Arun as u asked for Himalayan owner inputs for your friends. For first 1000 km engine break in period., PLEASE DON’T FOLLOW the manual guide lines for gear changing and RPM maintaining parameters.. if we ride in their given way, up to 4th gear you will feel the piston nocking sound soon as you change the gears from the initial time. Till the proper RMP hit for that specified gear ratio.. this will lead to get unwanted head noise very soon easily and sometime timing chain tensioner failure also might happen. I left my bike at RE service center for last 1 month for timing chain tensioner failure but this happened suddenly to my bike., as because I have an engine warranty and also engine spares you would get that easily at least for another 1 year, otherwise I serviced myself.. because I am owning a RE exclusive service centre at Chennai.. hope this inputs will help others. And any additional clarity plz reply
So if we doesn't follow the manual for breakin period. What would you suggest brother ? Kindly guide us how to ride in breakin period so that we won't get that noise issue and chain tensioner issue.
@@SATHISHKUMAR-mx3hq If the manual guide said change the 1st to 2nd in the speed of 20kmph or 2000 rpm then you shift the gear 1st to 2nd for 30kmph or 3000 rpm. The logic behind this is the engine should not labour… Labour means let’s say example, if you are riding your bike in 60kmph in 5th gear, then you are slow down the bike for some reason from 60kmph to 30kmph, next what will you do immediately, you will do down shift the gear from 5th to 3rd or 2nd. Then only the engine run smoother only if you down shift.. if you don’t down shift the gear and still you driving in 5th gear with 30kmph then the piston knocking sound will come, the engine will struggle to perform. that is called engine labour. because the gear ratio and speed are not matching eventually.. So this same formula were you need to apply here from 1st gear to 6th gear, without engine labour.. Hope you clear I believe..
Nothing to scratch ur head much, just ride casually like the other bikes and keep shifting without engine knocking. Only thing is to maintain the speed between 80-100 kmph during breakin period.
Purchased Himi450 recently sir. What are the things you've mentioned is true. Most of them correct. Using aftermarket windshield, pillion foot pegs, tail rack, from carbon racing. Now I'm feeling better on highways. And city too. Going to upgrade seat cushions from nearby upholstery shop. They're doing their work for past 40 years. The headlight, it was too high in stock settings. Adjusted with allen key and now it's JUST OKAY. Planning to connect my maddog scoutx later. Still confused in wiring. And I'm 5'10. So I keep the seat height to the top. Still feeling good to maneuver in city traffic. And learning new things like turning, overtaking without disturbing the engine, keeping the RPM and the gear position same.. learning is good right. Enjoying the Machine sir. Thank you for sharing your knowledge sir. With love, one of a FRIENDSCRIBER for past 2 years❤
I bought himalayan 450 feb 2024, bike passed 4k km above In city traffic engine heating is the main issue other you bro mentioned points are adjustable
I recently purchased the Himalayan 450. I understand all the points you mentioned, but I still believe that the Himalayan is better for comfortable riding and bonding with the bike. I love this bike. I have noticed the issue with the handlebar pulling to the right, but I am willing to compromise because I am learning the bike's character. Thank you for the Himalayan review. 🙏Sir 🫡
