You guys blew my mind with your 1-1/4 build method. I'm doing that for my next build for sure. I also felt that the standard 1 wasn't quite enough. I started a house and went for 1-1/2 and later felt it was slightly too high, but already finished most of the house and don't know if I really want to start over (not building in creative mode).
One and a quarter is the perfect height we found. I’ve tried one and a half as well and I found it to be a little bit too high myself. You may as well go 2 grid high at that point.. lol

i agree, even though i barely prevented myself from soiling my pants everytime i play, love that i can give guns to a literal aimbot to replace my shid aim, just dont like the fact that Kelvin can't really defend himself...
Hey guys thanks for the tips.. When filling the walls in.. how do you lay the logs so quickly... When I lay them they only go in one at a time.. slowly.....
You’re welcome hopefully that helps you out a bit. we did this in creative mode so it probably does lay a little bit quicker in there but we also have building animations turned off which also makes it a lot quicker
Once you've beat the story and unlocked creative mode, the "skip construction animations" option appears in the gameplay settings. This option can be toggled mid game.
You could be anywhere on the map and will teleport you back to your platform. There is no distance limit on this thankfully, and James always has to make weird noises. Hahahaha

I’m curious on the rationale behind the size (width, length and even height) of such foundation. For instance because we will will need a square space for a door, another for a stairwell, etc!
@@JonathanBriseboisLamarche you are right it may be a simple thing but if you don’t get it right, it can be a problem in the future but thankfully you can take away and add to your foundation. I would say the biggest key to getting it right as knowing what you’re gonna build first.

I loved the rope bridge but I found it somewhat off seeing the planks popping through the wall so I tested placing 3/4 planks and it filled that space perfectly.
Great tutorial, followed to a t and somehow could not open up the second floor as you did, got frustrated and hit some logs and down came the roof lol.
The roof dosen't working, i did everything the same as you and and can't remove all the logs like in this vid, maybe make one dadicated to the roof start to finish without cuts. Thanks

Just a question on doors with a raised celing of a 1/4 log plus full log i cannot cut the 1/4 log cross member out. I see you do this with stone or this can only be done with a mod? Thanks in advance

It’s amazing how much time you save by finishing the game once and then turning on the skip placing/chopping animation mode. It’s a novelty for a few hours but 50+ hrs into the game, the placing/chopping animations are just a nuisance.
I was having issues with the roof not allowing me to take the far supports out bc of the quarter log on the ends so I got the idea to hide a support on the overhang supports. I supported a log on the last full log in the middle with a strut right underneath the overhang, placed a quarter log on the end and then I was able to remove the inner supports. Sorry if it was hard to understand but it's hard to put into words. if I could post a small clip or photo of it I would.
How are you guys holding like infinite rocks/stones? I can only carry 4 at a time, cant seem to find a console command for it Would love to be able to do this as Im pretty new and kinda just wanna mess around trying out different builds

having a bit of troubles removing middle scaffolding on A-frame roof, the end ones come out fine just the middle ones, I 100% have the top beam supported on both sides with half logs as shown in the video, wondering if anyone can help
I’ve heard that happening a few times happens to us occasionally as well so normally what we do is just tear that section down rebuild and it should work.
@@ReactiveGaming86 I'm having the same issue. Everything is removed except the center line. At the top, it won't let me remove the quarter logs or the cross bars on the end to begin the dismantling. I've rebuilt the peak and the issue still persists.

I couldn't make the rope stairs. I would wait until I had the arrow icon and then attach the rope on the left side of the beam, run it back to where I wanted to attach it to the floor and nothing happened. It wouldn't attach to the floor. Right side either. I did the build the same way you guys had it.
hi toshiko-the unknown issue with the ropebridges is that the planks on both sides of the intended floor location, is to be both layed horizontally.its a silly thing but never the less this should fix your problem.

I attach the rope when I see the arrow and run it back to where I want the stairs to start and try to attach the rope to the stone floor but it won't let me. @@HellBoy.Aust.1969 I built my structure exactly the same as the one in the video and started the bridge one square away from the door. If I place a log beam close to the floor from the wall to the first pilar, or use stone, the rope will connect to that and you could then lay planks to make the bridge but it's high at the bottom and you'll have to jump to start walking up the bridge to the second floor. It's frustrating because the rope won't attach to the floor and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I've made buildings before in the game, I've just never worked with rope. They guy in the video, James right? He is attaching the rope to the stone floor correct? I can't understand why I'm unable to do so. I've built it exactly the same as his structure so why can he fix the rope endpoints to the stone floor but I cannot? I really want to make this A frame base so I might have to just live with it.

You may need to take that section down and try again. Hopefully that works for you normally when it’s not showing icon to do something, there’s something wrong somewhere else..
So frustrating Chris. When removing planks from the roof, James said, "Sometimes you get logs that get stuck." You interrupted James and said we will not if you have them five across. Well I wish you would have let him finish and not interrupt him because I have been trying to remove all mine for weeks. Some remove while others don't. Could you please create a video or direct those of us who cannot remove the stuck logs, please.

“You can only go 5 pillars long”. Thats not accurate, I just built, last night, maybe 15x15 or larger, I can't quite recall, but I don't have any pillars. Plus, two out of the four sides are just free floating there. Oh, and I didn't even use debug destroy.
yeah ,the wording is everything,if u do a 5 span place a wall then continue to the next 5 logs and so on, and place another wall,there will be no need for debug

Love the A-frame house here but to really finish it off you might want to use the "shelves" to make the gutters by the roof.

Yeah. I know if you hold shift it will allow me to continuously place blueprints. It’s just a habit to open the book constantly.

For the doorway, you probably need to leave that part out fill it in and then put the quarter on the top of the door

And you can lock your doors by exuping stick and simple put it on door , but make sure you put it from inside

You just have to keep moving around until you said they will appear just have to be in the right position

Absolutely, it is a massive timesaver by not watching those animations. I couldn’t play the game with it now.
I like chopping the wood. I like to be immersed. I stopped watching here, because it was to easy.

Type "cheatstick" in game, then press F1 to bring up the menu, then type in "loghack on"

Never thought to put the quarter logs at the bottom of the wall when doing one and a quarter high. MUCH easier.
Yeah, it was James’s idea and it works really well specially when you’re trying to fill-in the quarter bit

How did you disable the place animation?
I believe that is in your options setting right down the bottom. There should be building animations. You should be able to toggle that on and off.

Work-around: I placed a strut on the bottom beam (of the top two) as well as the top beam and left that beam in. Everything else come out good.

is the distance longer then 1 log span,the ropebridge has a minimum of 2 log span to be connectable

You can use half planks or 3/4 for stairs if you do not want full planks sticking out of your wall.
