New rower and first-time watcher! Would be super cool if next year the TH-cam video had chapters dividing the races 1, 2, 3, etc. Or timestamps in the descriptions. I'd love to go right to race of my club then watch the others. :)

Correction here: Diana Hanks of Vermont was number 45. She's a friend of mine . I know her number was 45. The announcers told her story correctly, (carrying some ashes from the late former owner of the King), but unfortunately they kept mistakenly identifying Rower #46 as Diana.

The announcers are using an old line up sheet and just about every rower whom I know they have misidentified! Someone needs to get them a current lineup so they don't do this for three days!! The lineups on Regatta Central were changing until the beginning of this week.

They misidentified my friend Diana Hanks of Vermont as #46 when in fact she was #45. I thought this mistake was unique to her until I read your post, Catherine. Thanks for clarifying that it occurred more than once. Ughhh.

Commentators were too busy with their PR script to get the competitors' names correct. # 69 in Event 4 is my teammate Renata Perry of Bair Island Aquatic Center.
The organizers make minimal effort to have boats of the same speed close together; witness the 20-year spread of ages jumbled into one event. And yes, the singles will pass under the BU/railroad bridges with no penalty.
There were no water stations for filling water bottles this year.

it's true- there is no real effort made to group boats by speed. Most entries in any event (masters or otherwise) are randomly drawn and seeded by lottery. Typically only the fist handful (10ish-- this is based on a percentage of either the winning time or a specified finish place cutoff) of entries are seeded from the last year's event. These will be more or less speed ranked; while the rest of the event is not. In many ways this makes it more fun, as passing and trying not to be passed is part of the fun for both paticipants and spectators.

Colleen and David, HOC announcers on TH-cam, you are doing a good job and the coverage is great! A very minor suggestion- the term “athletes” is being used over and over and over in the coverage- suggest you consider mixing it up with “rowers” “scullers”, oarsmen, oarswomen - just mix it up a bit.

WOW... so disappointed in how dismissed the 70+ women were by the commentators. Such a shame that HOCR is still so focused on the men. DO BETTER
