    I'm not a big fan of primers, but I feel like trying some again. knowing me, I would prefer the "glowy" ones!

    Dry skin as well. I love the sheen suggestions! ELF has a radiant primer as well that I'm trying. Not as sheen-ful as the one's you've shown though.

    I like the covergirl line of primers, especially the pore minimizer. Also, I don't look for spf in a primer as I don't use enough of the primer to get the protection of an spf. Usually I just apply it where I need it. I am going to try the e.l.f. putty primer it looks like it might work on my mature skin. Great Review

    I use tinted mineral-only sunBLOCKs for primer. Because they're tinted, I can see how evenly I've applied. Or not. Most of the time, I don't need extra moisture with the sunblock, but during windy, dry weather, I use a light moisturizer under the sunblock, with a heavier cream at night. The sunBLOCKs I use both leave a nice semi-velvety finish, which lets my foundation/color base products go on so easily. Bliss brand Block Star SPF 30 or Australian Gold SPF 50 (this one has a couple of tones, I use the fair to light one). Love your presentations, thanks for your energy!

    Thank you for the smoothing primer I'm going to try it ..also for the Sephora one but I love dewy look. I used to use Charlotte Tilbury magic cream but it has gone thick and gloopy twice and for the money I get upset.

    I agree that most hydrating primers don’t do that much for really dry skin. My skin is always dry, and it just sucks up any kind of moisture I put on it within a couple of hours. The whole primer dilemma is a big one though. Skin always seems to need different things to stay happy.

    Such great information! Due to being totally allergic, break out in hives, to chemical SPF and hot flashes my water resistant mineral SPF works as my primer. I also find I need less foundation. I’m totally going to try using a smoothing primer on my pores. I have a small sample size of the elf putty primer that I use as eye shadow primer because I didn’t want to waste it, lol.

    I have to have a grip, lol. Though it does depend on the foundation, some keep my skin too tacky and they never dry down. Charlotte Tilbury and Embriolysse are my ride or die primers...but its for the plumping and makes my foundation go on better, not necessarily helping with the longevity

Used the elf one and couldn't believe it! With the elf gripping and Benefit Porefessional setting spray, most of my foundation actually stays on my face! Very happy!

    Bobbi, thank you so much for all the testing you do and recommendations. I'm new to skincare and makeup, and at 75 it's a whole new world! I've been having a great time amassing a small collection of products but now I'm wondering about expirations. Could you address this in a future video? Should one keep a spreadsheet, or are there general guidelines for certain categories?

    Hi Bobbi! I also have larger pores just above my brows (which seems like such an odd spot to me as well). I've tried the elf putty primers in the past, but found it made them stand out more. It did fill them, but the color made me look like I had light "reverse" freckles. I've never worn foundation much, and although I'm 63, my skincare routine has really improved the overall tone and texture (one of the good things to come out of COVID). I typically just wear a tinted sunscreen. Any thoughts on what ai'm doing wrong? I'd worn the Laura Geller spackles for years and not had this happen. Thanks, and I love your channel!!

    • @MyCleverHandle
      @MyCleverHandle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use tinted sunblocks, too. As a single layer primer - moisturizer - sunblock under my foundation/color base product. Then I use a silky, light finishing powder to help hide the polka dot pores (I think you call them reverse freckles.) Current favorite is e.l.f. HD (loose) powder in Soft Luminance (lightest pink). So silky, it's impossible to overdo it if you use a large powder brush. I work outdoors and sweat a bit, but I don't use a setting spray and my face still looks pretty good at the end of the day.

    • @MyCleverHandle

      I use eyelid primer, then dab on a little loose setting powder before I put on my "foundation" product.
