    Hey everyone. Just rewatched the video and saw the questions you asked which I don’t think I answered so here they are:
    • Kids Club is 3-12 years
    • There is currently drink service to the pool and beach areas but not yet for food - they did in the past, so I chalk this up to being newly opened.
    • Preferred Club does not have separate section on beach. Will have upgraded bar at PC Lounge but this isn’t open yet. PC basically gives you best view in the house (this is what i always try to book for myself!)
    • Pools heated? The consensus seems to be no for pools and swim ups but you would be best to send an email to the resort to inquire as this may simply be undecided at this point. I’ll try to find out more as well but jacuzzi is definitely heated.
    • not sure about a tamarind mojito but the most popular drink in Cancun/Mayan at the moment is a regular or spicy Mango Margarita with Tajin rim. Try it. You won’t be disappointed.
    • Cannot get coffee with Baileys at upstairs Coco Cafe but you can take your coffee to the buffet and get it added there. (Or just get coffee from buffet).
    If you have other questions, please post them below and I’ll get them answered!!

      Hi! We are going in a few weeks. I've heard that theres a dolphin area by the resort, can you swim with them / who is that through if so? Thanks!

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@achick356 yes there is a dolphinarium on the back side of the resort and also one in town (a 5 minute walk from the resort). Sometimes you can find Groupon deals for them but each place is a separate company. Personally, I think the dolphin interactions are better at the one in town so you may want to check them out once you get there instead of buying ahead of time. You can easily see each show at the resort or in town and decide from there. Pro-tip - ask someone to take pics or video of you when you’re interacting with the dolphins - the ones they sell are super expensive.

    This video is so helpful!!! Thank you! As this was done in 2022 wondering if they did more upgrades. The big water slide is for everyone?

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michelle! Thanks for watching! The only other upgrades that have been ongoing is the continued tweaking of the rock wall to keep the seaweed (sargassum) out of the bay. When it was initially built, it reduced the water flow and people complained, so they've had to open it up a bit to keep the water moving, while trying to keep the sargassum out - quite the challenge!!
      As for the waterslide, I believe there is a height/age restriction for kids but there were a lot of adults using it & having a great time - especially the one where they drop you into a tube and you blast out the other side! Not for the feint of heart!!
      Are you planning to go or are you already booked?

      Hi Naty! The ocean view rooms all face the beach. Sunset or dolphin-view rooms are on the back side of the resort. Having said that, the resort is shaped like a star, so everything is quite close and easy to navigate. From the adult side, it takes less than a minute to walk through the building to the beach. Have a great trip!

    Hi Christine. We traveled to Dreams Puerto Aventura about 13 years ago on one of the surprise vacation locations. It was right after my wife's back surgery so the small size was perfect for us. With new back problems - we just got back last week. Had really looked forward to seeing the resort after your report on the renovations. We had one giant surprise, however! The rock barrier that has been put in to protect the beach has also made a stagnant pond that smells like a wastewater plant. Even the employees would agree that the water smells so badly that few go in. Sure, the next resort north is not far too walk to get into the fresh saltwater, but getting there past the stink pond is offensive to the nose. Other than that, we loved the resort but won't go back due to this engineering blunder. Yes, the sargassum grass is still an issue, but it's manageable.

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jeff! Wow it sounds like things have taken a turn for the worse! When I was there in September, they were trying to pump out some of the stagnant water (or maybe they were trying to pump in fresh?). Are they still fiddling with it to improve the situation? I can't imagine they would turn a blind eye to it since they'll get buried with bad reviews. Personally, I'm a pool girl so it wouldn't bother me but it's a shame that it didn't work out as planned. Thanks for the update!

    • @jeffbean4925
      @jeffbean4925 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChristineTurner yes, they still have 1 employee in the water almost everyday with a pump trying to suck stuff off the bottom. It is just overbearing for how they are trying to clear it out. Pity the spa tent people and boating folks who sit down wind all day long.
      I am sympathetic about the sattgassum grass, but they did themselves no favor.

I can't wait to see the rooms....we are hoping to upgrade to Prefered Club as we did in 2018. I am sure that they are beautiful. Just hope they still have the King Ocean View!! You answered my question about the PCR test so that's a bit of a load off our minds.
    I did have a question as to whether excursions are still going on, we usually book when we get there. We love to be active and busy....lol.

      Yes I’ve seen water activities (jet skis and parasailing in Cancun plus speed boat tours, pirate ship, and one guest was speaking of an ATV tour ). The ruins are open and tours are happening. Basically everything’s open - it’s just a case of wearing a mask, depending on what you’re doing. Here in Puerto Aventuras, there are fishing boats, catamaran cruises, and loads of folks swimming with the dolphins. Hope that helps!

      Hi Indianseal! The weather is pretty unpredictable at that time of year - I've been several times over Christmas and, on some trips, it's been lovely the whole trip and other times, we've had a few chilly days. It's never been so cold that I've regretted a trip - other than my trip to Mazatlan this spring, with highs of barely 20 and lows of 8 - same temps we were getting in Vancouver! That said, friends who went to Mazatlan literally the week before and the week after we were there, it was much warmer, so it's just luck of the draw.

      Yes the adult pool and main pool swim up bars are open all day and the main pool (non-swim up) is open in the evening too. You can always go for a drink to Gohan as well (best views!). I’m not sure about drinks currently but I always used to order a glass of wine to my room as soon as I checked in so no reason to suspect otherwise. Also the sports bar is open on weekends for NFL.

    I've been out exploring today and just watched your video.
    I definitely understand the humidity issues there and Cabo. I actually don't mind heat, it just the humidity that makes you uncomfortable.
    Just a few tidbits of information:. The Antigen and PCR tests are performed exactly the same, with a nasal swab. The difference is the "reagent" they use to make the results appear. The PCR tests are developed in a laboratory for the final results. The Antigen is developed the same as a pregnancy test, in minutes basically on a piece of small white cardboard display.
    In many luxury hotels, not even on a beach have alarms on the doors if you don't completely shut the door. First time I saw these was during my first trip to Dubai. Also, all room requests are displayed in icon form outside your room. Like you need housekeeping or do not disturb. I like the door alarms. I carry my own for just in case.
    Just one thing about those swimup rooms. I notice that those with the smaller balcony have a lot more privacy than the larger ones that have actually no privacy. I'll take the smaller ones 👍
    And that health questionnaire applies to a specific flight. So any previous ones can not be used. It needs to be filled out within 12 hours of the flight leaving.
    Waiting on any food videos!

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the humidity is rather incredible and that’s a lot to say for someone who lives in the west coast. The heat is tremendous and knocks your socks off when you’re not in the pool or shade.
      We are lucky in Canada because we have a swish test (like gargle & spit) which is so much more comfortable. This will be a new process for me.
      Yeah the swim up rooms are all a bit different. I’m not a fan of these at most resorts personally because there’s no privacy and I prefer to have the room curtains open. I have seen good layouts at certain resorts but here, it’s ideal for families and groups who want that easy water access.
      Good to know about the health form! Will fill out another one before we go!

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChristineTurner The nasal swab test are very comfortable if done by a person who knows what they're doing. These tests are new and most people aren't trained correctly. Let me give you a major suggestion before you get one done. Make sure you control your head. Make sure your head is all the way back to the point it won't move anymore. That's how it suppose to be otherwise if your head slightly moves the swap will be painful. People don't realize that when they get these tests done by untrained people. If done right you won't feel anything but a slight tickle if that. They will say they are done and you'll be thinking what? It's over? I would suggest getting it done at the airport or a hospital where they have done thousands of these. Don't go by the price. I rather pay more and get it done right.

    • @GlobalAdventurer
      @GlobalAdventurer 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChristineTurner ...also, the particles initially get into the front of your nose and it generally takes at least 24 hours for it to duplicate into the back of your nose and finally grow inside the lungs. Mist scientists now are trying to find ways to catch it before it replicates and travels to the back of the sinuses. This is what they are recommending.....use "Nose-In" anytime you even think you may have contacted covid or anytime you are around a lot of people. Nose-In is used in hospitals in patients before and after surgery to help prevent them from contracting germs and getting infected. It's basically ethanol same alcohol in liquor (natural), it's not isopropyl alcohol that has contamiinents. The nose in is mixed with a gel too. It's applied up the patient's nose, no further than a finger could reach. That's what covid nurses and doctors use daily to help clean their nasal passages from covid. I use Purcell hand sanitizer it is just ethanol and gel. I use it daily for prevention after being around people regardless if I have a mask on. But they said something as simply as gargling with diluted hydrogen peroxide can be preventive.

      Hi Anna! I was there a month ago and am booked for December. I know they’re working through the beach water issue to find a happy medium. The Catalonia next door doesn’t have the breaker to stop the seaweed so frankly, it’s a mess. I’d rather take still water I can kayak or paddle board over, than water that’s got sitting seaweed which means plenty of mosquitoes. So it’s a work in progress for now. Because of the breaker, you can play with your kids on the sand and make sandcastles etc. I don’t have any experience with the kids club but there was a steady flow of kids dragging their parents over there to get in so it’s obviously popular. This resort has a ton of activities through out the day, so that’s great for all ages. Hope that helps!

    I just have a couple questions the The beach is now enclosed I heard of some people saying it’s more like a lake does that mean it’s kind of stagnant and dirty or unappealing?
    Second question I saw a video saying that there’s a private beach on the north side of the resort looks like it’s close to the barracuda bar? And this looks very family orientated but what about adults are there any hopping bars or music where is this whole resort very mellow? Is there any nearby nightclubs we can go to that are open past 11? I know it’s inside to get a community would you not suggest to leave that community? As far as shopping we’re going to another bar or nightclub? I’m planning on my wedding there most of the people they are coming with family so I think it’s a great resort I’m worrying about the people that are in their 30s with no kids are they going to enjoy their time there it doesn’t seem like there’s any kind of party scene there or anywhere nearby.

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Sherri. When we left, they were just setting up a dredge to clear out any of the remaining seaweed. There is an entrance but it's doing a great job of keeping all the seaweed out. The water is very calm - saw some people in the ocean and lots of people kayaking and I'm sure paddle boarding will be huge there.
      There is a natural pool by the Barracuda bar but it's a bit rocky - you'll definitely want water shoes for this.
      At night, the sports bar becomes the disco, so there is stuff going on at the resort. A few minutes walk away at the marina, there are several restaurants and bars that have stuff going on. Latitude 20 is right there and Hippos and Nauti Burro also have nightly entertainment going on.
      For wedding groups, it's perfect because the resort is easy to get around and there's really something for all ages. You're also just 20 minutes from Playa del Carmen, so if they want to do a group trip to Coco Bongo one night, that's an option!

      No not yet but I will ask again before I leave. I want to get a firm answer on this because it’s really going to make a difference for people in the winter months. Stay tuned!!

      I was there 2 weeks ago and I’m from Kentucky . And there not really heated pools they just keep them all warm but not super hot

      @ChristineTurner  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@godisgood1163 they’re heated naturally from the sun in the summer and fall but come December, they will need to heat them a bit. It doesn’t sound like they will be heating the swim up pools though!

      Hi Darla! Yes they have activities throughout the day and in the evening, they have a show, either in the theatre or sometimes outside by the pool.

    Is there an area to snorkel at the resort?

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The ocean is very busy with birds diving for fish but the water was quite shallow so you might want water shoes. The seaweed (sargassum) has been an issue from Cancun down to Tulum so you will see that here too but who knows - in 2 weeks it could be clear. No seasonality or predictability to it!

    How is the dress code for the Italian and seafood restaurants?

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a mixed bag right now with some guys in shorts and sandals but that’s only going to last for a matter of time as it was previously long pants and closed toe shoes… pack accordingly!!
      Seafood was casual so dress shorts were just fine.

    Is there live entertainment at night?

    • @ChristineTurner
      @ChristineTurner  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Diana! Yes they had entertainment almost every night with a show or music. What everyone seemed to like best though, is when the Barracuda bar (the oceanfront swing bar) was open - great for socializing, enjoying a drink, and hanging out!

      There’s a very small splash pool in the kids club and the main pool also has a kids section. Hope that helps!

      @@angiewebber3439 oh I 100% know exactly how you feel. Felt that way myself. You’re flying from YVR or ? (Sorry - flurry of comments in the last 2 days). I was surprised at how normal everything was at the airport and on the plane and once you get here…heaven. Everyone is relaxed and happy and it’s just perfect. Need a little patience with some things being a bit slow here and there but that’s not hard to muster when you’re on vacation!! Have a great trip!!
