- KB9VBR J-Pole Antenna Review and Demonstration with another ham station that I worked while on the review using the review. This video shows roof mount, coax, balun, and demonstrates the solid tuning and near at approx. 1.5:1 SWR or less of this antenna. Great antenna for $35, can't go wrong with it, I highly recommend it.
kb9vbr made me one of these about 7 years ago and tuned it to rail for my scanner. it's one of the best antenna's i've ever purchased. it's been thru quite a bit including hash ohio winters and a couple of really nasty storms. it's never missed a beat.
Great job and thanks for the video! I love your installation. Very neat and tidy.
most of the j pole designs I see on the web, the coax centre goes to the long side for the driven element. It's reversed here? Also J poles like to be far away from anything else metal. 73
Cool! Great antenna, I want one! What's the frequency range on it?
ok this is kinda freaking me out... I am looking to put together my own J-pole for GMRS, on the J-pole calculators I see and some pics the center conductor is running to the longer tube and the coax shield is running to the shorter tube. but yours is the opposite have to looked at the SWR?
That J-pole looks great. Do you think one would work if you turned the 2m pipe back on itself similar to a Slim Jim?
Wow, that's amazing distance to hit on the repeaters with an HT! I guess I'm just starstruck because I haven't got a roof mount antenna yet :^) Going to get one pronto!
when mounting an antenna how do you protect from lightning strikes?
Hi There, I haven't seen one with the inner connected to the short matching stub, but it seems to work ok, maybe doesn't make any difference, or is it an optical illusion ..Fred in England.
I just received one of these in the mail so your video is very helpful. I plan to use hose clamps to attach to a plumbing vent.....good idea??
You bet, glad I purchased one from you. It has paid for itself already. -73 ;)
You'll get gain out of this j pole if you correct the feed point.
Can i get a link to that adapter you are using?
nice
good
Excellent i am getting on next week just for family mobile with 8 watt ham radios we plan on utilizing our own channel with baofeen repeater u think it is possible to reach about 100 miles with custom freq in all my radios its just for emergency to keep up with family around Houston Tx for bad weather and such when phones go out and power. U think i can get about 100 miles with that kind of set up and a Baofeng repeater thanks
Friend this antenna and VHF and UHF
