Personally, it's part of my EDC and I find a cotton square of cloth coming in handy frequently outside the function of being a handkerchief. I have a Mora Companion HD and I did a pretty cool forced patina on it with boiled white vinegar. It looks pretty dope, it's all flat charcoal grey now. Pretty cool.
The log carrier,could be pretty useful for other things such as a kneeling/sitting pad, attach rope to the handles *et voila* kids swing, wear it on your head for a sun shade/rain hat, fold it in half widthwise and place it around a stove as a wind block, attach it to a broom handle and you have a nifty forest fire putter outery type thingummybob...loadsa uses...Think outside of the box Doc... Oh jeez,I've forgotten to take my meds again...Haven't I?

I appreciate the bandana much more than you do for the following reasons: 1) I agree that the plant edible info is weak, especially since a book and card deck on edible plants was included 2) Bandana uses: a) Wrap around your head to help keep sweat off your face b) Emergency band aid c) Emergency toilet paper d) Char cloth e) A bandana is light weight f) A bandana is small and very easy to carry Even if I had 2 or 3, taking them with me is very simple and not intrusive.

A video on the Chaga would be pretty rad. Maybe if you try to do all those possible applications to a different piece each time just to test it's worth/utility. Awesome vid!
I freaking *LOVE* the pouch. Like, I ended up ordering a few more from BattlBox. Going to be building a shed really soon, and it'll be indispensable to hold the bolts and such I'll be using.

If you get down to eating those 2 boxes in the bush, you were not prepared for the bush. Love that little knife but I think 40 bucks is a little steep for it. Also love the little foraging bag. So many uses. So much better than that big log carrier. That is a waste just trying to boost the value of the box. Can't. go wrong with the Mora. Loving the knife of the month. That sheath is sick. Can mount just about anywhere on your gear. With a sharp edge this could be a go-to knife in my opinion
Would you try amy bora knives,it is a turkish hunting knife company,they use 440b steel and their pocket knives are lockback, they are around 700 turkish liras which is about 100 US dollars. I get one as a gift from a hunter and it is really good, but really easy to break the blade tip

As far as edible plants go its always good to have multiple references. I never trust a single reference on what I can safely eat unless its something that is common knowledge such as blackberries.
Battlbox has really been slacking lately. Just like you said, why is the mora 511 in the pro when it’s only $10? They could’ve put a Mora Bushcraft or a Light my Fire Mora for barely any more.
The grate thing about Mora knifes is that they are cheap enough that if you loose one its easy to replace so they make grate first bush craft knifes and grate for kids in the scouts.
The fighter planes they used in the doolittle raid had top secret bomb sights, and they were so classified, that the airforce was afraid they would be used by the enemy if they were found, so they had pistols built into them to destroy the key components in the event of being tooken as a pow.
I get what you're saying about duplication - but I see the benefit of the cards and the book. Not sure you'd want to carry the book while the cards would be smaller and would also provide entertainment/distraction. The bandana - nah that's not necessary.
In the WWII b 25s had special top secret bombing sights that came equipped with a pistol, and the pilot was instructed to shoot the sight it certain places if they are about to be caught, that way the enemy can not get ahold of there technology

I have seen videos on doing a patina on the mora 511 to preserve the carbon blade. What are your thoughts? Is this a smart thing to do on a budget or in a pinch?
I haven't really seen the need to force a patina. If you take care of the blade, then what's the problem, you know? I've know people to do the boiling vinegar thing, but I don't know how much protection that really gives the blade. Personally I'd just let it happen naturally.
@@MycoDaddio I sometimes leave a blue patina on knives when I temper them on the forge. It helps with rust but is only on the surface so it wears off after a while
I don't want 3 references on the same thing. The book was enough, didn't need another bandana or cards. The insects were useless and a waste of money. A Ferro rod or the morakniv with Ferro rod would have fit better into the box. A canteen with a cup would have fit nicely into this box.

Great vid. Battlbox regained some credibility with a couple of great knives there but alas again their fluff items let them down. Quality over quantity everytime. A few others have already said it but drop all the gimmicky cards, bandanas, bugs etc and throw in a good quality zippo or pair of gloves.

Personally I would've loved to see the playing cards, bandana, and bugs nixed and then that 20 some dollars put into something nice for the basic box. I personally was disappointed with the folder too the shape makes it too large for me to carry.

Since that little folding knife came oily, I would assume it's made from high carbon steel, which would explain the price.

I'm guessing the 3 different plant guides are for different packability options. Not everyone wants to carry a book.

When you reprofile the edge on your knifes do you use a whetstone, grinder, or other methods?
I like to use the Lanksy to set the edge true at the angle I want. Sometimes I'll continue with the Lansky, sometimes I'll switch to whetstones.
Those redundant items make good presents for family and friends. That's what I do with mine, regift.
Or just watch these vids and buy then cheaper if you want!
