  • In this video a pre-release version of FlightZoomer 3 is flown over a distance of 6820km. My beta tester Drew is flying from New York, while the flight takes place in Switzerland.
FlightZoomer is a system, where an onboard smartphone is linked with 1...n cockpit apps.
Beside the full instrument suite, that provides situational awareness to Drew, the synthetic FPV view and the vertical situation display gives superb feedback about the terrain.

What aircraft did you use for this flight? It looks very good. I might like to purchase one to use with FZ. Thanks

The aircraft is a Multiplex Easystar II. It is my fixed wing testbed and it served that purpose perfectly. It is a simple plane, just got the ailerons but no speed sensor...

Synthetic FPV? Looks 'staged' why not true video?

True video can be displayed in the app too! Via USB UVC grabber. The app either can replace the synthetic FPV entirely by the video feed or show the real video feed in a moveable and resizable overlay window. In my channel you find the video "Synthetic & Classic FPV combined" which shows the embedded true video feed.
But - the synthetic FPV view has also some undeniable advantages!
      - Requires only telemetry data to be transmitted -> minimalistic hardware footprint/no fancy antennas needed
      - Unlimited range
      - The sun always shines! No fog, no clouds, never night!
      - The viewpoint (pan + elevation) can be dragged with the finger over the touchscreen
      - The synthetic camera either shows the aircraft attitude or stays fixed at constant pitch/bank angles
      - The view is full HD
