I just finished Season 1 and I must say: I haven't loved a series this much and been this excited about it's continuation in a very long while! I'm counting the days already. What a brilliant show and brilliant cast.

Dirk Gently's is my favourite cast ever - they are so great together
imho Sam's Dirk is worst iteration of a character, Stephen Mangan's 2010 Dirk portrail is much better
such an underrated and poorly promoted series. an hidden gem and a shame at same time
Wow, Elijah Wood is very good at interviews. He speaks very in-depth about the subjects and he gives his co-stars a lot of credit for their work.

They did lose it, but I'm really liking this new weird Gently even though he isn't like the original.
That's the point. He's not supposed to be a dark and bruding character. He's a Max Landish character who took small parts and inspiration of the story to write what he did. This Dirk is supposed to be exciting, an idiot, one that just goes with the flow, that also has a darker back story. I don't want a character that's like "I know everything and I deem you lesser for not knowing as such". I like the new one.

I was googling other Movies/Tv shows these two had been in and realised Elijah is Wirt, in Over the Garden Wall. I was so happy about this because it's honestly one of the, if not the best shows I've ever watched.

It's fantastic to see how Elijah Wood is absolutely fine with the situation, talking about things he likes, and there is Samuel Barnett next to him, trying to understand what they're talking about (and trying to react, never forget that laugh) :') Elijah is talking about something else, as he said, I guess.

Started watching this for Dirk Gently but found I enjoyed hearing Elijah Wood talk about horror movies more than the show. lol (although I did very much enjoy the show)

So Douglas Adams has been written out!
Mostly because the only thing the books and the show share are the name and the kind of humor, more than that, Max Landis made everything, which is very uncomfortable because he *is* a good writer, but has such a low quality of human being.
I was very disappointed when I saw the show, I intentionally didn't watch any trailers and thought that Elijah Wood's character is Richard Macduff lmao
But I was disappointed in plot itself, it's interesting, but it has nothing to do with Douglas Adams's book other than a main character's name and brief references to books in the pilot

Samuel Barnett is the only reason I've decided to watch Dirk Gently because of Beautiful People (because Adams novels about Dirk happens to be so outdated and boring)
and turns out both tv shows pretty much about the same - trust. and find the people who you can trust. just in different settings.

I'm sorry but can I tell that I'm deeply attractive to Bart and this is so much confusing me but then I realized that that Bart isn't typical female character. so that's why this show so outstanding. it makes me feel... attractive to... girl. And it's not Madonna. and of course I liked Dirk, Martin, brother, Fridkin, Panto omg but that girl also...

First of all, we deserved more DGHDA, and that show deserved a lot more, too.
Second, and I know this is 5 years late, but Elijah! You don't wear hats like that unless you are wearing clown makeup! Hat's are an important part of a gentleman's wardrobe, and wearing a hat that far back because it is several sizes too small is the same as wearing a dinner jacket made for 3 people and wearing suspenders because your pants are too big. You might as well just put on the clown nose and big shoes.
You guys have no idea how much I wish dudes would just learn about hats before wearing them.

OK this is so wrong. What they telling. Because it's clearly Dirk and Bart are the same. They are all protective. One on his way and the Burt just killing the bad guys. They all like destiny, fairy tale karma police, (because you know they must come to the politics first if they real) but one guiding others and other doing all by herself. Eventually all bad guys must be killed. (hello LEXX) One way or another.

Why doesn't anyone here know that Dirk Gently was written by the fabulous Douglas Adams, not some average TV writer?
Jonathan Leech I know that! I only watched it cos I missed the BBC Four version, that was good too, but this one didn't disappoint!
But I wouldn't say this shows writer is average, they produced something fairly original, with enough nods to the book to make me gawk, and kept Dirk's quirkiness nicely contemporary. I'd say they did pretty good. :)
Because Douglas Adams wrote the Books and Max Landis wrote the teleplay for the show. Also Max Landis is definitely not an average writer.

Still, Stephen Mangan's version is the best one, he has the right amount of quirkiness and charm
