She is my favorite of all scandinavian singers along with Agnes and the amaranthe singer. I loved her in nightwish and still loved with her beautiful voice.
Can't understand how people can say she was awful in Nightwish and Nightwish songs were not for her.... Listen to such songs as Meadows of Heaven, Eva or Turn Loose the Mermaids. It sounds so incredible!!!
TLTM is a great song and her voice fits completely with the melody and the theme itself for the song. Exactly the same as the rest of the Imaginaerum songs.
When I heard her voice for the first time I didn't like it at all, but Imaginaerum made me see I was absolutely wrong.
What I think is that Dark passion play was composed for another kind of voice, not hers, and Eva and Meadows of heaven were the ones that completely fitted her voice.

Yeah, but they WISH they could. I bet they're glad Floor is in the band now so they can get back down to business. It'll be interesting to hear if the next album sounds more like their last album, or more like their last album with Tarja.

I don't think Annette taking on songs that were tailored to Tarja's voice was the best for her. But here she sounds simply amazing and will now be purchasing her album.

Anette was supposedly perfect until the "boys" had enough of her. The better question would be "Two women leaving Nightwish write and sing songs about lies. Very telling yes? yes!
She sounds much better solo than in Nightwish. This reveals her true talent.

Anette's solo work and her work with the Dark Element are totally outstanding and she sounds relaxed and at ease . Her singing has opened up with the style she has chosen . All credit to Anette she is truly a great singer and such a beautiful person on the inside and out .

People were so mean to her when she was in Nightwish but I never disliked her at all. I hope they can see she was trying her best. I'm happy this didn't stop her from continuing her career as a singer. Way to go Anette. :3

Teddie Sage I agree 100% I honestly liked her better than Tarja for the part....however Tarja cannot sing Anettes songs and Anette cannot sing Tarjas songs...there are a few that they both sang that are AMAZING sounding and I love both versions...
I never disliked Anette. After I found out that Anette was the lead singer in nightwish I gave her a chance and I am glad I did.

I'm still listening in 2019... Anette will always be one of my all time favorite singers. Whether it's Nightwish, her solo project, or the Dark Element, I will always love her voice.
Anyone who's surprised by how Anette sounds here honestly never listened to Dark Passion Play or Imaginaerum. She sounds exactly like herself, and she showed incredible versatility and technical ability on both those albums. The two biggest issues were that a) the band did a complete 180° turn from their previous vocal style and b) Anette isn't a very technical performer. She brings a lot more energy and enthusiasm on stage than Tarja could ever dream of, but energy alone can't perform Nightwish's older catalogue the way the fans were used to hearing it. Nightwish was actually a great fit for her on the two albums she sang on, but the older fanbase and the older songs themselves were just very unforgiving to someone who has a voice better suited for pop rock or contemporary.

Anette's best show with NW was at the Montreax Jazz Festival, doing blues she sounded just amazing and the songs from Imaginarium and DPP that were written for her voice was great. Where she fell down was trying to sing from Tarja's catalog, it was just terrible.
You would have to have an opera trained voice to do the early NW songs the way Tarja did them. Most singers are not opera trained.

Annette Olzon voice is amazing , even though she is no longer with Night Wish . Despite the fact, many Night wish fans does not like her. This is evidence to show ,she can soar without NW . She has an amazing voice in my perspective .
She sounds relaxed in her own creations. It was my impression that there was always a kind of competition to live up to the Nightwish image. And it may have been that Thuomas was under pressure, his own, in order to keep "Nightwish" up to standards so to speak. I am happy to see that Annette has found her own grounds to stand on and she looks way happier!!!!!!

It is obvious from this video that she is a very competent singer who was matched with the wrong band. She was a horrible fit for Nightwish but a great singer by herself. Parting ways was the best thing for both .

No wonder she left NW. Her voice is just stylistically different from their music. I like this a lot and will be checking out the rest of the album. In terms of solo material I think this is better than Tarja's because its harmonious. The voice, the lyrics, and the music are all in agreement and I just can't say that about Tarja's solo projects. Anette's voice has a certain sweetness that I hadn't heard before and I found it refreshing.

That isn't true according to Wikipedia. She had one before the Imaginereum tour and one more than a year after leaving NW.
***** She left the band in October of 2012 and had a kid in Spring of 2013, and assuming it was the usual 9-month cycle, means she was pregnant during that tour. She was pregnant during an earlier tour too, and I think she has 3 kids so I don't know which is which.

Nightwish have produced wonderful lead singers over the years. Tarja, Anette and Floor all have different voices but fill the symphonic metal role superbly.

I always loved anette in nightwish. I've been a huge fan since 1998 (Oceanborn).
Sure Tarja was great, and Floor (from my country :D) is also great. But Anette was a fresh start. Not in the same category as Tarja, that makes Anette amazing in my opinion. Sure she hasn't got an opera voice, but does that matter? She did great in Nightwish, and is great even now.

I'm amazed at reading the comments about Anette vs. Nighwish and Anette vs. Tarja. If you have never been a fan of Anette and still don't like her up until this point, then what are you doing here? I've been a fan of hers since DPP and I am glad that she is working on her solo career. :) So please, go take your petty arguments elsewhere. I had the opportunity to experience the genius of Nightwish when they came to Kansas City. I just stood there in awe and disbelief. And when Annette took the stage is was like magic. Hard to believe she would be gone a few days later. However, we are looking forward to seeing Floor and the band when they return to the States!!! The best just keeps getting better!
