This is the performance you need to see to really experience Freddy Mercury. Brian May later said that Freddy carried them in this show. The rest felt it wasn't their best performance but he just went to another level. It's been said that this is the performance that turned Live Aid into a success.

Queen at Live Aid which was broadcasted live on TV to millions of people around the world was one of the best concerts ever performed in history. Freddy had the audience wrapped around his finger, talk about crowd control. Others famous singers who sang at Live Aid said there is no way we can top this performance by Queen. First music I ever bought was Queen - We are the champions/We will rock you, the single, I was 8 years old, 1978. Later I bought 'Bicycle/Fat bottomed girls'. They did the Flash Gordon soundtrack....love that song and movie! They did the soundtrack for Highlander, another GREAT movie and 'Who wants to live forever' is breathtaking.
Last year I finally bought all 3 boxes with all the remastered albums on cd.
I grew up with this band. My dad coming into my bedroom and then we played 'We will rock you' really loud and with the solo the sound went even further up.
    What a band!

Did you know that lead singer Freddie Mercury also sang/recorded an album of OPERA?!?
The album and title track are titled:
    Barcelona.
(There are live performances of 3 songs from the album, all live at La Nit)
Freddie collaborated with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé (nickname Montsey).

As your mum will tell you and please ask her i know it will make her smile
The 80's best era, big hair for the ladies, pastel colours, shoulder pads, just coming to the end of the disco era, bright make up, the new wave
for the boys, lots of hair, box jackets, flight jackets from the first top gun, flight sun glasses, the mirrors one, yeah she knows lol
Lee and wrangler jeans levi if you could afford them , leg warmers for the girls, what a great time to be alive.
we dont have the music or the videos of that era, proper dating, no mobile phones in those days, or internet, had to wait a week to see the girl you liked, or make the most of the weekend, back to work see her friday,

Anytime ya react to Queen...watch your numbers go up!!!! The beginning of this has some similar harmonies to an Eagles song called 7 Bridges Road. Maybe that was what was familiar to Kathy. Great job ladies. 🍻👏🤟

To see how Freddy could play the crowd watch the concert Live at the Montreal Forum (1981). Freddy starts out dressed normal then he takes off his jacket. The songs keep coming and by the time they do Jailhouse Rock he’s in just his long pants and shoes and the crowd is going wild. Then they do Another One Bites The Dust and Freddy comes out from off stage in nothing but some short shorts and the whole place goes crazy. The songs were pretty good too.

Loved the reaction. If you like Freddie being outrageous any live version of Sheer Heart Attack. According to Brian, he once tried unplugging Brian’s guitar with his teeth during this song. Freddie being a punk rocker.

About the hair: Queen started out as a certified, albeit progressive hard rock band, so throughout the 70s, they all had the long. luscious hair that went along with it. At the dawn of the 80s, they adopted more of a pop look (and sound, although the hard rock songs thankfully never went away entirely and they re-adopted that heavy style all the way just prior to Freddie's death in 1991). It was also then that Freddie, apart from cutting his locks, grew his signature mustache. This was not just a fashion statement: he had always been very sensitive about his protruding front teeth, but never dared having them adjusted for fear of this affecting his voice. Covering his upper lip with a mustache was his plan B, which also went pretty well with his new short-hair look. Only guitarist Brian May, the most hardcore heavy metal guy of the bunch, kept his old look more or less intact.
"Fat bottomed girls" was written in 1978 by Brian, who initially had some worries that Freddie might not like the lyrics, knowing that Freddie played for the other team. As it happened, Freddie absolutely loved those lyrics and had a blast performing the songs. Coincidentally, Brian, who is insanely intelligent, only a few years back finally finished his master's degree in astrophysics, after having dropped out of the university when Queen first became successful. Him finally getting that degree resulted in a barrage of memes along the lines of "in 1978, astrophysicist Dr. May made an amazing discovery about the effect of robust female posteriors on the Earth's rotation" 🙂
Fun fact: Queen is arguably the only band where every member has written at least one #1 hit. Freddie wrote "Bohemian rhapsody" and "We are the champions", Brian wrote "We will rock you", bassist John Deacon wrote "Another one bites the dust" and drummer Roger Taylor wrote "Radio ga-ga".
Not so fun fact: Queen lost most of their previously so massive US fanbase after 1984, because of the promo video for "I want to break free" where the members dressed up as females. The idea was simply spoofing characters from the British soap-opera "East Enders", but conservative forces in the US mistook it for some sort of "woke" statement and reacted with the same tolerance and likeability as they still do to such things 40 years later.
Even less fun fact: November 24th, 1991, saw the passing of not only Freddie but also of Kiss drummer Eric Carr, making it one of the inarguably blackest dates in all of (hard) rock history.
