Hearing the book read to me, which I like but I also like the feel of the book and pages while seeing the written word as well, with the author narrating is the best. The feel of the story is more authentic because only the writer knows the tone of his words, whether sarcasm is implied, the mood in which the writer was in during said work of art, and the pace at which the story should be taken in. Some books I take my time with, others I speed thru. And for the record(yes I am going to begin my sentence with and or but), I AM MR. STEPHEN KING'S BIGGEST ADMIRER!

‘Twas an honor to have him reading this book, I must agree. 👍

He gets infinitely better as he builds up his self-confidence.

I hope everyone who is interested in listening to this audiobook would read my comment first.
Stephen King is not a professional reader. In the beginning of this audiobook, his voice sounds like absolute shit and his timing is way off on the punctuation.
That being said, if you keep in mind that he begins the audiobook awkwardly because it is awkward for him, but like anyone else he slowly gains self-confidence and actually becomes quite good. If you don't believe me, just skim over to 5:08:00 and hear his Jack Palance impression. It's spot on! Give him a chance, remember, he knows what his own characters sound like.
Just keep listening, muscle through it until he gets there. About an hour in I'd say. You'll be happy you did.

I feel so ashamed however I hate listening to Kings voice. The first four books spoiled me because they were so rich with I don't know performance.

I thought so too at first, but then he get’s a lot better. Like he needs to find his confidence.

So many Steves to choose from... First Steve that comes to mind is my Uncle Steve Vincent, my favorite Steve. Àfter Vincent comes Steven Craig Lewis(after my Uncle Steve, who's first comes the order in which I met Steves), then Steve SINCLAIR, moving on to crazy Steves, Stephen Scarborough( I AM a bitch, and that reason I gave you to call me that was a present from my brother😮), next crazy Steve, Steven Rorie, and finally, the best author/writer in history, Stephen King. The Kings lived beside my aunt Etta and bought her land when my Dad made me sell it. (Obey and be grateful, he did give you the money Amanda)

Emphasis on certain words, that was what I was gonna say. Only the author knows which words linger, which words were emphazied, and so on.

Stephen King is an awesome writer - the King of Horror. But this story really needs a professional voice actor. Just saying....
