It was a historic final, the Cañuelas team won their first Triple Crown title; three polo players achieved their first “big” trophy the South African Nachi Du Plessis; Barto and Jeta Castagnola and it was the first time in 13 years and 38 finals had to pass for a new winner of a Triple Crown tournament which did not have either La Dolfina nor Ellerstina lift the trophy.
On that occasion, in the final of the Hurlingham Open 2008, La Aguada of the Novillo Astrada brothers - Javier, Eduardo (h), Miguel and Ignacio beat Pilará (Agustín Merlos, Santiago Chavanne, Sebastián Merlos and Marcos Heguy), in an additional chukker , with a golden goal from the remembered Javo and was champion of the tournament.
MVP, Polito Pieres won his No. 4 title at Hurlingham (the other three with Ellerstina in 2016, 17 and 18). Jeta was the top scorer of the match (9) and of the tournament, with 31 goals and at 18 the youngest player on the field.
A flawless game for the La Natividad team, with unstoppable forwards like Jeta and Polito, the playmaker Barto pulling the strings of the team and the usual solidity of Nachi Du Plessis at back. They started winning from the start and always maintained a two or three goal advantage, which increased with the passing of the chukkers.
