- A new Russian ‘turtle tank’ covered in armour plating and with drone jamming equipment on its roof was spotted leading an armoured attack on the town of Kasnohorivka. The bizarre vehicle, also dubbed the Blyat-mobile by Ukrainians, was driven by troops of the 5th Motorised Rifle Brigade which is operating near Donetsk city. Russia has previously used tanks covered in armour plating and tanks with huge drone jammers on them, but has now combined the ‘technology’. Though rudimentary, the tank did appear effective in battle - shrugging off hits from Ukrainian cluster munitions and apparently evading drones during the assault. Yet more footage captures another assault by yet more unconventional armoured vehicles in the same area, which are all covered by some form of armour plating. The lead tank also appears equipped with a mine plough to break through Ukrainian minefields. Russia has begun experimenting with unconventional tanks after a huge number of its regular vehicles were destroyed in attacks on cities like Bakhmut and Avdiivka. Even for a country as large as Russia, losses like that are unsustainable so Putin’s generals have been forced to find ways to protect their armour. Ukraine has so-far had some success with defeating these vehicles, but it remains to be seen whether that success will continue. #russia #urkaine #war

Ukrainians laughed at this turtle tank. And this tank rode with a minesweeper for a long time right in front of the Ukrainian positions with complete impunity. Firstly, it cleared the approaches, and secondly, the Russians spotted all the Ukrainian firing points. If it seems to you that Russians are doing something funny and stupid, then it means that you don't understand something.

It did its work very well. It was not made for beauty show. The beautiful brandley and challengers saw dust few days after they were deployed. Its not about looks but getting work done

This shows how little artillery Ukraine has available. This turtle went further and further into the centre of the town completely unchallenged turned around and later returned home safely after this reconicence trip. No drones were able to approach it. No doubt the Russians just moved in here the next day.
Ukraine had the largest amount of artillery in Europe and the West also supplied them in huge quantities. Russia simply destroyed most of the Ukrainian artillery. They are at war with Russia.

Everyone laughed at cope cages. Then they started fitting them to western tanks. I don't know if this experiment will become more widespread but this tank drove across the railway lines into Ukraine held part of the City and then returned.
More importantly, Russia drove multiple vehicles across open fields and into the City apparently without loss. It does not bode well for the future of Krasnohorivka which is also being pummeled with FAB glide bombs.
The cover combined with the jammer makes it a lot harder to take these out with drones. The extra "armor" is thin but will set off the drone's shaped charge, which will then fail to penetrate the tank's actual armor. To kill these tanks you need to hit them from the front or behind, under the cover. Not impossible but you'll have to control the drone up to the last second, and the jammer makes that impossible. So far it seems a fairly effective combo.
I'm sure Ukraine will come up with something. Maybe drop a strong explosive from altitude, to either damage the jammer or blow off some of the plating, giving kamikaze drones an opening.
@@kaasmeester5903 You'd need multiple hits to do anything. By then it's at the objective, killing troops/demining and your are overrun. Then they'll add a 2nd layer... etc.. edit: a hit to engine bay won't kill the tank. Just disable it.
@@kaasmeester5903 The armor on it isn't that thin at all its like 1/2 steel flat stock plus the panels on top. Enough to severely slow down an atgm by the time it gets to the actual composite armor. Its not like German Shutzen skirts which were only 12mm thickness

THe same with ukrainian tanks. most of them being destroyed with drones far away from the frontline. the drone is a gamechanger in modern warfare. and dont forget the most vehicles on the battlefield are constructed 30-40 years ago on both sides. 40 years ago nobody thought there will be small drones(50-200$?!) with rpg warheads on the battlefield.

Russia just produced a new batch of 1,000 T-80 BVM tanks. I would suggest people to look at the specs and features of this new version of the T-80, the thing is gonna be a beast in the battlefield, improved reactive armor, improved sights, targeting systems, new cannon that can boast different types of ammunitions but the most important feature has to be the new UAV jammer. From what I've seen from the tests done, the FPV drones drop like flies around it. NATO woke the bear....

Interesting. If that is the case, drone tactics will have to change again. Instead of doing FPV drone, one will need to fly high and drop bombs, staying clear of the tank, and dropping artillery rounds like we saw in the early days of the war. What is the effective range of the UAV jammer? Otherwise they just have to resort to calling in the artillery rounds.

The Turret was damaged in a previous attack so they used this tank as a mine clearer(you can see it on the front half way through the video)
They put the extra armour on to protect it from mini drone attacks whilst clearing mines and it clearly worked whilst costing next to nothing.
People will laugh yet it worked here.
As we’ve seen with all tanks they’re next to useless now! Abram’s have been destroyed within minutes on the front line by weapons costing £10k

@tidehunterzamora9315 that was becuas IS lacked shaped charges in that fight. Against modern kinetic or shaped charge muntions wood is near useless.
@@tidehunterzamora9315 wood armor might viable against enemies that uses low velocity and cheap rpgs and 40mm grenades. The philippine army tanks that were used are not mbts, ifvs but apcs that can protect up to rifle rounds and shrapnels only but needed additional armor against rpg2 and 40mm grenades. Maute doenst have any sophisticated AT systems and neither does the Army. Funny thing is that the siege is low intensity conflict yet philippine govt still needs military multinational support to take control a 87.55 sq/km city lmao
