Would an instrument like this require a much closer attention to the action based on the metal strings? I’m not sure what SUS “aims for” in regard to action normally (probably around 2.65mm at the 12th and 0.5mm at the 1st fret) but would lower action be ideal or required for metal strings?
I don't know if we can call it a proper ukulele with those steel strings, low G, baritone... But it definitely seems to be a good instrument, and that's the most important thing ! Really appreciate what Flight are doing (and still love my Victoria tenor). Thx for the preview !
That looks and sounds amazing. I see that Flight is back to using the red bridge pins. I say that because I had a defective Flight Nighthawk Tenor that arrived without any plastic gems on the bridge pins. Both the music store I purchased it from and their Flight rep claimed that they stopped using red bridge pins. How convenient that the only uke they sold without the red ones was my Nighthawk. My Nighthawk was defective also because the cheap tuners they use came loose. The tuner for the G string separated from the headstock by 4mm and the screws were half in and half out. I only had the Uke for a few weeks when that happened. So now I own an unstrung, unusable Tenor Uke that needs a luthier to fix or better yet replace the tuners at my expense. That was the last Flight I will ever buy. I now own and play only a Klos Tenor and Baritone all carbon fiber Ukuleles and I love them.
That's crazy. I love those prowell tuners and I've never had a customer return an instrument under warranty with that issue. Whilst I respect your decision to avoid Flight after being burnt please can you just confirm for those reading your comment which dealer it came from or at least that it wasn't us. The red bridge pins were changed on the nighthawks, you must have had one from the first couple of batches. I don't like them either personally on uke strings. Only time will tell how they work on the steel string model in the video.
Got a Carabao baritone otherwise I would have bought one of these. I have a Flight Phantom and really like this brand. The mango top looks lovely as well as it sounding good.
I have owned a couple of tenor guitars in the past but struggled with the narrow necks---about 32mm from memory---so for this to have a 38mm is a big tick in the box from me.
Launching at £339. Its DGBE. All the details are in the link in the description. If they are not coming up, we've sold the first 4. We will list 4 more every day until they go.
Is a steel string baritone not classed as a tenor guitar? What would the difference between the 2 be. I have the pono full mango baritone, bought from yourselves. Love it but I fancy a slightly brighter tone. What tone wood would you suggest?
Tenors guitars usually have banjo style necks with a very narrow nut and string spacing and the scale length is 2 Inches longer. Tenor guitar bodies are traditionally a longer length and slimmer width
I mean... the tuning is the same as a Tenor guitar in Chicago tuning. You could certainly use it like a Tenor guitar but the design is much more geared towards uke players.
I Will list more tomorrow and the day after until they are all gone. The problem is they all look different so it's time consuming doing individual listings.
Beautiful instrument. The mango table is gorgeous, and the wood of the fingerboard (rosewood ? walnut ?) soooo sensual !!! 😍😍 I'm a bit disappointed by the sound though : from such an ample body, I'd have expected a deeper, darker, richer sound. Something more ... virile ? It definitely lacks complexity too. To sum it up, I'd say it sounds immature, lol.
@@SouthernUkuleleStore Portugal. The customs duty itself is negligible, but there's the 23% VAT over (price + shipping costs). I'd say around 100 additional euros in total. Things were so much better before Brexit...
You pay the ex vat price from us though and then pay your countries VAT instead. The shipping is literally the only bit that is unattractive and that's about £30 to Portugal. I didn't want brexit for the record and it's set things back but thankfully now we can ship in a way where we just take the VAT and pay it on your behalf.
@@SouthernUkuleleStore That's great to know! It brings it a lot closer to the original price. Though right now I am also considering the Pathfinder baritone as an option.
Game changer! I love the steel string sound. And making it more affordable than the Pono is much appreciated.
Thank you Flight, SUS and Alex. I have been hunting and scouring. I am overjoyed.
I’ve been waiting for something like this! I love these!
Very interesting! The sound is so different. May have to put this on my wish list. ❤️
That is going to be a must have for me.
Absolutely love steel string Ukes, plus plug-in, plus cool woods = winner!
Well, I'm not sure about everyone else, but my mind is filled with one thought... perhaps I NEED a Baritone.
I play my Fanner Pixelator with no amp, just fantastic

It's easier to set up a metal string instrument with a lower action.
That's a beaut Alex. Sounds sweet. If I didn't have the Pono version I wouldn't hesitate.

I am exactly the same. Tenor guitars have banjo necks and they are just not what a lot of people want in 2024.
sweet sound 💫❤
Please Mr when this back in stock ?
No idea sadly. I also have nearly 100 people on the waiting list so getting one for the next 6 months will he difficult. Apologies
I like it, how much is it and is it DGBE tuned?

Wow! Beautiful sound! Are those specialty uke strings, or guitar strings?
Guitar strings
Guitar strings. Feel like 11s

@@SouthernUkuleleStore thank you for that. To many channels giving false info

I am wondering, what strings should I get when I want to change them? I recently got a Maia
I recommend guitar 11's or 12's
Beautiful sound. I prefer flourocarbon strings as I hate the scraping noise from wound strings.
Lovely
Nice! What strings are on there Alex? Brand, gauges? Thanks!
The strings are 11, 15, 20w and 30w custom light gauge acoustic guitar strings.

All I can say is….unique. Flight do it again, they love pushing the envelope. Think they will literally fly out. Thanks for the update.
Could it still be strung with traditional worth browns or the nylon rather than the steel strings.?
No idea. Probably but it Will lack a bit of oomph
i want one tuned to gdae so bad
I see 3 out of the 4 are sold already!

Are you playing it upside down?
Yes
Looks great...sounds not so much...

Steel string 😮
If it weren't for the prohibitive customs fees I'd be impulse buying one right now.
Where are you based? Customs duty is like 3%

Is this a Tenor Guitar in disguise?
I thought I said in the video it's shorter than a Tenor guitar but I may have cut around it
what gauge strings does it have ? 0,11 0,12 '? thank you for the video
11s
@@SouthernUkuleleStore thank you very much for the prompt answer
No worries 👍 ☺️
