I bought a Twin Town 60 tooth blade. It is super smooth and I am very impressed. I do use a reducing ring and have had no issue with it.

Never place a featherboard directly to the blade! It give pressure on the blade which can lead to a kick back and your fingers are gone! Allways put it in front of the blade.

@@Smallbarnworkshop Also for crosscuts don't use a fence, it can bind you have a kick back, use it only with a miter gauge ;) I ll buy the saxton 80 tooth after your video!

I've used Saxton blades for quite a while and always found them very good for the price.
On a side note you mentioned you cut laminate flooring with the Evolution blade, in my experience laminate flooring soon takes the edge of a blade so now I only use a jigsaw when cutting laminate.

    • @Smallbarnworkshop

Hi Dean. Yes I did cut laminate. Probably not the best idea 💡🙄 regards JP

Add the tape, or (the best solution) place laminate on the sacrificial board, then cut together. I was able to achieve excellent results on the kitchen doors.

@@5084204 by taking the edge off the blade I mean it soon makes them blunt..... not gives a bad cut....

@@dodgydino62indeed, I did misunderstand you. ;) yes, you are right, laminate flooring does burn the blades fast: there is a gillotine type tool for that floor type, though.

Any cheap blade will better the one shipped with most machines but just because cheap Saxtons cut well out of the box doesn’t mean they’ll last. It’s really false economy. Pay £50 or so for a good entry level industrial grade blade from CMT instead and you’ll get a blade with larger better quality carbide teeth that stays sharper for longer and which can be resharpened many times. Freud are ok for the money but not a patch on CMT. I would advise buying a saw bench with a 30mm arbor rather than the evolution machines 25mm. Better choice of blades.

Hi Paul. Thank you for your comments. I covered this point in my latest video when I compared the Rage 5s and DeWalt table saws. Regards JP

Both the 40T and 80T are aimed at cross cuts as they both are ATB, the 80T giving a better finish.
Saxton does not have a proper combination blade on the 40T with ATB+R which would make for a good rip+cross cut blade.
I'd use the 40T for cross cuts on harder material and the 80T on veneer or plywood for good finish.
Then you have the 24T FTG also from Saxton which is aimed at fast ripping long thick stock. (I've the three of them)
I've asked Saxton if they are planning to add a proper combination blade (ATB+R) on the 40T presentation.

@@Smallbarnworkshop Saxton replied with a kinda generic response. "We are constantly adding blades to our portfolio, so this could be a blade in the future" Nothing concrete there.

Thanks for the blade comparison but please review your safety in using this machine as I don’t want you to lose any fingers. Your feather board shouldn’t be placed alongside the blade, don’t run your left hand past the blade and never ever do a cross cut like you do at the end with it placed against the fence. Kickback from these is not to be underestimated.

Agree with this. I could see those fingers getting shopped.
If you want to review safety procedures when using a table saw, Stumpy Nubs has a great 4 video series on Table Saw safety. Great content for all woodworkers who want to keep their fingers and don't want a piece of wood hitting their face/stomach from kickback at great speed.

Another interesting video I’ve just bought the Dewalt DWE 7485 and the first thing I’m going to do is upgrade the blade. Looking at TH-cam it’s seems the Freud is the way to go. It’s a shame that they don’t do blades for Evolution
