I love Trossard and he is like a barometer for the team. If he looks good, we are playing well. If we are struggling to click he will be quiet. Too often when he started last season he looked off the pace and couldn't get involved. As a sub he comes in with clutch moments and huge returns. He is the oerfect squad player in the forward line but not quite a regular starter in a title challenging team for me. But I do love him ❤
He has played at false 9 in literally every game since Martin got injured. For his position, he's played well. Leo hasn't played any game tasked with Martin's duties.
Havertz plays the furthest man forward, that’s my point. He’s a good back up to Havertz and can come on down that left as a sub. We’re currently playing somewhat a 4-4-2 with him and Havertz as two false 9’s and we’re struggling to play the way we normally do because there isn’t an outlet like Odegaard to make things tick.
James… I would compare him to marco ascensio in his Real Madrid days, one of the best left foot shooters from outside the box I’ve ever seen but wouldn’t be impactful if he started simply because he doesn’t have that same ability to impact the full 90 mins according to how the manager wants to play but can come in and change the game with his ‘special abilities’
You can start trossard but that has zero to do with nwaneri’s quality. I thought he was all hype last year, nope, the kid is talented and in time will force major minutes. Trossard has earned his spot right now
His finishing is not up to par but it will come .The positive is he gets in a lot of scoring positions and they will start going in confidence is a hell of a drug.
Always interesting listening to James. Trossard is an integral part of our team. Whether he starts or comes off the bench. Can get a goal out of nowhere. I think he enjoys proving people wrong. I must admit I was a bit underwhelmed when we got him instead of Mudryk. Not only has he saved Arsenal a fortune but he’s proving to be a lot more productive than the young Ukrainian.
Agreed on the insight I was feeling the same but then he scored then I felt like he deserved more praise weirdly I feel he’s more impactful as a sub also I feel as if the times where we make subs is not always ideal for explain Nwaneri should have gotten more mins in the previous match as partey was shocking second half to be honest we need to look at someone else his best days are gone as for a start with Nwaneri I feel like he deserves it but not this game but let’s see what the gaffer decides
Internet shaquille levels of delivery. Man knows we’re here to hear him out so he lets the visuals run the intro while he starts speaking from moment 1. Efficient.
🔴 Nope! Rice can't play the 6 the way Arteta wants to play it. Rice is slow on ball and passes sideways! He never receives the ball on the half turn when playing ghe 6, always square on! Partey plays Vertical passes and receives the ball on the half turn! That is the key difference between the 2 olayers in yhe no.6 role and its an important difference. I agree that Nwaneri needs to play and i would play him ahead of Trossard on this game and even against Southampton The boy is a gem and is ready Forget his age. He is ready! 🔴
Bit surprised that you did not factor him being played out of position. He's essentially doing what Odegaard was doing for the team not an 8 but like a second striker/10? He had to drop deep and feed some of the forwards which isn't his strength. He is comfortable playing the Saka role but on the left and his strength is his finishing none of that can be executed frequently if he is playing the Odegaard role. I thought as the game went one he got more comfortable. I'm sure he will do a lot better once he gets used to that position. You should compare his heat map and check his average position last season/at Brighton vs where he is having to play now. I think you will see his position will be deeper and more central
@@TheGoonerverse I feel his best position is as an attacking winger on the left drifting in. Kind of where Martinelli is playing right now. His previous season's heatmaps showed a lot of concentration in the left wing . This season it is more spread across in the middle of the pitch. I think we will see him at this best once Odegaard is back and probably Merino playing in the 8 and Trossard playing in the left wing..
Trossard’s best position is being in the box on the ball. He can dribble but he doesnt have the pace. He has decent delivery but he isnt necessarily a creator as well. Hes too small to be a lone striker but works really well in a system. Reminds me of Lautaro Martinez (obviously not as good) Its hard to fit a cylinder into a square peg.
To me it’s less Trossard vs Nwaneri than it is taking Partey out for Nwaneri, moving Rice to the 6. Especially after last game showing both of our fullbacks being able to invert one at a time or both. When Trossard starts deeper and rotates centrally with Havertz, he’s much more dangerous.
As much as I’d love to see Nwaneri start, I think the logical choice is to just give the start to Trossard and then give Nwaneri some minutes towards the end and then start him at the weekend. It’s a great opportunity for him to start vs Southampton.
At about 70 min mark I was shouting for Arteta to take Trossard off, then in the end he was my man of match as well. 🤷🏻♂️ Anyway, I still prefer to have him come off the bench AND I think he’s an indispensable part of the team.
I'd like a tad more Nwaneri for the simple fact that he gives someone a rest. Every minute Nwaneri plays its less minutes for (Trossard? Partey? or Saka even?).
Trossard should definitely start. I wouldn't start Nwaneri until Merino is fully back. Then we can move Rice in to 6, him and Merino give the solidity for a Nwaneri.
It really struck me when Lee compared him to Ljungberg in Fourever Arsenal, I can definitely see that. We have to accept that players are all different and offer a unique combination of qualities. Trossard isn't a key pass player, he's the guy on the end of them. For what it's worth, I think if we're gonna start Nwaneri then Partey is the one to drop, Rice is better defending transition than Partey anyway
i think arteta can use them both depends on the game, tbh i think trossard is better at this inside forward/second striker position rather than left wing
Trossard has been doing well as a 10 especially bearing in mind he’s not a natural there. See the amount of chances we created on Saturday? It wasn’t cause Kai dropped deep.
There’s no conundrum. Trossy is a different player from Nwaneri/Ode. Can’t expect him to be that player. Trossy is Trossy and produces in his way. He has his weaknesses and strengths. Just like we have to accept Havertz for what he is and what he isn’t, the same goes for Trossy
I don’t understand. Trossard is the guy who plays the most creative passes in absence of Ødegaard, passes that put Martinelli or Saka in positions to create chances, and often he himself is the one converting those chances. I don’t care about any stats. Creativity and genius isn’t quantifiable. Trossard is a world class player. I don’t understand people not seeing it.
For me its the amount of times he's been clutch. The man is too clinical imo. Of course he'll miss some but they all do.. The first 30 seconds sounds almost like Odegaard's job lol. But he is capable of it I do agree... just wondering maybe that's not in his role given by Arteta, who knows.
It's funny because Trossard is a pretty average player (albeit extremely well-rounded) but just happens to excel at the one thing that can completely negate most criticism: goal poaching. When it comes to nicking a goal out of almost nothing...he's as good as it gets. Makes him a real exciting player. Super happy he's playing for Arsenal.
There is absolutely noo conundrum, replace anyone but Trossard for Ethan if you are that desperate! But never the killer Leo!! I would take off Martinelli instead and play both Ethan and Trossard! Trossard is a finisher and Martinelli is a misser thsts caused a whole lot of pain last season and even this season!
False dichotomy. You can always shift Trossard to LW and play Nwaneri too at the expense of Martinelli. Nwaneri deserves to start but the correct question you all should be asking is at whose expense? All of Saka Kai Leo Marti are in form/picking up form. Without anyone obvious to replace it's a simple deduction that Nwaneri should be on the bench and be subbed on. Don't understand what all this forced debate is about
I think trossard problem is that he lacks pace so because of that he can't cover alot of ground how ever he is good in-between tight spaces thats y he is so good in and around the box where he can use that small burst of pace he as an show case is creative side....he cant drive with the ball for too long the opponent is gonna catch up to him
@TheGoonerverse yep hence y he look so much quicker an more effective coming off the bench because martinelli as already drain defenders energy during the game....but if we gonna play trossard as a 10 we gonna need to keep him up near the box
"Wanting more from Trossard" is one of the most ridiculous things I heard lately. His goals have been absolutely crucial for us since he came. Actual goals matter way more than mostly useless statistics. Who cares about "progressive carries" when the guy scores so many crucial goals?
@@Ujio1140 then why don’t Arsenal fans want him in their best XI? That’s the WHOLE POINT of this video. His numbers are fantastic yet there’s a debate about his place in the team? That’s weird no?

I think he does quite enough, maybe he is not the player you want, but he does what he's paid to do I think you're nit picking regarding Trossard. I was at The Emirates when Eddie Nketiah scored TWICE on his debut for Arsenal, everyone thought he was the second coming and we know how that turned out. Nwaneri is 17 and done NOTHING in football stop hyping him, remember Theo Walcott? Can you really say he had a great Premier League career of the highest level, he started out as a young "prodigy" too right? Trossard scores great and valuable goals when we need him to, that's more than enough. I think you're finding fault where there is none, to be frank.

@@Joshboyes1 I’ve put respect on his name by 1. Saying I love him and giving him many Man Of The Match shouts & 2. @TheGoonerverse I'm talking in general. This video was insightful, maybe I did not word this correctly, but let's put it this way, a lot of the fanbase have been quick to entertain the dropping of Trossard for Nwaneri but this should not even be a thought unless the kid has proven it week in week out on the bigger stage. I'm saying let's not even entertain it until Trossard becomes a liability or injured and then Nwaneri comes in, a bit like how Bellerin replaced Debuchy years ago.
Hey James! I left a similar comment on FK's match reaction video, but I want to see far more from Trossard. Outside of getting a goal, he doesn't really bring much to the overall team performance. I know that's super harsh on him, but he doesn't press well, he's not overly progressive with his passing, he's not going to kill someone with his dribbling, and he will typically fill a space that someone else is trying to move into during passing movement. It feels like we're sometimes carrying him until he pops up for the goal. My biggest concern is that when he goes through bad form, we're just playing 10v11.
Great point. Those attributes you mentioned are the attributes of a classic old school striker. Someone like Philipo Nzaghi. They do less and score more. I think that's how Trossard is.
@@handawtinc7481 agreed. The problem is the lack of contributions to the rest of the team. We're not a unit that can have the odd man out. This is going to be a real conundrum in the summer because I think we can absolutely upgrade on him, but will the replacement have the output that Trossard has?
Jorginho has cost us two titles now. Please James, I know he is your country man but he is not at the level to play for Arsenal in the champions league. James ngl mate this channel was needed for my daily doses of TH-cam, keep it up 👏😂
😂🙏❤️ will do!
But I do love him ❤
Trossard is better as a false 9. We just have to play him as we’re short with Odegaard out. I’d rotate him and Nwaneri depending on level of opponent.
Why does Trossard look like a cross between himself and Jack Wilshere in the thumbnail?? :D
Trossard is a beast - great player and is probably the best finisher in the club at the moment
Trossard will start tomorrow and Nwaneri might start against Southampton
Trossard should come on as a sub for Nweneri while martins out. I think it will flow better and if not then you can bring him on to snag a goal.
Too much overrating Nwaneri here, he wil not start tomorrow
You can start trossard but that has zero to do with nwaneri’s quality. I thought he was all hype last year, nope, the kid is talented and in time will force major minutes. Trossard has earned his spot right now
If nwaneri is starting,. Trossard's playing on the lw for me..Martinelli is very unreliable.
Nwaneri is still a substitute but he can definitely start. In cup games.🙌
Internet shaquille levels of delivery. Man knows we’re here to hear him out so he lets the visuals run the intro while he starts speaking from moment 1. Efficient.
Straight into it!
Take Partey off, move Rice back, Nwaneri plays as the 8
I agree that Nwaneri needs to play and i would play him ahead of Trossard on this game and even against Southampton
The boy is a gem and is ready
Forget his age.
@@bryanross421 I’d argue where he’s playing now is Trossard’s best position though
Reminds me of Lautaro Martinez (obviously not as good)
Its hard to fit a cylinder into a square peg.
This is the thing: you need Nwaneri you create and work his magic and you need Trossard to be there to score the goals.
@@marcbeaudoin73 I get you!!
Arsenal saved £62mil when Trossard signed. He has played 52 matches and scored 21 goals.
Mudryk has played 53 matches and scored 7 goals.
Trossard doesn’t look like he is doing anything but is doing something. Look at the goals
ease ethan in. no worries exist as it pertains to either player. once odegaard is back, leo and martinelli will go back to alternating.
Trossard is ok. No problem there
He’s Solskjaer we just need to get on board with it
i think arteta can use them both depends on the game, tbh i think trossard is better at this inside forward/second striker position rather than left wing
I think it's pretty simple, have him on the left wing instead of Martinelli.
Don't understand what all this forced debate is about
We wouldn’t question trossard if he was English… poor video this is. He’s one of our most effective players
To be honest joji looks good in the 6 because rice stays closer to him. When it's TP5 he over move
I think trossard problem is that he lacks pace so because of that he can't cover alot of ground how ever he is good in-between tight spaces thats y he is so good in and around the box where he can use that small burst of pace he as an show case is creative side....he cant drive with the ball for too long the opponent is gonna catch up to him
@@jeviasgodasmywitness6753 yep great point, lack of pace plays a part
@TheGoonerverse yep hence y he look so much quicker an more effective coming off the bench because martinelli as already drain defenders energy during the game....but if we gonna play trossard as a 10 we gonna need to keep him up near the box
He wants to play the old 8 not minding the modern 8 is both 8 and 10.
Arteta is going to start the same 11 as against Leicester if Calafiori is fit. No Kiwior or Jorginho.
Trossard is by far miles better than Kai Havertz in terms of offensive actions and winning important goals. He should come in first ahead of Havertz.
Secondly you lot are quick to say “Partey’s legs are gone”. How you can’t see that if Partey’s legs are gone Jorginho’s is dead and buried amazes me. Beginning to sound like racism to me.
I think he does quite enough, maybe he is not the player you want, but he does what he's paid to do
I think you're nit picking regarding Trossard.
I was at The Emirates when Eddie Nketiah scored TWICE on his debut for Arsenal, everyone thought
he was the second coming and we know how that turned out. Nwaneri is 17 and done NOTHING in
football stop hyping him, remember Theo Walcott? Can you really say he had a great Premier League
career of the highest level, he started out as a young "prodigy" too right?
Trossard scores great and valuable goals when we need him to, that's more than enough.
I think you're finding fault where there is none, to be frank.
When do we think Merino makes his debut?
Arteta not being brave enough to start Ethan is annoying
Too smart bya half.
Trossardinho gets us points
@@HectorMartinez-xc3iv exactly my point
Your dislike for Partey is always proven..the guy is better Georginio at least according to Arterta and that is the only reason he plays when fit..
@@carloskwakuefaattafuah911 I’ve praised Partey a lot
Nwaneri is more proactive than Trossard, that's his biggest appealing point.
🥽
This isn’t a conundrum. Trossard is one of our best finishers and creative players. He’s registered loads of assists and goals for us when we needed him the most. Put some respect on his name.
@@Joshboyes1 I’ve put respect on his name by
1. Saying I love him and giving him many Man Of The Match shouts &
2. Counting all his goals against the top sides and putting them into a graphic to highlight how clutch he is
BUT, there’s a reason so many people see him as a great 12th man and not a guaranteed starter - so we’re exploring that in this video
2 min flashes doesnt win the game ultimately!
What is this new buzzword "clutch" everyone using? Like "gaslighting"
@@ROC14088 clutch just means they keep a cool ahead and deliver in big moments. Scoring big goals in big games is ‘clutch’
@@TheGoonerverse thanks
WHY THE FOOOK YOU GUYS AFTER TROSSARD WHO IS THE MOST LETHAL AND EFFICIENT PLAYER IN THIS TEAM! PUT RESPECT IN HIS NAME! AND HE DESERVES TO PLAY EVERYGAME CAUSE HE GETS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE MATCH - GOAL OR ASSIST!
@@oma_gooner you crazy I’ve literally praised him loads in this video
Let's not disrespectful Trossard please.
These are the kind of videos that attempt to divide the fanbase.
Let's back our boys. Nwaneri will get his chances here and there but Trossard starts
@@dmensah6631 sorry but how on earth have you taken this video so negatively? I’ve gone out my way to also discuss why I Trossard and show stats that highlight how brilliantly clutch he is. Who else is putting in that research to praise the player atm?
@TheGoonerverse I'm talking in general.
Ya
I would start NWANERI for the rest of the season the guy is so ❤❤❤
Brah what are these cringe pics in the thumb
Shlaaags
I think the problem with trossard is his decision making with the ball and when he doesn't need to think he produces magic
I think Saka is suffering without Odegaard, we’ve switched focus to the left side of the pitch
Jorginho has cost us two titles now. Please James, I know he is your country man but he is not at the level to play for Arsenal in the champions league. Pray partey stays fit because if we have to rely on Jorginho, we can kiss any titles / trophies goodbye
He is done. Hate be blunt but I never want to see his slow ass running behind the attacking player pointing at others to cover areas he should be covering. We can't carry him anymore. Let him do his coaching from the sidelines.
Well said , well articulated, shows you watch the game. He just doesn't like Partey and bashes him at every opportunity
@@diehardgunner4844 all Jorginho’s flaws you’ve mentioned are Partey’s flaws now too. He’s lost his legs. And Partey hasn’t put a performance in against anyone in the last year as good as Jorginho did against Liverpool twice this year and City away too
@@carloskwakuefaattafuah911 😂 ok I mean I disagree
@@TheGoonerverse James he was poor against Bayern both legs cost us champion League, then followed by being poor against Villa , cost us the league. Partey comes in, we haven't lost a game since. The season before for whatever Galaxy brain reason Arteta brings him in we lose against Brighton at home and forest away, cost us the title and that is after riding partey and xhaka all season at the crunch here comes jorginho to screw it up. I am sorry man he may be a great guy but we owe him no minutes. Sit on that bench, tired of the nonsense.
@@diehardgunner4844 I hear you on the unbeaten run with Partey but crazy to say Jorginho cost us any of those games
I think what you’re getting at here is that Trossard isn’t a facilitative player and is there to finish moves as an efficient goal scorer. I think that’s fine and we should be looking to rotate him out the starting line up until it’s a hindrance
@@mikeblake9761 yes BUT I think he can be a facilitative player, so I wonder why we don’t see so much of that side of him?
@@TheGoonerverse I hope it’s an instructions thing where he’s playing like that as a requirement of Arteta rather than playing within himself because I agree with you that he has the talent to do it. But Arteta is also so ruthless I guess he doesn’t want to make mistakes and give Arteta a reason not to trust him as his opportunities are already limited.
I'd play Nwaneri against Southampton.
I agree but I think it's done to Arteta
Trossard lacks physicality. He's too slow and too weak.
Exactly. Gets done physically too often. I like him but he won't impact the game much , only just a good finisher
