- I'm Viky Dewgan and I was born and brought up in a small city in India, and went to a government school. Growing up, I observed that people bullied and discriminated against the boys who were less masculine and girls who were less feminine. I also experienced the same, as a ‘man’. Therefore, in this video, I have tried to question the ideas of toxic masculinity and gender roles through humour and satire.
In This Stand Up Comedy video "Lesbian Hoon Main" I have jokes related to Cough problem also known as "Khasi" in India and some jokes on Bangle and lipstick and also some of the observation about the school and also an observation like one finger pointing three finger back which means
“If you point one finger, there are three more pointing back at you”. It's simple: if you point out one fault of someone, he or she will cite a number of your own faults.
I do not belong to the LGBTQIA++ community, and in no way I claim that I can ever fully understand their lived experiences. However, as an ally, I extend my empathy towards the queer and trans community, who are struggling for their basic rights such as reservation, police protection, gender inclusive toilets, healthcare, jobs and many more. In India, parents feel scared to even talk to their children on the topics of gender and sexuality.
Disclaimer: The purpose of this video, in no way, is to troll or make fun of the LGBTQIA++ community. As an ally, I try my best to support and advocate for equal rights for the community and would like to continue to do so in future as well. Infact, I feel that people from the LGBTQIA++ community bring more humanness to this discriminatory and judgemental world, by being more real and authentic to their gender expression and sexuality. They accept themselves for who they are besides all the barriers laid by our society, which I find extremely inspiring! As an ally, I am open to keep learning from my queer and trans friends, therefore, they can leave their thoughts and feedback in the comment section.
