Excellent review Mike ! My situation is the opposite of yours where I have early pressings of both records but neither of the Mobile Fidelity represses. I got to say that these rereleased records undoubtedly sound fantastic and are on the wish list. Incidentally Lotus will be released soon, just can't wait for that one either.
I just briefly sampled "Blues For Salvador" and it sounds very good. The song "I'm Gone" sounds pure '80s, and the version of "Stormy" on "Inner Secrets" is a good one. I will probably get both albums.
Chris I wish I had OG's of these but I don't, If one could find mint copies of them it would be fun to compare. But to me these sound really good! Thanks Chris
Another MFSL album that's actually worth the premium price is the first Boston album. The difference is amazing, they did a phenomenal job on the tape transfer.
I notice you always buy a lot of records from Mobile Fidelity I hear a lot of other audiophiles who have sent their records back because of the digital step they use You must really like the sound quality of the Mobile Fidelity records so how do you feel about all the hoopla that caused the company??
Initially I was pretty upset, we had always been led to believe that it was an all analogue path. I too thought I might send them all back for a refund. After a while and a lot of thinking and listening I realized the records still sounded the same after we learned they had the digital step in them and some of those I really loved, so I decided to keep them. Up until then I was purchasing every one-step that was released. I stopped doing that at that point and became very selective on the titles I would buy. And for the most part that is still what I am doing today, I only purchase the titles that really intrigue me. This past year I have only purchased around 6 or 7 mofi titles. Contrast that to the nearly 30 AP titles not to mention many others. So really what I am doing now is picking titles that I truly love or ones like these two that intrigue me. Thanks Dave for asking , It still bugs me that there is a digital step but I cannot deny that these two and a few others as of late sound really good.
Mobile Fidelity equals garbage. Bad digital remasters with rotten sound. Thin sterile sound on most of their releases going back a long time. These people are crooks and liars imo. Owned by the same scumbags as Music Direct. Prices are high. Complete waste of money.
Thanks for sharing your opinion Tascam Tascam, Like you, we all have our opinions on the digital step, and the sound of the albums that have it. I appriciate you sharing how you feel.

I know this will shock you, but nobody really gives a sh*t about your lack of hearing ability and empty pockets. Have a great weekend.

Couldn’t agree more. These guys do not deserve to have any shelf space in my collection regardless how good or bad their releases may sound.
