Logitech G735 Review | The Best Headset EXCEPT… (In-depth Review)

  • The Logitech G735 Aurora Collection Wireless Headset uses Lightspeed Wireless AND Bluetooth at the same time. Allowing you to hear AND balance both at the SAME TIME. Which is pretty neat. Additionally, they looks crisp AF, have incredible comfort as it is incredibly lightweight, and the earpads are soft and malleable. Additionally, there is a lot of movement for the earcups themselves. Sound quality is solid. Making it for a well-rounded albeit expensive headset. WARNING: These do not work on PS5 via 2.4 GHz.
    What do you guys think of the price? Do you think it is worth it? I'd love to discuss.
    Honestly, I'm still LOVING the sound, look, and comfort of these. I was playing Horizon Zero Dawn last night with a different pair of headphones and then took those off to put these on and felt so much more immersed. They may not be the most accurate sounding but man do they make it feel like you are there.as

      Price has to do with materials. If you own the Apple AirPod max you’ll notice that they use them as inspiration for these headphones. Higher end materials result in higher prices. 😅

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Z_3D While I agree that price and materials do go hand in hand, I don’t see this headset having higher quality parts than others at lower price brackets, but perhaps I’m missing something. I do own the AirPods Max and while I agree some of those materials help justify the cost even those are still way over what they should be for what you get. Personally, I find the drivers and sound quality to be in the $100 range. The cushions you could argue to a certain degree put it in the upper end as is the headband wrap. So, agree there. But have seen lower tier headsets with similar quality for a lot less. The paint is very good as well. Which helps justify upper end, but not premium price bracket to me. Microphone also comes in at the $100 - $150 range for me in terms of the ones I’ve tested. Yes, it is solid. I think $150 - $175 is justified. $225 I personally think is excessive for what you get.
      But I’m extremely interesting in hearing your thoughts on the matter. What makes you think this headset is using higher end materials over something cheaper? Or what justifies the cost in your opinion?

      @@ThomasMuehler I noticed the other ones in the gaming line up are all plastic based housing without the metal articulating band. I suppose I will agree with you after they arrive and I try them on and compare to my other headsets. I don't have anything that will provide mic input and ps5 compatibility out of the box. I saw them all at Akihabara mall in Tokyo and decided on these based on your review and my time trying them on in person. Hopefully the price will go down as the year passes. I've seen the other rgb option on best buys website for 50 dollars off!

      @@ThomasMuehler I can't really hear much on it. Ive turned it all the way up and raised the volume on the PS5. I'm really just astounded at how low it is. You were right. Not worth the price.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Z_3D You’ve definitely got me thinking a lot about the quality of components that I think I overlooked originally. I do appreciate that. As like you say the metal articulating band is better than most that are plastic. I doubt they will reduce in price and I’d be interested to hear what else you think and find on them once you get them in and get more familiar with them.
      Unfortunately, they DO NOT work on PS5. As your findings are similar to my own and many others in my comments thread. I’m pretty sure it is due for licensing. Where since Logitech didn’t pay Sony (my assumption not confirmed) they artificially limit the sound to be exceedingly low and unusable. Even though they come up on the PS5 as working correctly. Which is dumb. However, you could plug it in via 3.5 mm Aux into your controller and it should work normally (but you’ll need a 4 pole aux cord so mic will work). Bluetooth also may work (I’m not sure if PS5 even has Bluetooth) but you’ll notice some latency with it. Otherwise it only works on PC (3.5 aux, Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless) and phone (via Bluetooth). Where you’ll notice volume is just fine. I missed it too as they don’t mention official support for consoles. Again, not sure why they chose not to have these work on console. Which just reinforces my opinion that I think Logitech totally dropped the ball on this headset and line of peripherals.

    I've had this headset for over a month now, and I adore it. As a female gamer I find other headsets are waaaay too big for my head and ears and are loose and uncomfortable, these are perfect!
    A huge problem that I've had with other headsets is it being a bit too noise cancelling and I find myself shouting, these are perfect and dont make me feel deaf to my own voice.
    They are so soft and comfortable and light even with glasses on, no creaking so far and they are fantastic on the go with a huge bluetooth range.
    The GHub is great for customising the lights on the headset and the battery life is exceptional!!
    Now the cons, the mic is absolutely awful, even with the post processing presets. Its just awful, no ifs or buts about it. And of course the price, its so pretty and comfortable but shouldnt be more than 150 in my personal opinon.

      I have a small head too and deal with the same issues you mentioned, which is what drew me to these (aside from how pretty they are lol) but the mic is really horrible (especially for how much they cost). I currently have Steelseries Arctis 7+ which have an okay mic but it retracts which I adore so much and don't know if I could live without now. They were too big originally but I got thicker earcups from amazon and it solved that issue perfectly, though it can cause some discomfort with glasses after a long time (but that's usually a good signal that I've been on my computer too long lol). I just wish they were all white. They are really sleek and minimal and feel super high quality but the aurora headset definitely wins in aesthetics. I guess ill just have to go try on the auroras in store, but I cant tell if they would be a more expensive downgrade. They're so pretty though I wish I could combine the best of both😭

    I picked up a pair on sale for $80 off today, so I'm happy.
    I really wish the headset had connectivity via the USB cable, but alas I learned that the USB cable appears to only be for charging. My Corsair has ability to connect via dongle, usb cable, or Bluetooth so I do kinda miss that option. I don't use 3.5mm connections anymore.
    I still have to experiment more with this headset, but so far seems ok. My intent is to primarily use it for Teams, Zoom, and training video watching on the PC, and perhaps to use the Bluetooth for calls & listening to music from my phone.
    I love the feel wearing these. Very comfortable. Probably the best I've used in recent memory. They look amazing as well.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I found it wild that USB is only for charging. As that doesn't make sense to me. Especially, for the price.
      If you remember to update me I'd love to hear how it works out for you with Teams and so on. As I'm getting a lot of comments who want to use it for the same thing and would love to hear how it works from a real world perspective so I can share it with them.
      Definitely very comfortable and are one of the most attractive headsets I've seen. And for $80 off I think you got it at a good price for what you get. But again, looking forward to hearing your findings if you care to get back to me.

      This was the exact reason I looked up a review of the headset as I just got them during Prime Day for a lot off as well, making them well below the 200 price and more in the range of 150 aka their worth. Now, I realize the USB is only for charging as confirmed by this comment thread... :( Is there a way to maybe have them charging AND usable at the same time? Another cord purchase perhaps?

    I bought this for my daughter, which she wanted with the aurora collection, and a much cheaper headset, also from logitech, for my son (G635). I tested them both out. First of all, the G635 sound quality is so much better. Second, I'm still trying to get the mic for the G735 to work, which I am doing right now and why I'm watching this at all. I'm pretty disappointed and as a female gamer myself, feeling a little bit like this is a jab at women for not being able to know good quality sound, and that it's not just working right out of the box like the cheaper one, but maybe that's just me.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +13

      I completely agree with you. They market it hard for women while having it at a premium price tier and you get meh results from it. Which I think does come across as a slap in the face. As they could have made a fantastic product for an underrepresented demographic. But instead it feels like a cash grab which is frustrating.
      What issues are you having with the microphone? Perhaps I can help?

    I'm seriously considering replacing my A50's with these (they're too heavy and starting to die) but the $230 pricepoint is hard to justify. The G735s were the most comfortable and aesthetic out of what I tried (I wish HyperX had more color options) but they aren't compatible with PS5/xbox, seems like a step down in sound quality, and the mic sounds horrible (I use another mic anyway but I'd expect it to sound better for this price). I'll probably wait for a deal.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Totally agree with all points. Aesthetic and comfort are great. Sound quality is in general disappointing, especially in comparison to the price point. And compared to the A50's (which I think are one of the best sounding wireless headsets I've tried) it is definitely a step down. Same with the microphone as again the A50 mic is better. But the A50 kind of got cut off at the knees with the optical port not existing on consoles for some time now. As the USB just doesn't provide the same level of audio quality. Also, don't understand how Logitech would charge $230 for a PC only headset and not include consoles. I guess you could technically use Bluetooth but latency may be an issue.
      Anyways, main point is it seems like this headset you take a lot of hits just to have excellent comfort and aesthetics. Which is a real shame. As it is soo attractive.

    • @GFG2gifted
      @GFG2gifted ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Your a50s are superior in every way. Don't downgrade. 🤦‍♂️ There are few headsets/mic that are better. You'd have to go with a stand alone mic and Sennheiser pair of cans to get better audio performance. The g735 we're just gifted to my lady yesterday. They sound great, but definitely not better than Astros.

I tried out g pro x wireles the other day, had a white noise, so had to return it, sound was terrible from the box, but had a potential to be awesome if you play with EQ or find a nice one. forsome reason stock profiles in ghub sounded terrible for g pro x. and 735 is kinda ok from the box, EQ just makes it much better. and for some reason even stock profiles are not that bad for 735, both mic and sound. and my ears finally fit into the ear pads, my old razers were too small. so I'm happy with this headset at the moment and glad I decided to return g pro x. maybe there was a defect, but 735 is a win for me

    Just purchased on amazon, they haven't arrived yet so I can't say how I like them, however they were the only headset I found that was so versatile. I'll be using them primarily for narration and wanted something with the ability to connect to my Blue Yeti mic via 3.5mm jack, so the noticeably crappy mic won't be an issue. (I'm also not at all pleased that the 3.5mm aux cable wasn't included) I also like the ability to connect to more than one source and adjust the volume independently, AND that it matches my whole Pink/white workstation theme with really cool RGB effects... Honestly, if any other headset were able fulfill those needs for less, I'd buy them. If they exist, tho, I haven't found them. Since this is the ONLY headset I found with those features, looks like I'll deal with the hefty price tag.

I will say in general from my testing of Logitech headsets and what I'm seeing on other reviews Logitech headsets tend to not be all that good. Are about C Grade across the board. SteelSeries tends to be well received. Personally, I think their Arctis Nova line is pretty good. Especially, the top of the line Arctis Nova Pro WIreless. I enjoyed the Corsair HS80 Wired a lot. It also comes in wireless but I haven't tried that variant. Razer appears to be hit or miss. Going with Sennheiser (which is now under a different name that I forget) are always excellent. HyperX also tends to be very good.

    I asked for these for Christmas or my birthday (don’t remember) as I was using a hand me down wired razor headset. I’ve had these for somewhere over a year. I find them to be comfortable and they don’t shake off my head, but I have a small head. They have, perhaps, a few barely visible marks but that’s really my fault. It’s otherwise still clean. Mind you, I’ve been storing them under my desk, on the floor. (I really should find a different solution…) Having little reference, I think the sound quality is fine and the mic quality is just alright. But I maybe use the mic like a couple times a week for discord or zoom. I connect them via bluetooth to my MacBook so I don’t typically use the Blue Voice features in GHub. I have never used the LightSpeed and bluetooth at the same time and have no reference for the audio mixing. The battery life lasts my use about two weeks but closer to one week with more use. They charge fast enough for me. The main game I play is Minecraft.
    If you’re not playing audio for a long enough time, they will shut off to conserve battery. This is nice when I forget to turn them off but could be annoying if you are only using the mic.

      I tried a Razer Kraken a long time ago. I'm not sure how they have improved on them or not. So, I'm not sure how they would compare.
      I find this headset to be a mixed bag. I'd read through the comment section. As there are quite a few people who have chimed in with their opinions. I would definitely only get it on sale. As full retail I don't think it is worth the price.
      I'm leaning that you would see an improvement with sound quality. Especially, with my preset. But I say that hesitantly. As each of our ears are different. And I'm not quite sure what Sound Signature you tend to enjoy. If the Kraken's are the same as they have always been then the bass is overwhelming. Where this will have less bass. But hopefully more treble and mids. If you do end up picking them up I'd love to hear your thoughts.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@baniboo All totally fair points. The top padding is very limited so I 100% agree that they could have done more there.
      For me personally, the reasons why I said what I said were.
      1. I find them to be very lightweight. Due to them being lightweight the pressure they put on the top of my head is minimal.
      2. I find that the padding around the ears to be more than I’m used to (compared to most other headsets I’ve tried). It is also quite plushy. With the clamping force being light most of the pressure is pretty even around my ears to keep it in place. But since it is light it doesn’t feel like it is vice gripping my head. But a complain would be because the clamping force is so light that it doesn’t really utilize the plush all the much as it more just sits there without depressing. Which makes it not as comfortable as I would expect when I press it with my finger.
      3. There is adequate movement of the joints to try and fit most peoples heads.
      With that said I do agree with you that these are not the most comfortable headset I’ve worn. They are middle tier. And I would expect them to be a lot more comfortable based on how they look, who built them (Logitech), and how much they cost. This is also one of the reasons why I’m so frustrated with this headset is I think they missed a lot of the critical points.
      Have you tried (as counterintuitive as this sounds) to either tight them a bit more (like push in the headband so more of the pressure is around your ears) or vice versa loosen the headband by expanding it to see if that loosens the pressure and see if that helps. As I’ve noticed that depending on the headset that sometimes a looser or tighter fit is more comfortable.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't tried a lot of gaming headsets so my recommendations are limited. Of the ones I've tried I haven't like too many of them.
      1. Logitech G535 is very comfortable with good/solid sound (but nothing to write home about) microphone is solid as well. But again more middle of the road.
      2. Astro A30. I haven't tried this one yet. I will be getting one but waiting for it to arrive. But I have high hopes for this one. As it looks like it will be very similar to this one but work on every console and hopefully be better with sound and microphone. Same price point. So, honestly that would be the one I would recommend at this time. But could be terrible.
      3. Astro A40/A50 are always a solid bet. I have been using my A50's for a long time and still think they are one of the best headsets you can buy. However, in my review of them (and the pinned comment) I go over the issues with them. Mainly being that they use an optical cord to get the best sound which modern consoles don't have so that means you need to figure out a way around that. If you are playing on a TV and it is modern then it likely has a optical port that would work. But as you can probably tell from my comment already there is work to be done to get them to work correctly with questionable QA which makes it a miss for most people.
      4. The Corsair HS80 Wired is the only headset that I've tried that I absolutely love. Comfort is probably the worst thing about it but I still find it to be very comfortable (but not as comfortable as any of the above. But the microphone is seriously incredible (the best I've ever used on a headset) and sound quality is also really good. However, it isn't fully supported on console. I know they work (sound wise) but not sure about microphone wise (but I thought that worked too but I would double check if you go down this road). They also have a wireless variant that got good praise but I haven't tried them.
      5. Sennheiser Game One is also one that I've really enjoyed all around. But comfort again isn't the best. And it is wired.
      6. Outside of that I start to get into more headphones (which is what I use to game most of the time) along with a separate microphone.
      7. I've heard good things about the newest SteelSeries Nova series and the G Pro X.

    • @diandramonami

      Hi thank you for the recommendations! I thought about it, and checked all the reviews, I think I’m gonna go with Logitech G735 for my ps5 because its looks so good and comfortable!

    • @ThomasMuehler

      @@diandramonami The G735 doesn't work on PS5. The volume is too low making it unplayable. Which is perhaps the thing I hate the most about it. As I really wish it would work as then I'd recommend it more often.
      As for your second question. I'd go with whatever the stock sound settings are with a game you know well then try my EQ settings and then see which one you prefer and go with the one that works the best for your ears.

    I got these and I absolutely love the feel of them BUT I'm having a horrible issue with the audio crackling out. It's only on my PC too, I use these regularly with my work laptop on calls and with music throughout the day without the extra adapter. But when it comes to my PC it's like it won't keep a solid connection and I haven't been able to find any reason for it. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, disconnected & reconnected the bluetooth, and even with it physically plugged in with the cord it came with to my PC it still crackles. It's driving me up a wall and I can't seem to find any post about anyone else having this issue. If you have an pointers that would be wonderful.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm not sure exactly how you've got them setup. So, I apologize if I go over something you've already tried. It sounds like you've done a lot of the things correctly. But looks like you are using it through Bluetooth instead of the 2.4 GHz wireless.
      Just FYI, the USB cord is only for charging so it will still be relying on the wireless connection. Which is why it still crackles. If you plugged it in with a 3.5 mm cord (with the headset off) and still had crackling then it is a defect with the headset. But I think that is unlikely seeing as it works just fine at work. Making me thing this is an interference issue.
      USB 3.0 can cause interference. Making it if you have this headset connected via Bluetooth via a dongle or via the 2.4 GHz wireless dongle directly in a USB 3.0 port attached to your computer that can be spitting off a lot of interference causing the drops. This is mitigated by using the included charging cable/extender dongle to create as much distance from your PC as you can. Ideally away from anything else electronic within reason. I would also recommend using the 2.4 GHz dongle over Bluetooth. As it is going to have a better connection and should provide higher quality audio with less latency.
      If you have Bluetooth built into your PC's motherboard, depending on the quality of that motherboard, and the version of Bluetooth, it could also be putting off a lot of interference which isn't happening at work. The fix for this would be using the 2.4 GHz wireless or I guess you could technically buy a new Bluetooth Adapter (which I don't recommend).
      Last, you could always use the headset hardwired via a 3.5 mm aux cord. But if you were to do that make sure you get a 4 pole one as that will allow you to still use your microphone. But then depending on your PC you may still need a 3.5 splitter (if your PC has the microphone and normal sound port separated instead of a single port).
      If none of that works let me know.

      For some reason some interference is likely going on creating the signal from your headset to your receiver to stop talking to each other for a second. I'd recommend trying to move the extender dongle closer to your headset and away from any USB 3.0 devices (if applicable).
      As for the EQ preset I have no idea how to do that. Also, not sure where I would upload it to be downloaded. So, I'm going to respectfully decline on that. You'll have to just do it manually. I think I have it listed in my description as well.

      Tested it at home tonight. The EQ does transfer over whether on LightSpeed or Bluetooth. However, if you plug in the dongle to a new PC/Mac and download the software it will replace the custom EQ with the default one making you have to create the preset again on that computer at which point will carry over again. If you use the same computer all the time then it will still keep the EQ saved when opening Logitech G Hub. Also, G Hub works on both Mac and PC.

      If you buy it, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it and if you think it was worth that price tag or not. As in general, the feedback I'm getting back is at full price it isn't worth it. Listening to you through the video i can tell that the stock mic is dogshit, at least you have the option to switch to "blue" setting. I am a G733 user looking for a replacement, mainly because of the wireless range of the headset. I move somewhat about 7 meters away from dongle with a wall in between, and they start disconnecting right away. Does this 735 have the same issue?

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the late reply. I had to actually remember to test it.
      Hmm... hard to answer. It varies quite a bit. I notice that if I leave my room and go into the living room (which is about 7 meters away) through a single wall that I don't really haven any issues except for occasional crackling. However, if I go to the kitchenet that is in the same room and it starts to go through more than one wall I get semi-regular crackling/degradation but can still hear things. But then I can go upstairs and essentially walk around everywhere and not have really any issues either except for occasional crackling. Some drops at the outer edges (which comes back quickly) once I stop moving. So, a part of me wants to say it is good while another part of me says it isn't. Leaving me square on the fence. Internally my gut reaction is to say that it isn't one of the best performers I've had. But after the test I just did it isn't nearly as bad as I thought. Which means it probably comes down to your own setup/interference.

      I haven't tried the HyperX Cloud Mix. So, I can't tell you how that compares. However, I have tried the Hyper Cloud III (the newest one) and I absolutely love them. They are wired like the Mix but don't have the Bluetooth function. But are $100 so are cheaper. If you really want wireless than the G735 are fully wireless and have Bluetooth. I can't remember off the top of my head if you can do both of those at the same time though. I have a love/hate relationship with the G735 still. If you can find them on sale then I think they are worth it. If not then I think there are better alternatives. I tend to flop back and fourth with teh sound still. Where sometimes I think it is great and other times I don't. Which is a long way of me rambling and not giving you a ton of information. All I can say is if I had to buy a new gaming headset the HyperX Cloud III would be up there with one of my picks. The only reason why I wouldn't recommend them is if your primary use case is listening to music. But in that case none of these would be the best option for that.

    i really love how this looks!! and i’m not that heavy of a gamer and my multiplayer goes as far as apex and minecraft lol, so if you don’t think this collection is worth it what would you recommend instead?? (money isn’t an issue)

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say that our gaming interests are very similar. As my preference is plot heavy, immersive games as well but tend to play a lot of competitive games due to friends and lack of options on the former. With that said I think that with my sound preset that this headset would do a good job at what you are looking for. As I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough of Horizon Zero Dawn with them.
      However, I continue to think that this headset is overpriced for what you get and have a hard time recommending it. If you can get it on sale then it is an easier recommendation.
      As for the rest of the collection. 100% absolutely NOT worth it. The keyboard is average, and the mouse is terrible - again for the price. They are perfectly adequate. But personally, I don’t like to pay top tier pricing for adequate. But everything is going to be an upgrade over what you have already. So you’ll see an improvement. Also, aesthetic wise they are some of the most attractive peripherals I’ve ever seen. Going with what you will be happy with is the best option.
      If we are taking money out of the equation my recommendation would be:
      Mouse: Razer Viper V2 Pro or Razer Deathadder V3 Pro or Logitech G Pro X Superlight.
      Keyboard: Corsair K70 PRO (not Mk.2) w/ OPX switches. Either the full size or TKL (depending on your preference). Or if you enjoy a small keyboard and willing to wait Wooting 60HE.
      Headset: Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless.
      All of those are going to be some of the best-in-class peripherals.
      More reasonable pricing:
      Mouse: Lamzu Atlantis (or any of their mice), Logitech G Pro Wireless (over superlight as it will be on sale more often and is essentially the same but more buttons, RGB, and heavier), Razer Viper Ultimate (often on sale for $60, performs than all other mice other than other Razer mice), Razer Deathadder V2 Pro (Same as the Razer Viper Ultimate an the last generation of the Viper V2 Pro/Deathadder V3 Pro), Razer Deathadder V3 Pro WIRED (if you like palm mice and don’t mind a cord), Steel Series Aerox 3 Wireless.
      Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB Pro still.
      Headset: Corsair HS80 Pro Wired. Probably the best overall sound in a headset that I have tried. While having an unbelievably good microphone. There is a wireless variant but I haven’t tried it. Rig 800 Pro is a good option as well that is wireless. But make sure if you have a console you buy the right version.

      im sorta bummed this collection didn’t match the price if you know what i mean, especially since it was marketed towards females and wanting to be more inclusive. i feel a little left out still, the quality isn’t worth the price and they chose to focus more on looks :/ why not have both an aesthetically pleasing set WITH great quality all around that’ll match the price set

      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@goodystyle60 I completely get what you mean. It's a huge letdown and I'm definitely right there with you. As it almost comes off as, hey here is an untapped market that we can charge an arm and a leg for. But since they are women they won't care about quality and only care about aesthetics. A bit extreme of a viewpoint and I'm sure that's not their point. But as you say there are very few peripherals aimed and made for women. When one finally drops and it is disappointing it hits extra hard. I would have made sure they were bomb not only in aesthetics but performance as well to capture that market and satisfy that target demographic. But alas, maybe next time.
      I have had multiple women comment on this who have bought the headset and none of them have been upset at the quality. Especially, when they get them on sale.
      Also, a keyboard tends to be a keyboard. The keyboard itself would still be a good option. You are paying a premium for the look. But aren't really sacrificing a lot of performance. As for your use case I don't think 8,000 Hz polling is going to be significant (Corsair K70 Pro). Nor is the Analog switches on Wooting 60HE. But that comes down to your preferences. But bottom line I think the keyboard is probably the best peripheral they have in the collection and I'd definitely get it if you enjoy the TKL style. I think one of them is wireless as well which can be nice to have.
      But definitely skip the mouse. There are a lot better out there.

    6:55 what does it mean cause the noise floor to become audible ?

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question. In everything there is always a noise floor. So, in a quiet room the decibels will be like 32 dB. Silent is actually 0 dB. So, you have a noise floor of 32 dB. Often in headsets, microphones, etc. it will be picking up some sort of noise or has noise from the internal components which usually is not audible at normal operating volumes. Kind of like when you have a conversation in a quiet room you don't hear the hum of air conditioning or something. But if you crank up the volume enough in the headset when things are quiet and even when they aren't you can hear a bit of a hum or crackle or hiss that is persistent. Another way of putting it. If the volume on the headset is 50% and you don't hear anything, then you crank it up to 100% you may hear a hiss. As you are then making the noise floor audible to your ears. It is present at 50% too, but since you can't hear it, it doesn't matter. Which happens more often with wireless devices because of reasons I won't go into. Does that make sense?

      Which I think is stupid. As few peripherals are marketed and made for woman, and for Logitech to do a mediocre job and sell it at a premium to capture that demographic is a giant slap in the face. @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Depending on your PC you may be able to download Nvidia Broadcast which would cut out all the background noise if your graphics card supports it.
      As for the bass, the only thing I can think of is going into a custom profile via G Hub and reducing the bass range down into an acceptable range for your ears. And even then, it may just mess up the sound further (or just not like it). As when you start to mess with EQ settings you can get into the woods pretty quickly if you don't know what you're doing. Small changes to the bass range in Hertz (Hz) tends to be your best bet (-1 - -3). Alternatively, you could boost the mid and high-end range.

      @bjsiau ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThomasMuehler After some messing with it some more I realized that turning off the "surround sound" feature eliminated the overpowering bass sound I was getting. As for the background noise, its still not great. I changed the gate a bit and that helped a lot but I think I'm going to try using Krisp to help some more. Unfortunately I don't have an Nvidia GPU. I think it would help if the mic was able to adjust towards my mouth more, and if it had an opening on only the mouth side instead of both sides. I don't really understand that design decision lol

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bjsiau The two sided microphone is supposed to provide some "noise cancelling". As it takes what you are saying along with what is going on from the other side of the mic so it can cut down on background noise and focus more on your voice. Which sounds great in theory but doesn't always work well in reality.
      I'm almost wondering if your mic is actually slightly defective where it is boosting that sound instead of reducing it. I'm not sure if A. you could provide enough information on an RMA for that. As with it being a removable mic they may just send you a new microphone you could use.
      B. If they have it available to just buy a la cart. or
      C. if you are still in the window to exchange it at the store.
      As you're definitely doing all the right things and still having a lot of issues which shouldn't be the case.

      @@ThomasMuehler Now this is interesting. I called Logitech to see if they could send a replacement mic and they said that this model does not have the background noise canceling technology built in like their other gaming models do so there's nothing I can do to fix the background noise. It's so bad that the mic picks up the sound coming out of the headset itself, causing a ton of echo for anyone I'm in a chat with. The only fix I have found is Krisp which is $12 a month. I will probably return these and get something cheaper and better just less pretty lol. I'm disappointed to say the least, given the ridiculous price point.

      @@bjsiau 1. Interesting, I would have figured at this price point and with the microphone design that it would be a feature. How surprising! Also, what a load of BS. $230 and you don't include that?! It's robbery.
      2. They still didn't offer you a replacement? Seeing as the microphone shouldn't be picking that stuff up regardless?! They were just like "oh well, sucks to be you?" What a crap and poor response.
      3. I'm glad Krisp works, but I know I couldn't justify $12 a month for that. I'm sorry you'll have to replace them for something less pretty. That is a bummer. It leaves me at a loss at what the heck Logitech was thinking regarding this entire lineup. Especially, seeing as laissez faire their response has been to the whole thing while holding onto their premium price point.

    I think theyre a great headset asthetically and the fact that they are lightspeed, but i hate the interference with the usb bluetooth. The sound is always cracking and poppin, and for the 229 price point it is ridiculous. These headphones should easily be 130 or less. I am also disapointed that they didnt include the 3.5mm as you mentioned. I am buying one tomorrow to see if having the headset wired fixes the cracking and popping sound when gaming or watching videos on my PC. Thanks for the tips and honesty. Again great headphones in my opinion, but not for 229 when it has lots of audio problems. They shouldve jsut made them wired to begin with.

    • @ThomasMuehler
      @ThomasMuehler  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so sorry that the headset isn't working for you as intended. Especially right after your b-day. Happy late birthday. I hope outside of this it was a good one. As for your question, my only things that I can think of for how to get it to show up in G-Hub is to
      1. Make sure you are plugged in with the included USB-A to USB-C cable directly to the headset (over the wireless dongle). If that works make sure to update the headsets firmware if applicable.
      2. If that doesn't work ensure the G-Hub software is up to date.
      3. If it appears up to date Uninstall/Reinstall G-Hub.
      4. If that doesn't work makes sure the drivers of the headset itself are up to date. (windowsreport.com/logitech-g-hub-not-detecting-headset/)
      5. If that doesn't work I would reach out to Logitech Support. As I have no idea.
      As for sound. Depending on exactly what you mean by "awful" it could be;
      1. That the headset's sound profile just doesn't sound good to you. I personally was not impressed with it as. But it was more meh than awful. Others in my comment section haven't been impressed either. I do recommend trying the preset that I mention in the video as it made a huge difference for me. For that check the pinned comment and/or description of this video to see if that helps (once you get G-Hub working).
      2. Do you own EQ setting to see if that helps.
      3. It could be defective. Especially, if you never get G-Hub to work.
      Unfortunately, I found this to be a miss (like the mass majority of Logitech headsets as of late). Which is extra frustrating seeing how heavily it is marketed towards women.
      I'd love to hear if you got it working and if you changed the preset if it was helpful or not. If not you won't hurt my feelings.

      I personally am using the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless and I LOVE them. They are stellar all around and easily the best headset that I’ve ever tried even beating out the Astro A50’s. And that’s coming from someone who really doesn’t like SteelSeries or any of their products. Definitely won me over. Eventually, I’ll get to releasing my review of them. But they are S Tier.
      The SteelSeries Arctis Pro (I’m not sure if you are talking about the Wired here or the Wireless) I’ve never been a huge fan of. As I think they are B Class. (S, A, B, C, D, F highest to lowest ranking). Definitely think they are better than these. I’ve tried them twice now and wasn’t blown away by them and found them to be pretty average in general which is why I never released a review as I just didn’t think they were worth the time and effort. But people tend to also love them so maybe I’m missing something.
      You’ve got my thoughts on these from the review.
      I’d be curious on which ones you decide to go with and your thoughts on them once you’ve tried them out if you remember and care to get back to me.

      So, for some reason Logitech limits the volume of their headsets for PS5 unless if they are "officially supported', which these are not. Therefore, you get sound that is extremely low despite everything being read correctly.
      If I had to guess, Logitech/Astro didn't want to pay PS5 a fee to allow their headsets to work on PS5. And since PlayStation is kind of snobby they don't let headsets that don't pay that fee work. So we the consumer lose.

      Advertised that they worked where? As I haven't seen that they are officially supported. Also, if I mentioned that they were in my review that was a mistake and I apologize. Technically, the PS5 will read that they are correctly connected. However, whether it be licensing issues with Sony or Logitech they make the volume too low to be viable. I am unaware of anything that makes them work correctly. Other than you could technically get an Aux cord and then plug that into the controller. I suppose you could also try bluetooth? Does the PS5 even have bluetooth?
