For those who don't know or remember anymore , Android One was a project started by Google to partner with other OEMs and release cheaper yet high to mid performing mobile phone with almost stock Android. It was discontinued a few years ago. Glad to see it being and making its way to India.
Though overall phone is good..3 things disappoints: 1. Camera aperture is f2.2 and f2.6 thus low-light will be pathetic with portrait mode 2. Front camera is mediocre 5 megapixel for price of 15k.. Bad.. 3. NFC would be better than IR blaster for using Android pay in future. What do you think..?
I'm not a selfie freak but 5MP is less in comparison with other phones available in the market. 8MP would've been great in this budget. Also the hybrid SIM slot is not a good option.
Surely NFC would have been great instead of IR Blaster or even Compass like the moto G5 or G5S+ doesn't have a compass sensor but has NFC connectivity as thats very useful to connect with Wireless Earphones and Compact or even DSLR Cameras. Typically the front camera sensor sizes are often very small so, few extra Megapixel doesn't really matter much but a Front Flash would have been Great for taking Selfies at night. The MI 5's 4MP Front camera takes considerably better images than any 8 MP front camera in the market owing to its Large pixel size and slightly bigger sensor size. But Mid-range phones don't give such specs so they can atleast give front flash be it 5 or 8 MP front camera.

Depends on the user requirement really. I use front camera a lot so, I am inclining for Moto (already a moto user) and waiting for full reviews of both the devices. Anyway, Moto has a better display and Moto functions but lacks when it comes to speaker, headphone jack, usb type-c charging. Pretty close competition regarding specs. But, the Indian public will surely go for Xiaomi, I am sure.
I believe it is a great device for the price. And now that Xiaomi has partnered with Google and brought stock android, things are getting even better. Very excited for this device. Thanks for the quick unboxing Ranjit.
Pratyush Raj Moto g5S plus's dual camera is just a gimmick. In the Mi A1 the colours and saturation are on point. And when you compare the depth effect (portrait mode) on both, clearly the Mi A1 is better.

I am looking at buying a phone for my brother and had finalized on the G5S Plus, but with this launch, the Mi A1 just made it's way to the top of my list - mainly because of direct updates from Google and USB-C port. My bro has the Moto G4 plus (replacing due to battery not holding charge) and it has not received an update past 7.0 - but I think it receives security patches. I am doubtful that it'll get Oreo - so my faith in regular updates for the G5S plus has been shaken a bit because of how Moto updates the G4 line. In the launch event, it was mentioned that Mi A1 will get the Android P update, so that is something to consider.

The real advantage of Xiaomi over Moto was the price difference (only 1k in this case) and bigger battery(this has only 3100 mah, without turbocharger). Unless a newer iteration of redmi note is launched,Moto g5s plus is the sensible choice.

Pentbenis, people buy moto phones for stock android, and the best and fastest stock android experience is delivered by google itself so it makes no sense to go for moto g5s in terms of software experience, coming to build quality this device is awesome, so is moto g5s, its a tie here. Now coming to price, this is cheaper than moto g5s which gives it another plus point. Lastly, the camera, this will be interesting to see who wins here, when comparison videos comes out and if this camera is as good as moto g5s, then there will be no reason to go for moto g5s except the stock availability of course.

Front camera in this price segment is a disappointment . Lenovo is launching K8 plus tomorrow . HOPE SO lenovo has something better to offer.
