Big up to the ancestors for creating such spiritually rich, Pan African, heavenly music. I'm of the younger generation but see it as my duty to pass this on to the younger generations of black yutes. Jah lives on and Reggae music is eternal.
I used to listen to this album everyday in 1979 after I listened to it being played at a Record store at Mushin Oloosha. I was poor yet I miss those days because music like this instilled pure love in us. How the time flies.
Girls and women dressed like reall special and we were sharp . Thank you for this memory especially in this time im grinding even if on my own love you all stay safe xxx
'Back a Yard' This wonderful tune proves 'happy songs' can be just as powerful as sad songs, ...oh such sweet memories 🤗 We need to write and sing our way into a 'beautiful life' and drop the sad lyrics! We are creators and we are creating with this our lyrics and musical energy.. Love and light! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this timeless joy!
Big bout yah Mark Williams........loved this era in my life......I would give up a lot to go back to these times and days......USA dead don’t know nothing about this music unless you are from England and live in the states and hear me coming down the road.....I will get stopped sometimes and I would be asked where I come from
The intro to this song came to mind today ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-taa and took me to my summer pre-college days. As the drummer (St. Lucian) for a Grenadian band (back in the day), the vocalist had me listen to this song so I would get that intro down. Didn't remember the lyrics, only the song was called 'Back-a yard' and only heard the song a few times in the band-room. Nice, grooving to this once again.
True....! These were the Good Ol' Days...! Memories. What happened to everyone...? Times People & Music have changed too...Much.. Please bring back those People too...
Nuff respect to Fil Callander, after knowing this gentleman for over 20 yrs I did not know how much he contributed to Jamaica's cool reggae beat. Sad that it had to take his passing for me to know his fame. Rest in peace Uncle Fil.
This song reminds me of my younger days. Going out it was a favourite at party and clubs and would have everyone on their feet dancing and singing to the tune. It's such a happy song!
Reminds me of good times back in Bristol seeing all those cool artists back then Dillinger, Trinity, The Royal Rasses, Matumbi, (Dennis Brown, Big /Youth on the same bill) Pauline and the brown sugar, Coxone sound system, Capital city sound system . the list goes on. fantastic memories never to be had again i'm afraid greetings from New Zealands Big Si.
Takes me back too the blues houses in bow / poplar back in the day was just a kid but tunes like this are timeless. Big up all the east end massive and bless too all them good people no longer with us....... .
In 2014, I worked for United Utilities as a sewer CCTV operative. Getting up at 5am to go to godforsaken places like Appleby-in-Westmorland - anyway, one day, Vanessa Feltz played this song on her morning radio show. I am eternally grateful to Vanessa Feltz.
