  • In this video, I will tell you what the best hunting pack to buy in 2023 is. I will be releasing a long form version of this video which will cover in depth all four packs mentioned. But if you want the condensed version you’ve got it right here!

Very good, concise overview! I’m stuck between the SG Sky 5900 and the Exo 5000 - both look great, but I love the added value of an included load shelf on the SG. Exo seems like a more comfortable option, specifically the waist belt. Some people seem to have issues with Stone Glaciers lumbar pad and I’ve heard some good things about the updated lumbar pad on the K4. Anything really jump out to you between the two?

The lumbar on each is good to me. The belt on the Exo was definitely more comfortable. I would decide off of what bag style you want more. The Exo has more pockets and is a heavier setup. Not that the weight of the bag it’s self is a ton more, but I find with more pockets comes more gear… if you want a streamline bag the stone would be my pick. The only caveat to that would be if I was getting the EXO make sure to buy the load shelf accessory.

Nice review! I have the Exo K3 4800 and I use the Slik Sling rifle carrying system and it works great. The Slik Sling allows for super fast access to the rifle and it’s also quick and easy to put the gun back without having to take the pack off. Something to think about for those Exo owners out there!

@@rogueoutdoorshtkstw One quick question, how "tacky" does the lumbar pad feel on the K4? The lumbar pad on my K3 does not really have any "stick" to it, and I'm wanting to see if I can somehow make a change there.

I would not call the new dimpling they have on the K4 lumbar tacky. They are a pretty hard density compared to the gel the KUIU packs have. However I think what they are using on the K4 is much better. It holds on really well, but does not irritate the skin. I will be releasing a K4 specific video this week or Saturday.

Have you not used the Kifaru gun bearer ?

I have not. Would like to try it out, but only have so much money to test gear. Haha

If you had to choose one bag for both rifle and archery what would you choose?

I would base it on two things. If I primarily rifle hunted I would do the stone. But if I was hunting both seasons evenly and hunting animals like moose and elk I would probably run the EXO since it does better under extreme weight. If your mostly hunting deer the packs both carry that weight about the same. You also have to decide if you like more or less pockets. The EXO has moor pockets the separate your gear, as where the Stone with the col 4800 bag on it is really streamlined.
      I hope that helps!
