Move the caster wheels to the recommended position. It will move the center of gravity... Think of the casters as a fulcrum. Moving the casters forward will make the front of the lever (the blower overhang) shorter and the power part of the machine (the back end of the lever) longer. Doing so it will put more weight on the back wheels... i.e., it will balance the machine better.
Try moving the first cable you connected to the other side, it looks like it would be much straighter and it would clear that belt much better.
No advice from me. My snowthrower is me with a shovel. 😂
Same here.😂
Get a decent used paddle blower for 200 bucks. Toro 2 cycle is your best bet. Powerful and eat through anything.
@@jamesnm21I've bought several of the 2 stroke Toro's for less than $50 ea. off Craigslist. I think I paid $30 for the last one I bought several years ago. I love these things. All I've done is put a new scraper & rubber paddles on it. I just got another one I found on curb in trash. I thought is was just an old machine but upon further inspection when I got home. The piston is seized. I have it soaking for a week or so now, hopefully it breaks loose. Idk if it was run w\out 2 stroke oil in gas or just moisture and\or rain got in it from sitting outside. It was definitely sitting out in the weather, it has mud & leaves caked on the bottom. Worst case is I gotta put cylinder & rings on it to get it going. I doubt it though, these things are really hard to kill! May have to touch up the cylinder w\ a hone but idk yet. It was free, so IDC if I gotta spend a few bucks to get it going. I'm pretty sure the concoction I put in the cylinder last week will dissolve the rust & free it up. We shall see. Gonna wait til next week & not be inpatient. 👍🏻👌🏻💨⛷️❄️☃️⛽🛢️
@@tdotw77 I've got a Toro and an Ariens and the Toro is my favorite. They're great little machines
thats why im buying a dr multi machine
Loved reading the comments. It's nice to learn something new.
Seems like it pushes more than blowing for sure
That third hose is the return line for excess hydraulic fluid so you don’t blow out a seal by having too much pressure. Look for a hookup near the hydraulic oil tank
Usually called a case drain.
second upvote for case drain, zero pressure return to tank is all it needs.
Nice .I own that same blower .& there should be a coupler for that small hose & also the oil in your hi flow should be a redish colour . mine had summer oil .changing the oil made a big difference
The front wheels need to be in the forward position, having them back is taking weight off the back, not adding.
I agree wheels forward won’t make machine tip forward can see at very end of video difference would make wheels in center position
The wheels have 3 positions to choose from.change to a metalscraper bar for better results. That one hose your machine did not have a hookup to probably went to the auger for more speed to throw the snow farther than yours did.
Plow works faster no belts to burnup ect
Exactly the front wheels act as the fulcrum, putting them forward would less front heavy, and put more weight on the rear tires.
Move wheels in front forward to hold the weight on the front up and will increase the counter weight of the back 🎉
Third line on High Flow is “return to tank”. Will save the hydraulic motor from overpressure and will help you hi flow side run cooler.
If you dont connect the third line to the tank, it will eventually blow the seal on the motor
Moving the casters back will make it easier for the front to lift the back off the ground. Tire chains might help, but I'm not sure how you feel about chains on your concrete. Your piling problem might just be this snow was really wet--snowball snow. Maybe lighter density snow will flow thru better. I've had similar problems with my snowblower. wet snow piles up but "regular" snow flows well. 🚜❄
I dont live in snow but enjoyed learning something new. Thanks❤
U need to put the shoot cable bolted to the other side not near the frame it will move easier
Thanks Fill!!!!
Take washers out and put cable on outside of mounting bracket your bolt will clear and cable will be straight .
Cool video, Fill! Looks like a lot of fun in the snow. All of our snow has melted and the rain has moved in. It's super wet here in Mowssouri. Not going to be doing much work for a while. Take care man!
Good video. You've taught us alot. Definitely enjoyed the watching. God bless you and your family.👍❤️🙏🙏
Toros are 🔥 that thing cleared the sidewalk in one pass looks great
Cool video. Definitely appears to be underpowered. I'm surprised at the short distance it throws snow, even if it is a heavier snow.
2:04 That connection sure looks like it's on the wrong side of the attachment point. As it looks now, the bolt head doesn't have enough clearance.
Wow this is so awesome equipment. Fantastic explanation in the end.
VERY interesting video. Thanks for posting! 👍🏼
Toro does extra large snow tires for your mower that would probably help along with the weights but till you get those just use the blade or bucket they seem to work well
0:49 If that was my machine, I'd rotate the black vertical support bracket around, so that mounting bolt is on the inside of the frame (not outside). I'd attach the shoot cable end on the outside of the bracket, not between the bracket and the black support arm. Bonus: Get a Yeti Rambler Bottle and Bottle Sling, to carry hot beverages (anti-freeze).
Hose is case drain. It needs to return to the hyd. Tank!!
That was like putting a puzzle together with the last piece open, but the last piece doesn't fit. I came on to mention moving the casters forward but see it was already mentioned.
Looking at the head light on the far right is out . I'm from Murfreesboro, TN I never had to use a snow blower, watching your videos I think when you use the bucket it scraped the sidewalks clean, I liked it better than leaf blower.
Good video Fil
Good job and God bless you and your family 🙏
Looks like there's a headlight out.😊
You need to do a modification to the impeller in order to get the snow out of the shut faster that way it will clear it self better and it will throw the snow farther out.
Remove the shut and measure the propeller paddles and install pieces of conveyor belt to the impeller.
There is a video on TH-cam that shows how to do this modification.
It works I did it to my 2 stage snow blower and it does the job including the slushy snow also.
Awesome video
Stay Blessed, my friend.
Fine Machine!!
Looks like fun! 😊
You do a nice job of explaining things.
Very interesting to me as I live in a tropical climate place.
Handy yoke 😊 greetings from Galway, Ireland 😊
Looks like it needs a much faster second stage. That's a pitiful distance to throw even wet snow.
Curious about how effective the steel brush attachment (on the weed wacker) might be on snow? Have you tried that? Maybe what the snow blower or plow leave behind?
You think that’s heavy wait until you try your power broom. You’re not gonna like that attachment either. Had to return my broom attachment, thankfully my dealership took it back.
Me and the kids loving snow action
That unit must have one heck of an oil cooler. Moving heavy wet snow with a hydraulic motor works well but it generates thousands of BTU’s.
I think you might have that bracket mounted backwards from a quick glance but sure you tried every possible way already
3:25 This is a drainage hose. It is necessary so that, under high load, the oil seal in the hydraulic motor does not squeeze out. If you close this exit, the hydraulic motor will break down. Find a way to connect this hose to the oil tank, otherwise the oil will gradually leak out of the system.
I also use chains
That's one hell of a machine
The wheel weighs should help with traction, hope you figure out that smaller line.
Not what I expected. 😊
The small hydraulic hose is a case drain 2:39
thanks for posting. I have the blade and I want to like the blower but it just doesn't seem to work that great especially considering the price.
Wonder if he’d get more auger rom with the case drain hooked up? Thoughts?
I looked at the manual and you have the “high flow setup” on the attachment. My suggestion is to look at the hydraulic tank to see if the case drain adapter (male plug fitting) is missing, it should be between the two large hoses. Without case drain it puts back pressure on the end of the pump and will eventually cause it to fail or run poorly.
It needs a lip at the bottom to scrape the snow and then a rotating part to spread it
Your extra line is a case drain for your hydraulic motor....low pressure and should be connected so that the flow can be returned back to the main hydraulic reseverior.
That small hydraulic line is for case drain! It must be routed back to tank!
That 3rd hose is called a case drain. It is supposed to go back into the tank, directly. You will crack the case on the hydraulic motor or blow out the seals without it connected. I would not operate the snow blower without the case drain connected.
You have oil feed and return and the small line is case drain which is needed for motor internal leakage, gotta have it or your motor may have issues! Case drain usually runs back to tank no restrictions.
Looks like chains would a wonder for you.
Move your castor wheels like the directions said, and your right, the auger is too slow. They need to turn it up.
moving those small front wheels forward will help put more weight on the back wheels. The further you take them back, the less weight will be put on the back wheels. Think of it as a see-saw. Trust the manufacturer on this one.
I hate wet snow! I bet this works great in powder!
the control cable should be on the inside of the bracket i believe(,shoot control cable)
The extra hose is a case drain I believe.
They should have invented this snowblower twenty years ago. I think it did a good job on that snow, but I wonder about ten or more inches of snow.
They did, I have an MTD blower from 1998, still works great with my 18 hp lawn mower. Belt drive does not leak oil at all either.
The Shute empeller has hardly any throwing force.
Install rubber impellers on your impeller blades
❤
What does a Toro owner say after the plows go by? SWEEEET
Looks like augar is turning in the wrong rotation
Put the casters all the way forward
definitely need to move the front wheels forward
4:50
4" or 5" of snow ?
Looks more to be an inch and a half to two inches.
Put the eyelet on the other side of the bracket
So basically it can throw snow 10’. Hmm. Thanks for doing a video. Not too many to find . Now i kind of know why.
The third line is a case drain line for the hydraulic motor. It needs to be routed to the return side of the system. Without it being open to return, it is fighting itself and won't operate as it should. Most likely a reason for the poor performance of the blower.
Check to confirm your impeller is at 2600 Feet Per Minute or greater. Also check the clearance between the impeller blades and the impeller housing is close. And please don’t blow gravel. Watching your video I can see your blower is anemic. That’s the reason I didn’t use a hydrolics motor.
Snow blowers are a slower way to move snow. If your only having 3-5 inches then use a front blade. The pile in the front is normal with snow blowers. Snow blowers take HUGE horsepower. That blower looks to be around four foot wide. I use an eight foot wide snow blower on a 150 HP tractor and I can run out of power in deeper snow.
Things to help it work better. 1) As other have posted move the wheels as far forward as you can. You have them in the worst place for that heavy front load. 2) Like others pointed out get that third hose hooked up so it returns to the tank without any back pressure. 3) Install you rear wheel weight and lower the rear tire pressure. That will make the tires have a larger foot print.
I really think that as a commercial contractor, this unit is going to be too slow and is more of a gimmick than a helpful tool. Multi attachment units usually do nothing great and lots of things half way.
You mounted a what? 😂😂😂
One other person said it, the cable is mounted on the wrong side of the bracket, that is why the bolt does not fit, that " thrust " washer should be put in it's proper place, I would also highly suggest anti-seize compound on the threads, ya the gooy stuff, locktite is a good product, but call me old fashioned....it's messy but it works, locktite not so much in colder temps.... a small lick of grease on all pivot points you can, will save you money down the road, too bad toro did not make a electric joystick type of setup for chute control, they have those electric lift rods on ali express... and never, ever, ever clean the chute or auger while the machine is running... :) sorry cant help it, gotta add the safety tip
so I see the snow is not blowing very far out the chute, on the spinning stage (ie 2 stage snowblower) the spinning part that blows the snow out the chute, their is a 1 inch space in the back that gets packed with ice plow slop from the street and turns in ice/hard packed snow. next time look for that when the snow is not shooting out far
PS my snowmachine is a walk behind one.
1:20 shouldn’t cable be just mounted on other side of the lever?
Seems like a flame thrower would be more effective?
Leaves a lot of snow when you stop.
So…how does it work in a real snowfall…like a foot and a half or more?
drop you tire pressure by 5 pountds! better traction
Looks to me like it's pushing more that it's throwing.
Some small tractor tire chains would go a long ways with the spinning out, and it looks like you need to shift the weight forward. Make sure when you go to balance it you put your body weight equivalent where you would stand. Wicked machine otherwise!
i would rather have a tracked mini tractor /backhoe with a enclosed cab and all the attachments for plowing, digging ditches, post holes, tree planting holes, grabbing up tree logs,limbs,branches...
Looks like cable should be on other side of bracket
Theyt sell tire chains for your machine.
Well you got a lot of attention hope it helps 😊
Apparently you never studied physics in high school. The further forward the casters, the more of the snowblower weight they will carry and the more weight you will have on your rear wheels. Following the instructions in your manual will probably improve the efficiency of your operation. To be fair, a snowblower’s performance is at the worst in heavy, packy snow. And having your shute higher will allow you to blow the snow further.
Do your neighbors and community a favor! store your trash cans on the side of the house or in the garage you have such a nice place the cans out front are not helping it But good video 👍🏻
Need tire chains
Looks like the eyelet is on the wrong side of the bracket.
looks like it needs help
I used to really rely on Toro machines but over the 10 years I have found their quality to be lacking. I have gone to Husqvarna for all of my snowblower needs. They are quicker, more fuel efficient, and throws the snow 3 times farther without clogging like my old Toros did. Plus they are about 15 percent less expensive and I don't have to drive 140 miles to the only Toro dealer in Alaska to buy parts. I can get parts for my Husqvarnas and my Hondas locally.
I think a battery powered snowblower from Amazon could throw snow farther…🤷🏻♂️
Well that's disappointing.
