Lyrics:
Johnny, take a walk with your sister the moon
Let her pale light in, to fill up your room.
You've been living underground, eating from a can
You've been running away from what you don't understand.
She's slippy, you're sliding down.
She'll be there when you hit the ground.
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright.
She moves in mysterious ways.
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright.
She moves in mysterious ways, oh.
Johnny, take a dive with your sister in the rain
Let her talk about the things you can't explain.
To touch is to heal, to hurt is to steal.
If you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel
On your knees, boy!
She's the wave, she turns the tide
She sees the man inside the child.
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright.
She moves in mysterious ways.
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright.
She moves in mysterious ways, yeah, oh, ah.
Lift my days, light up my nights, oh.
One day you'll look back, and you'll see
Where you were held now by this love.
While you could stand there,
You could move on this moment
Follow this feeling.
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright.
She moves in mysterious ways.
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright.
She moves in mysterious ways.
Move you, spirits move you
Move, spirits 'its move you, oh yeah.
Does it move you?
She moves with it.
Lift my days, and light up my nights, oh. - เพลง
Can you believe this is 33 years old!!! A fantastic, utterly captivating song, U2 at their peak in my opinion, from a great album but Zooropa the year after was also a gem!!!
Can you believe Wuthering Heights is nearly 46 years old? That is as pointless as your statement. What you consider great music is ageless. 93 and infact the 90s in general weren't great for everyone.
Can u believe it?!!
We saw them at the Sphere last weekend. This song is probably my favorite U-2 song. And almost all my kids were born in the 90s, so the 90s were pretty damn special to me.
Yes I can I am with it,can't stop listen to since about 1991......
I was on a plane back then in 1992 this time of year towards a Spring Break trip to Hawaii! 🏝️✈️ Our high school marching band did a 2 week tour 🎺🎷🥁🎶 this song played in the headphones 🎧 playlist 🎶🔀
I like the humble lesson on being humble:
*_"If you want to kiss the sky, you'd better learn how to kneel, on your knees boy!"_*
Shame Bono didn't listen to his own advice lol
Bono says his prayers regularly that’s why he has Diane as his wife because she protects him from evil she loves him more than life itself
@Iamdust78 Not interested in a battle of wits with an unarmed man.
That's who I am.
Well no, not really but I am sure 👍 you will explain what exactly is the difference 😊
That bass line is the stuff dreams are made of. Groovy as hell and wildly addictive.
I agree with you 💯%.
Even Bono has said that the band was built around Adam Clayton's bass line. An underrated musician.
underrated... indeed!
True
That was the 90s man... bass bass and more bass.
This song NEVER EVER gets old! Bono still has his moves too
He's got the moves like Jagger... 🧐🙄😒🤔
One of the greatest opening guitar riffs!
Agreed!!!!
***** dude tell me why apple earphones are better than skullcandy
ikeknights, yep. And from one of the greatest guitarists ever. I’ve always loved The Edge.
hell yes it is
kroakie4 agreed! He's A Legend
Why is nobody talking about the line "on your knees boy!" call me crazy but thats the line that stuck with me from this song lmao, i love how one can either interpret it as something sexual or just religious
Yup!
U2 was the most versatile bands in HISTORY: Rock, Pop, Rhythm, Indie. They could do it all with the same line up. Perfection!
Same Line Up Yea!!!!
not rap
Is, not was
@@fromthehaven94 Yes, Perfect correction!
☄️🔥🤩🔥☄️
I'm a Hispanic Colombian woman, with an Irish heart,I love U2,the best Irish band of all time.🤍
I'm an American of Irish heritage who absolutely loves Latina women
Peruvian New Yorker living in New England now never stop loving U2 no matter where I go!
One of their very best, still holds up as good as ever after all these years. That chorus.
kkkkkk
How old are you?
To go from Joshua Tree/Rattle & Hum to Achtung Baby was such a bold move. Almost sounds like a completely different band AND they pulled it off! Not many groups or artists can claim to accomplish such a feat.
Daniel Lanois likely had a lot to do with it. Great record.
Yeah. I mean I'm biased since AB is my favorite U2 album, but I actually think this is what kept them so successful for years, they really adopted the 90s alternative sound pretty hardcore (esp. since it was only 1991, probably recorded in '90) and it was heavier than the more mellow Joshua Tree.
Joshua Tree def had it's mellow moments, but don't forget Bullet the blue sky.
I agree. In fact I'd say "bullet" and "where the streets have no name" (the two most rocking songs) paved the way a bit for Achtung's sound. Even the two major hits are very ahead of their time and sound more 90s to me.
JPMcFly1985Two #FeelTheBern probebly all true, but i hear the closest semblance in 'in Gods country' i cant hear it in the others.
for me its the adoption of this sound that made U2 appealing for me. hard or not hard, not as much but maybe more grounded and less purely plaintif sounding. maybe approach is a better word than sound.
The 1990s belonged to U2 - this album and the subsequent tour took music into a new post-80s era. It's hard to describe how fresh and new this "sound" was at the time.
They still sound fresh though I've listened to them many times
I'm pretty new to their music and I totally understand where you are coming from
The 1990s are when U2 sold out. This album pretty much turned me off to them. Their 80s albums were epic.
@@Kazilikaya come now, the first three songs of Joshua Tree are once in a life time stuff. They had to move in to a new direction.🤣
The 90s belonged to Oasis. Anyone who disputes that knows fuck all.
U2's best songs. New Years Day, I will follow, Mysterious Ways, Batman theme, Sunday bloody Sunday.. You can keep with or without you and I haven't found what I'm looking for. Give me U2 playing rock.
favorite U2 song. Every member of the band kills it on this track
I must agree…wholeheartedly
@@dankydiecast5686 Right, I point to this song where the 1990s truly began.
How old are you?
Great choice of a song indeed.
@@kos500 What about the 1980s, when the group U2 really began?
The 90's. What a decade. Love U2's old stuff. Goodnight lovers out there
+Henry Schröder Some would say the 80s is their "old stuff."
+frere jacques Obviously this guy doesn't know their classic stuff. Rattle and Hum was their LAST decent album.
A great one. Achtung Baby was my last favorite.
+dennis neo Rattle and Hum was kinda meh. The Joshua Tree was the best album they'd ever made in that decade. It put U2 on the map as a serious rock band. Rattle and Hum just made them seem self righteous and earnest. They HAD to "Dream it up all again". Achtung Baby DEFINED U2 in the 90's. Pop was great too in my opinion. However, every thing started going down hill since ATYCLB.
TJT was their best of the 1980s, but most everything else they did from that decade was pretty good, too. I didn't like AB at first, but it very quickly grew on me and I've long considered it their #1 masterpiece album. ATYCLB marked a return to pretty good music, and HTDAAB was even better, perhaps their third-best album ever.
Aside from a song or two, POP never did anything for me.
How great U2 was in the early nineties!! For a teenager like me at that time, Achtung Baby was a eye opener to the vast possibilities of music, and a reminder about what boldness can do.
I grew up as a metal kid in the 90s but that album(Achtung baby) and this song in particular was played in my house all the time by the BF of my mom, he was a great guy with great tastes in music.
Its only today at 42 that i understand how freaking great U2 is.
Gotta say that 'War' is still my favorite but this one has so many great songs also.
Whoooooo Yea!!!! 🤗
Edge is one of the few who could take such a simple series of notes/chords and create such a iconic riff out of them.
Malcolm Young is another one. And George Young...
He’s one of my very favorite guitarists
It ain't called the "U2 sound" for nothin'! :)
Honestly, I will forever live the Joshua tree sound, but the way he made this guitar sound in here: I would have LOVE to hear him continue in this! This is from another realm.

Till this day, this remains as one of the visual jewels created by Stephane Sednaoui. Great video, timeless.
Timeless and with our Time at the Same time!
This song isn’t all right it’s brilliant a masterpiece
I was born in 1988,
U2 has been with me all my life.
My mother seen them in concert 43 times!!!!
I've seen them 7 times
So
You've been brainwashed!!!
43 times?!
Let me guess, Bono might be your father.
Man... that opening Riff goes right through me.... EVERY Time !!
kirbycol4 I gotta give it to the Edge for that riff ..bada$$
I'm pretty sure falling down by chapterhouse inspired this song
@@letdown9197 Thank you
They have like 10 signature songs that are equal masterpieces.
U2 is my oldest love in music. Bono's voice, Edge's great sound and guitar playing and the solid and original spine of the band with Larry and Adam who are always forgotten... Just one of the best bands still active that never changed a band member and that was never afraid to take chances.
I would love your input on our cover of U2's Ordinary Love. Maybe we succeeded, maybe not, we let you be the judge if you have two or three minutes to spare and a thumb up or down to add, come listen and judge us here :-) : th-cam.com/video/yiUkR6YUNgU/w-d-xo.html
This Mysterious Ways song by U2 is both unforgettable and exquisite.
U2 at this time was untouchable.
!!💓Edge!!
Joshua Tree is their masterpiece
Unstoppable.
Acthtung baby was their masterpiece
@@georgiasmith64 yes! That riff is the whole reason I came looking for this song! And now I want to go watch it's going to get loud.
My Mom passed away this morning- this is the song that was playing when I pulled up to her care home to sit with her, and say my goodbyes.

Clayton rips it on this gem. U2 can't be touched, epic from the start to eternity.
U2 DOMINATED the early 90's, and i remember when this song came out and loved it instantly!, and this is from a non fan!😊
The instrumentation on this album is outstanding. Edge is terrific on the guitar. Bass and drums top notch.
Agreed, musicians are good, too bad Bono isn’t a good singer eh?
@@samk6880 his vocals suit their sound and musical arrangements.
@@samk6880 that's some excellent bait
Ten (Pearl Jam), Smells Like Teen Spirit (Nirvana) and Achtung Baby (U2) signaled what was to come in 1992 and pretty much the rest of the 1990's. Man, I miss those days...
We were very lucky 🤟
Me too
The guitar sounds are so amazing on this
My favorite line is,
"If you want to kiss the sky, better learn how to kneel",
but I interpreted it differently. I always thought it meant,
"If you want to be great, you better learn to be humble first".
That's probably just my secular mindset.
“On your knees boy!” My favorite line too!! Love that guitar!! Was that line a shout out to Jimi? “Excuse me while I kiss the sky” 🤷♂️
❤
One of my favorite riffs of all time. They were knocking it out of the park with each release back in the day. Never gets old. Nothing else sounds like this
this song is 25 years old? Holy crap. Still an awesome song though
+Jimmy Hendrix Duuude, awesome songs never get old or go out of style or become meaningless/irrelevant/un-relatable. The same musical genius and/or wise lyrics speak to generation after generation without skipping a beat! :)
+Ani C True and this is why most of the shit bring produced these days is forgotten in a few months while amazing songs like this are still played.
What? That means I'm 106.
no
Whaaaa!!! 52!!!
Every song U2 makes is gold. Change my mind!
Nobody can!!!
I enjoy so few U2 songs. This is a brilliant exception. All their music is very rudimentary, even the Edge's playing on this song. They never developed as musicians, just changed producers, and rode Bono's abundant charisma. Whatever works, right? But not for me.
I can’t !!
As if I'd change anyone's mind about "Mysterious Ways"! I've been reading Bono's memoir and he talks about this song. I'm enjoying the book so far and recommend it to anyone who is a U2 fan.
U2 was such a powerhouse in the 80’s and 90’s. I love listening to their sound.
It’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright….
I move in mysterious ways.
To touch is to heal
To hurt is to steal
If you want to kiss the sky better learn how to kneel, on your knees boy!
This is one of the rare times you can say a great song was married to a great video.
This song is still damn sexy, 24 years later.
Absolutely!
24 years that’s scary
30 years now!
How is it sexy exactly? I don’t get it.
If the bass line don't move ya you're dead
👍👍👍
truer words haven't ever been spoken
Im a bassist, but I have to say, the hero of this one is not the bass...is the obvious edge guitar...
Amen to that one.
I'm a bass player and know that a subtle left wrist move makes all the swing that this track needs. The bass line is like a belly dance...
I can't believe this song only has 21mil views!! It's my favorite U2 song!! On your knees boy!😘🤩💞
M A S T E R P I E C E ❤
This song never gets old and gets stuck in my head for days
Got stuck in my head for years…
It's designed to. These men worship lucifer. They are helping lucifer to try to claim your soul. If you want to know if it's working, ask yourself how well do you know Jesus in person because you are able to meet Him in Spirit at the Mercy Seat. I'm not trying to sound like an arrogant person; I just want to encourage you to know Jesus died so that you could have His eternal life, yet the enemy blinds us to this. We all must seperate ourselves feom worldly things to see better. It's most definitely worth it.
Never gets old
❤❤❤❤❤❤ THIS from the 1st 3 SECONDS, GREAT AND UNIQUE SONG😅😅😅
Heard it on T.V over night git stuck now cnt get uf out of my head so down loaded it now
In my opinion, the BEST song that U2 ever did!!
Amazing tune Amazing band Amazing album.
Achtung Baby is the best rock album dedicated to all aspects of love in the history of music
The Joshua Tree though
I agree

Brian Eno’s influence in production, that background dissonance.. it changed the trajectory of U2 The Achtung

Love this song one of the best
I remember when I was three or four I was swinging on my swing set singing this song. It's funny how so much can change in your life, including your personality, but music never changes, only its interpretation changes.
Great Lyric--"If you want to kiss the sky--better learn how to kneel"
It is no mystery that, 30 years later, this song still rocks!
The greatest use of guitar pedals ever. The Edge clearly used them to the best effect. A classic in every sense!
Clearly you've never heard of Tom Morello...
@@mantism.d.8363 He's awesome but I still prefer this over "Killing in the Name" or "Guerilla Radio". Everyone has their preferences and tastes. 😉

I didn't like it back then. MTV played the shit out it. so did the radio. I just couldn't get away from it. years later I find myself crawling back to it.
This was very overplayed when it was released. Only 'Pride in the Name of Love' probably gets played more
It's alright. moves in mysterous ways.
Same thing happened to me with Tom Petty Free Falling. Love it now. Then I would scream when I heard it. And not in a good way😁

Jack Daw Good point. At first glance it would seem he is trying to be condescending, but perhaps he is just confused that an adult would be referencing a cartoon. A simple question mark might be all that is missing.
***** I cant remember exactly, but I think it one where they go to ireland.
I have heard this hundreds and hundreds of times, but i don't think i had ever really listened to it until reading the lyrics along with it. I had always liked the song, but I think that having now really listened to it, lying in bed, in the dark, i am in awe. Lots of layers to this, and every component combines to make a perfect song.

This song is a masterpiece
Amazing what Sednaoui pulled off with some mylar sheets, a film camera, and a great editor. I remember back when pure talent was all that mattered. Just love how the last shot holds on Bono singing as the distortion gets more chaotic with the bongos.

They made really good songs in the 2000's as well. Starting with Vertigo though the quality of their songs dropped in my opinion. Back then, the entire music industry produced different songs.
Still consider myself a U2 fan, but yeah, I am not so crazy about their latest releases.
WhiteCloud I just didn't get U2 in the 2000's although Vertigo is a very cool song👍🎸🎶😎
Me either. Old stuff million times better
I remember how much of a hit this song was back in the early 1990s - its what made U2 so great. They were able to adapt themselves to the 1990s without compromising their unique character and sound. Didn't get swept away by all the wind stirred up by grunge, etc. Unfortunately, that was not the case with another great band - INXS.
That bass line is fire.🔥🔥🔥
