A look and talk on a few Smith and Wesson revolvers. Mostly talking about the double action 38 special to the 357 magnum model 19 and last the Dirty Harry model 29.
It’s awesome to see a younger guy like you getting so fired up over S&W wheel guns! The very first centerfire handgun I ever fired was my Dad’s new (at the time, back in the early 1970’s) 4” barrel Model 10.
I know this is an older video, but I had to watch it. I collect Smith & Wesson revolvers also. I have a Pre-Model 10, Model 10, Model 13, Model 15, Model 19 all with 4 inch barrels. I have a Model 15 with a 2 inch barrel. I also have Model 64, Model 65, Model 66, and Model 67 with 4 inch barrels. I also have a Model 29 (nickel finish) in 8-3/8 inch barrel. I know what that Smith & Wesson "magic" is, my friend! You have a very nice assortment there. I love it!
o yea about to get some popcorn and watch all 20 min I love those revolvers. so classy looking. I'm a ruger revolver fan but I do appreciate the smith's and there beauty and I always enjoy when u share ur collection and ur passion for them. God bless
👍 Awesome collection of S&W revolvers! S&W are my favorite revolvers too and Roy Scheider is one of my favorite actors as well. You didn’t mention the French Connection, Marathon Man and All That Jazz.
June of 1970 I had my 22nd birthday. I was a Maryland State Trooper at the time and my mother asked what I’d like for my birthday. I was carrying a S&W Model 36 square butt as an off duty weapon so I half heartedly asked my mother for a bigger gun because the model 36 was too small for my hand. I’m 6’5 and weigh 245 lbs and have large hands. My mother went to a gun shop in Baltimore city and bought me a new off duty weapon for my birthday. She paid $189.00 and change for a brand new Smith & Wesson Model 29 in the mahogany presentation case. She had no idea what she bought, she just told the man that I was a State Trooper and wanted a bigger gun so he sold her the Model 29. Mom passed last January at 91 yrs. old and I miss her dearly. I still have the Model 29 and the wooden case that came with it. One of the finest handguns that I have ever shot. It’s still tight, no end shake, no timing issues and looks great for being a 50 year old firearm. Thanks Mom😎
Lots of awesome steel you have there. I still need to get into a wheel gun. Only reason I haven't done it is that most are more expensive when it comes to feeding them. I may get a 9mm version, if there is one that doesn't require moon clips.
These old S&W are great guns. Thats the old guns, can't say the same about the new guns. Really not made as well and the price for them is nuts. Like you, I'm glade I have a few older one's. Good video.
Good stuff! Love those old Smith's ! I have a model 27-2 6 1/2 inch barrel, model 19-3 4 inch barrel, model 13-2 4 inch barrel. Model 681 no dash 4 inch barrel. And 2 model 64's a -3 and a -5 both 4 inch.
Dude, I love that I'm not the only one who buys guns because of movies and TV shows! I bought my coach gun, my SA 6 shooter, my derringer and all my old snubs because of old TV shows and movies, most of them black and white. I love the Colt Government Mod 1911 due to many movies and shows, I want a blued snub Diamondback because of Bullitt, I want the 92FS Beretta because of Die Hard and other movies. Never saw any Lethal Weapon movies, but I have seen a few scenes with Mel Gibson and he had one I think and pictures and what not from that movie. All the old black and white mob, police and private detective shows and movies got me into old revolvers. Oh, Charley Varrick, don't know if you've seen that, but it's bad ass. It's a heist movies starring Walter Mathau as the lead guy in the heist and he has a blue snub Diamondback too. Wanted Dead or Alive with Steve McQueen makes me want a Rossi Ranch Hand. Other westerns make me want a nice lever action in 44 mag. I also want a Tommy gun one day, pistol grip forearm and drum mag with it and even a guitar case lined with velvet to break it down and put it in. I know there are others, but those are ones I love. Pretty much most of my guns and most I want are from movies and TV shows. I feel ya on that! Nice guns man.
1° awesome collection, congratulations. 2° I'm a S&W guy to, and I don't know why nobody else "S&W collectors" don't have the model 16-4! I love my gun and I only find 1 video on TH-cam whit my gun!
You are very passionate about our revolvers. For years, all I could think about was buying a stainless 686 6 shot. just had to have one. A guy at the local range let me shoot his, the I rented one. then I just put it out of my mind. Last year I started looking again, then the R8 blacked out 8 shot got my attention. It is a smooth performance center accurate pistol. However, I dislike the rubber grips they put on these days from smith. Any ideas for replacement R8 grips?
I love your 10-5 a LOT! I have another nickel 10-5 snub on layaway. I had one, traded it, and this one isn't quite as nice, but it looks pretty good. I kind of miss my 642 and my pre-10. I will probably buy one of either again. Saw pictures of a nickel SB pre-10 looked beautiful. My favorite revolver was my first one, my blued 15-3. I passed on a Mod 13 3 inch, not sure what dash number, but I think it was pinned and recessed. Beautiful blued with original magnas and I passed on it because it wasn't what I wanted my first smith to be. Waited, found my Mod 15 and it's one of my favorite guns ever! Top 5 for sure.
Today's S&W revolvers have crush fitted barrels, MIM parts, and the much loathed internal lock. But, since Colt no longer makes DA revolvers, and Korth/Nighthawk revolvers are both very expensive and limited in models, S&W is still the best choice for revolver fans. They just are not as good as they once were. I have both old ones and new ones, the new ones are not bad, but the old ones are better. You have a very nice collection there, thanks for the video!
Nice collection. You do a nice job on your videos, your enthusiasm is refreshing. Maybe get a couple Colts into the stable. P.S. What did Harrison Ford carry in "Raiders of the lost Ark"?
Super nice collection of Smiths you got there, BATJAC. In Eastwood's movie, "A Perfect World," Kevin Costner has a 4 inch model 15. And you have to find a 2 and 1/2 inch model 66, like Eastwood's character Ben Shockley had in "The Gauntlet." Keep up the great videos!👍🏻
A 2 inch model 10 or model 64 will be what I will eventually replace my RIA M206 with as my daily carry. I have a 4 inch 64 I carry sometimes, but I prefer a 2 inch, and I want 6 shots. LOL - I had that exact Safariland hostler for a police department I worked for in the eighties. I carried a model 66 in it.
I collect both S&W and Colt revolvers. I would say, as a collector, S&W is more interesting and has more variety than Colt, hands down. I would say in quality, Colt wins, hands down. Speaking of the classics, of course. After about 1969, Colt started cutting costs (and quality) ie., the MK III and Mark V series are in NO WAY comparable to the older Colt's. Head to head, I find Colt's to be generally more accurate, apples to apples. One of the most astoundingly accurate handguns I have ever seen is my Colt Officer's Model Match, .38 Special. There is a reason it dominated Bullseye competition for decades. I am NOT throwing shade at S&W. I love them, and if I had to choose ONE revolver, it would be the S&W M28...durable, no nonsense working gun.
to me the snob model 10 and 19 in 4 inch are my one ,27s 14s are very good too -iv been playing the lottery for 25 years if i ever win I'll spend a least 1/2on guns lol
Some guns are underrated in movies such as lone wolf mcquade his revolver then death wish 3 paul kersey his wildie magnum, mad max his .12 gauge cut down double barrel lepord shot gun, pulpfiction jules winfield he had i think it was a nickel plated 1911 where the grips were pearl. the blinged out guns in the romeo and juliett remake with leonardo dicaprio, idk bout young guns 1 & 2 billy the kid never real own his own pistols he tend to steal pistols off the guys he killed, the snub nose nickle plated form ford fairlane that came out of andrew "dice" clay under his sleeve lol, and all of the firearms that were in the guitar case that were in desperado and once apoun a time in mexico lol
Oh and red dawn 1984 jed had that cowboy gun six shooter that was in the glove compartment in his truck i cant recall what kind it was though he used it at times in the movie he even used it to kill the russian general at the end of the movie..
It’s awesome to see a younger guy like you getting so fired up over S&W wheel guns! The very first centerfire handgun I ever fired was my Dad’s new (at the time, back in the early 1970’s) 4” barrel Model 10.
The cinematic appeal of revolvers is something I indulge in as well. Fun video.
Great looking video and collection! I just picked up a 1962, 10-5 snubby and absolutely love it. Now looking for a model 19 snubby!
I know this is an older video, but I had to watch it. I collect Smith & Wesson revolvers also. I have a Pre-Model 10, Model 10, Model 13, Model 15, Model 19 all with 4 inch barrels. Agree 100%.....no do overs in Life.......you have a beautiful collection.....nice shoulder holsters...very cool of your buddy giving you that holster
Very good collection of downright fun wheel guns as just awesome to see and thanks for sharing...
S&W revolvers are some of the most beatiful firearms ever made. There is something about the wood and metal just makes them go WOW look at that.
Thank you.
👍 Awesome collection of S&W revolvers! S&W are my favorite revolvers too and Roy Scheider is one of my favorite actors as well. You didn’t mention the French Connection, Marathon Man and All That Jazz.
I always enjoy the revolver videos as they still get the job done.
Thank you!

No gun collection is complete without some S&W revolvers, and you have some sweet ones.
Awesome! Yeah, I agree that is a great scene from "Taxi Driver" when we see the .44 for the first time. Nice shoulder rigs, too!
Thanks!
Awesome!!! Flat out awesome! Told my wife we're watching Dirty Harry tonight.
Awesome collection, yes life is to short so enjoy , I also get your movie collection

BATJAC - You are pumped up for this video!! Love those revolvers, awesome guns!! Thanks.

Awesome set of wheelies for sure. Thanks for the mention

I let a few S & W 's go over the years, to acquire some Colts. Now I regret it. I especially miss my model 29-2 and model 19.
Nice collection. You do a nice job on your videos, your enthusiasm is refreshing. Maybe get a couple Colts into the stable.
P.S. What did Harrison Ford carry in "Raiders of the lost Ark"?
Great collection. Add a 66 no dash or dash 1 and you're good 😆

Sticking with taurus can't beat the price. 🔫👍
Huge Dirty Harry fan so naturally I own a period correct Mod 29.
Where's The S&W - Mod. 57....6 inch 41. Magnum...??? That's my favorite caliber.

At some point you're gonna need a Schofield to finish out the collection.
I do want one!!!!! Gimmie Gimmie!!!
BATJAC J.W hahah!! OK!

Lethal Weapon is the reason I wan't a Model 19 as well. I also want Danny Glover's back up gun (his S&W 5906)
Our local police use the 5906.
That's cool. I like that handgun I think it is another sexy Smith pistol. Not like the revolver but in it's own way.
to me the snob model 10 and 19 in 4 inch are my one ,27s 14s are very good too -iv been playing the lottery for 25 years if i ever win I'll spend a least 1/2on guns lol
Nice I like both those.
