Inside is a tube which I think it uses to measure the suction - this may have come off. It is a little tricky to get back on but could be worth checking.
I had the same problem. I've fixed it by cleaning the suction tube inside the base. It had a lot of garbage stuck in there. This is because the vacuum sucks a lot of wet dust on vacuum + mop mode
