A BBSHD with the Ludicrous controller(3000w) cost much less, better parts availability, quieter, and the motor is stamped with the legal 750w info allowing for public street use. No brainer for me. Mine has around 800miles of use with zero issues. My setup: BBSHD, Ludicrous controller, dual 12.5ah 52v packs in all $1050........including the dual batteries. I can hit 50MPH on flat terrain, and have plenty of torque for any hills(on road).
For the record that is a torque sensor on the crank. I now have over 2,000km on my CYC X1 Stealth/Brodie Bandit 2012 Hard Tail. I ride it in the mountains of BC and on the flatland to do errands and store runs. I've calculated I have already saved almost the cost of the motor in 7 months of riding and the entire cost of bike, drive train upgrade, and ElectrifyBike 52V/21Ah battery should be covered by the end of 2022. I've only driven my van 7 times in 7 months. My top speed with a tailwind on the flats with the 1,500watt X1 Stealth is 74.2 kph. But where I just love my build is with the Box Components Box 2 eBike 1x9 drive train that I upgraded to. I do most of my riding in street mode (set to 600 watts), and on pedal assist level 1. On the hills I will up the pedal assist but almost always use way less pedal assist than available so I can get my interval exercises in. But when I am on a steep trail climb and in Race mode...I don't think there is anything I can't climb because of the gears on the Box 2 setup. Puts a smile a mile wide on my face. At 65 years old I feel like a teenager again when I'm riding in the mountains. I got the full grip throttle because of my dirt bike riding in my youth. My buddy has a thumb throttle on his, and I do not like it at all. Way more comfortable to have the full throttle especially if you do long rides like I do. And don't cheap out on the display. Get the 750c display/controller. The thumb controller sits right beside your hand and is WAY more convenient than on the small 500c display. Can't wait to see your results guys. I'm very happy with my X1 Stealth. Best of both worlds. Fast, light, compact, and enough torque (150 N.m.) for anything I can throw at it.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace I just did a ride to the store from our mountain retreat. -5C roads were clear. Battery sure took a hit. I love my Cycmotor Pro G3 on a 58v batery. I put it on an old Santa Cruz Blur. I don't use the whole 5000 watts, the bike frame feels like it might snap at 3000 watts. I've set 3 power settings one at 750 watts so I'm legal on the bike trails, one at 1500 for street riding and the third at 2800 watts for fun. I started with the 58t chainring and it was torque-y! But I had to pedal pretty fast to keep up with my wife on her E-Schwinn's top speed of 22mph. I pretty much use the bike to get to work and do a little touring with my wife so I don't need the torque so got the 76t chainring and can pedal up to ~30 mph without the twist throttle and I'm getting further on a charge. I don't know what my top speed is, I only got up to 52mph and chickened out. It is a bit noisey. Not gasoline engine noisey, but loud enough that people you pass on a bike trail will hear you coming behind them and they will look at you funny. And make sure you do NOT shift you rear derailer under the load of the motor you will break something.
I have a 26-in Schwinn with a Springer front and I've been debating to put a gas motor but I like this electric one and I'm going to modify it some more lowrider style. Most of all I love my giant ape hangers I have on it already. It really helps with my lower back problems and strengthened my core

Would it be possible to use this kit without the crank section/sensor to build a custom off road mobility chair? Does this controller allow for 2 motors control for independent rear suspension on a quad or even a trike? If not, what motor, controller, and battery combo would you recommend for such a project? I am disabled and cant use my legs. My power chair is easily defeated by a 2" bump so it doesn't even go very well on a city sidewalk let alone a hike thru a park, and purposely built off-road chairs are $25,000 or more so I would like to try to make my own but know nothing about electric motors etc. I have a 12 year old son who is very active in sports and sometimes im not even able to get to the field he's playing on because of a hill too steep or grass too long and wet. Its very frustrating and demoralizing. I've been following your channel for a few months now to get ideas and I would sincerely appreciate any feedback you're willing to give. Thank you.
Two bbshd 1500 watt would do the trick. I’m about 260 lbs and on my bike it will literally go up ANY hill. I’ve put over 8000 miles on it with absolutely ZERO issues from the motor, controller, or battery. The motor kit without the battery is about $650. If you have any questions let me know. Not really...depending on how you use the power..I also maintain my chain after every other run..(cleaning it checking for weak links and oiling it) haven had one break yet...plus I always keep an extra one on long trips..they're fairly inexpensive
I like this motor and am wondering how much it costs. I have an idea that would make this work very well for a hybrid bike ( both electric and gas ) pedal assist bike for hunting. And still being able to use all of the gears without having to delete any of the front sprocket sand install a Jack shaft to be able to do so.
If you guys are running 72v 200amps max. That’s well over 5kw. That’s almost 15kw. That controller will handle it all day long but I’d keep a temp sensor on that motor.

Besides Benfangs this is really the only quality option. Think of this as a refined Cyclone3000. The lightningrods big block is good but not a kit. Drivetrain and wheel/hubs take a pounding over a few thousand watts so the evolution is headed towards left hand drive. Just leave the original drive components (right hand side) alone!
Just enough power to keep snapping your bicycle chain. That’s the problem with high powered mid drives. The drivetrain on a bicycle cannot handle this.
Definitely looks like Christmas I think you might need a storm trooper outfit to try it out I just recently got the rad runner/passenger package and there's absolutely 💯 no reason why I couldn't go 120 mph and wear a space suit, hell I might even put a hang glider on mine
Wow almost 7 horse power🐎 power in the palm of your Hand👌 And motor lead in wires less than 10 gauge in diameter that are good for 200amps. Defies physics. And the hats sold.
Looks like the planetary is 1/3 the width of the motor frame, making it so you could easily fit the rotor and stator in your palm of your Hand. Less than the size of a 4" cube at 5000 watts it's gonna glow red. You will definitely hit curie temp on the magnets
Almost got one.. but car motor cost as much. Lol seriously though electric motors are about the same. Some can be made better.. but basically the same. You add that controller however To any electric motor and it will perform better.. Can you say? ASI BAC God bless
Don't see the purpose of a 5000 w mid drive, unless it's running off with special chain and a special drivetrain. Aluminum-free hubs practically crumble around 1,500 w, 5000w just going out and breaking stuff.
that bafang bbshd is junk i got 3000 miles on mine an it already over heats an drains my batt so fast it aint worth riding sure makes pretty wall hanger in shop though
Ok ok ok IT'S 5000 BLOODY WATTS !! WE GET IT ! IT SAYS 5000W IN THE VIDEO'S TITLE !!! YOU DON'T NEED TO SAY IT'S 5000 WATTS A HUNDRED TIMES THROUGHOUT YOUR BLOODY VIDEO !
the price is extortionate, you can buy a well equipped full suspension bike with a nicely integrated proven bafang/bosch motor for the price cyc want for the motor and battery kit alone, so why do these companies even bother.
i have not tested yet but this kit suppose to give you above high level performance that these mid range ebikes has to offer... It is also good for those that have already a frame they like or convert a full bike to motorcycle performance.
@@ElectricVehicleSpace The same can be said for upping the voltage of the battery for your basic e bike, this will enable longer range and more speed, within reason, this cyc kit is still a ridiculous amount of money to spend to upgrade a none e bike into an e bike and the work involved is an added bonus-NOT, lol i am an engineer and appreciate the designs alas the price is way off the scale, if this were like £600 it would be a worthwhile kit.

very cool👍
We are also super excited. The kit looks awesome!
Howr much this ?
i would recommend checking the website since there several configurations.
Thank u
Oh how many watts is this setup ?? Oh yea .. I forgot you'd said it's 5000 watts
Wow!!!!
Just enough power to keep snapping your bicycle chain. That’s the problem with high powered mid drives. The drivetrain on a bicycle cannot handle this.
We will see but I can upgrade the chain
Is there a drive slope curve you can program? Or is it instant on?
Why not so many factories in Europe make this crazy stuff ??!!!
good question.
Don't forget to mention it's 5000 WATTS aye !!
Nice
Yes indeed.
Definitely looks like Christmas I think you might need a storm trooper outfit to try it out I just recently got the rad runner/passenger package and there's absolutely 💯 no reason why I couldn't go 120 mph and wear a space suit, hell I might even put a hang glider on mine
Epic!
Wow almost 7 horse power🐎 power in the palm of your Hand👌
And motor lead in wires less than 10 gauge in diameter that are good for 200amps.
Defies physics. And the hats sold.
I forgot the wire thickness but it will support enough load. Very capable kit.
Looks like the planetary is 1/3 the width of the motor frame, making it so you could easily fit the rotor and stator in your palm of your Hand. Less than the size of a 4" cube at 5000 watts it's gonna glow red. You will definitely hit curie temp on the magnets
👍 👍 👍
spasibo!
👍 И Вам Спасибо, за ваши ролики молодец продолжай радовать новыми выпусками✋🔥🎅
doing that on the stone table hurts so much. rip paint
yes indeed but it is ok
Should be anodised, no paint
Damn we could all be throwing Spears.. Look at all this nice stuff we get to buy and look at thanks guys.
?
@@ElectricVehicleSpace been watching a lot of evolution. We weren't born then.
@@chriswebb6153 can you post something useful? 🤔
watt?
5kw
Shocking
I'm glad you liked it!
WOW
No way that's a 5kw motor. And at that power those wires are too small they would definetly fry..
Almost got one.. but car motor cost as much. Lol seriously though electric motors are about the same. Some can be made better.. but basically the same. You add that controller however
To any electric motor and it will perform better..
Why do want such a loud motor?
I have not had the chance to install and test it but how do you know is loud? It depends on the sounds it may actually be 😎
Controller is Ginormous
That must be a good thing. 👍
Wow.
👍👍👍👍
A man can put out 200 steady watts. So multiply that by 25Xs

House?
?
I want that controller...
you can buy it from the cyc company.
That is a over killed hub motor.
we will sew in the final assembly and test how much overkill it is.
Obviously there is zero waterproofing abilities right?
I am not sure yet but I will check.
I hate when I say a common word like monsterous and Google turns it into something weird like monster House. Read the context, Google.
interesting...
Ok ok ok IT'S 5000 BLOODY WATTS !! WE GET IT ! IT SAYS 5000W IN THE VIDEO'S TITLE !!! YOU DON'T NEED TO SAY IT'S 5000 WATTS A HUNDRED TIMES THROUGHOUT YOUR BLOODY VIDEO !
Headlights, not flashlight
I'm glad you got it 👍
Geez. Only 1000. 😬
the price is extortionate, you can buy a well equipped full suspension bike with a nicely integrated proven bafang/bosch motor for the price cyc want for the motor and battery kit alone, so why do these companies even bother.
i have not tested yet but this kit suppose to give you above high level performance that these mid range ebikes has to offer...
