you liked the songs! :) I want to recommend you Golden Child, I don't know if you ever heard of them but they are a 10 members boy group with bright and dark concepts, they are so good in everything they release, I think you would like them. At first it would be cool if you reacted to DamDaDi (debut song), Pump it Up (last comeback) and then Wannabe a dark concept, I think these 3 songs can show you the colors of the group :D Golden Child it is coming back in 25th january, please support them!
Miyeon was going to debut with the blackpink girls but she had problems and left the company, I don't know, but she is the main vocalist of this group :)

As a ex-dancer the Cheograpghy to me is so beautifully unique. Especially the circle formations. Its hard to do those!
Thank you for the reaction!
You definitely should check out their last comeback with Tomboy and My Bag
They do a live in studio casual version of this and it is sooo goood......
Me a moomoo singing along:
HWAAAAAA-SA🎵
HWAAAAAA-SA 🎶
SAMEEEE
Hann(Alone), Han(Alone in the Winter) which is the first song on their new album, and Hwaa tell a story when you listen to them in order. It's about the different stages of dealing with the end of a relationship.
You have to listen to "I'm the trend" and "Put it straight "( nightmare ver.) of (G)idle !
Their queendom performance are superb.. i recommend watching those~~♡
4:34 been a fan of theirs for a long time, and it was this comeback (HWAA) that made me realize what you just said; its not pop for pop sake.
Omg, I didnt see this reaction until now💕 Stan G-idle ppl.
the reason why these songs and group is not your typical pop or kpop is because, they are self MADE... they produce, write, compose all their songs. they didn't get it from an agency like every other group. Gidle is that DEEP and that talented. you can also check out K/DA which features Soyeon and Miyeon. STAND TALENT, STAND GIDLE.
Yuqi's first part in Hwaa is aurally delicious. Her timbre and deeper voice are something special.
4:41 ✨(G)I-DLE IS FOR INTELLECTUALS✨
Me: (flattered)
One of your reaction videos you were asking for live performances. I would like to recommend the Queendom Stages they did. Especially their remix of a B-side "Put it Straight (Nightmare Version)" Theres a lot going on there vocally. I think the 1st performance of Lion was also on Queendom and was amazing.
Actually the new album has another totally different Hann. The one here is Hann (Alone)/한(一), the other is Hann (Cold)/한 (寒).
Now time for the minor MV's 😌
I'm the Trend(composed by Minnie and Yuqi) and Blow to your mind(composed by Minnie) IDLE is just so talented
I can’t wait for you to check out more stuff from them!
I requested this. Thank You so Much Sir 😊
I've been waiting for thisssssss
Minnie and Yuqi have unique voice for me.
I'm waiting for this!!!! 🤩
EXO and G-idle are my favorites groups, they're very talented ❤️
QUEENS👸👑
Fun Fact:
Minnie is the one who whistled in HANN.
Did you watched the Park Bom version of Hann? She presented it on Queendom 😍
Yuqi is my bias she is underrated in every song I wish she had more lines but I mean she got more lines in HWAA and she’s really pretty
Yuqi 💙💙💙
I recommend listening to the entire „I Burn“ album 🙂
Yay! Hann is in my top 3 songs of theirs! You should also check out “I’m the Trend”. The video is homemade, so cute, & the chorus uses the titles of their other songs. It’s more traditional “pop” rather than “Oh My God”, “Lion” & “Hann”.
Omg my favorite girl group of the moment
GIDLE IS FOR INTELLECTUALS YASS
Hope you also react to their Queendom performances. Loved your reaction as always!!
I don't hear or watch HWAA yet, so thank you for the reaction
U should watch the mv and leave a like 💆
I recommend reacting to the entire „I Burn“ album 🙂
Soyeon is so powerful
I love this song before knowing (G)i_dle
You have to listen to Hann alone in winter
Please react to their showcase OMG they vocals are amazing, they sound like the cd
Definitely check them out on Queendom, if you haven't already, in your own time (I know that stuff is hard to react to on YT) Watch the full clips of them practicing and producing the music too👌 talent.
I love em all but Yuqi and Minnie's voices are my faves
These queens need to comeback, and bouncr back again. CUBE gotta do smtg
(G)I-DLE 👍
The one you said that was your favorite, with short hair, is Yuqi 😁
You should definitely react to their b-sides, like Lost and Dahlia (these are from this last album, "I burn").
Wow first time someone said gidle is for the intellectual, spot on
Great 👍 More (G)I-DLE 🔥
FINALLY MY GIRLS 🥰🥰🥰🥰
i mean, finally them again
Could someone please tell me the name of the girl in the shot 7:24 😟🙏??
Fun fact: The whistle sound in Hann was Minnie
I was going to ask you to react to them haha, glad you liked the songs! :)
I want to recommend you Golden Child, I don't know if you ever heard of them but they are a 10 members boy group with bright and dark concepts, they are so good in everything they release, I think you would like them. At first it would be cool if you reacted to DamDaDi (debut song), Pump it Up (last comeback) and then Wannabe a dark concept, I think these 3 songs can show you the colors of the group :D
Golden Child it is coming back in 25th january, please support them!
I LOVE HANN ❤️❤️❤️❤️ by the way, Yuqi is pronounced as Yu Chee! 😍 She and Shu Hua are Chinese 💜💜
Yuqi is a very good bias, she's super funny too. For me it's her and Shuhua, but they're all great.
You need to react to their I burn album!
Miyeon was going to debut with the blackpink girls but she had problems and left the company, I don't know, but she is the main vocalist of this group :)
I wish they extended that instrumental at the end. It seemed like it was too abruptly cut off for me. I almost get a little mad at the abruptness because i’m so entranced. loll
I got HWAA as an Ad while watching this lol
