Sorry about the terrible quality. after uploading, I realised there was a problem with the file formats and the only way to get all the files to work, was to reduce the quality and change the file formats. Hope you can enjoy anyway. Normal quality will resume :)
Thanks Simon. Great to have you on board. Im working on a few new videos. I now have the new PNI Escort HP 82 which is the same as the Thunderpole TX. I aso have the PNI Escort HP 62 which is simular to the Alan. Ill be making a video next week on all of this. Thanks again :)
I got two miles on my tx on standard rubber duck aerial tried a mag mount on a biscuit tin with silver foil and got to 8 miles much better tx would work great with a tall thunder pole on roof or a dy pile in the loft
Great video and test of different radios and antennas. Really enjoyed watching this. I have just bought the Jopix 514 (same as Thunderpole TX/PNI Escort HP82) can't wait for it to arrive 👍
Would be great to see this Thunderpole T-X go up against the President Randy III, have yet to see anyone try out this comparison, I think a lot of us would like to see it.
Do you have the details of the telescopic antenna, please? I've been trying to decide between the TX and the Alan 42. I think I'll go for the TX. The antenna upgrade wouldn't be a bad idea for it too.
Hello, thanks for the video. Sincerely, the thunderpole audio is narrow and bass little distortion for fm displacement, the alan 42 is clear and treble, i understand.
Fantastic video (seen the other video died y cover this at all great job James) I’m a licensed Ham and curious about CB need to get my head around the AM / FM choice/legality. It’s very telling that over whatever distance you guys were apart that a 70cms transceiver outperforms a 11m transceiver that opens up a can of worms clearly the antennas are. Compromised and I’d be curious to know how a 1/2 wavelength would perform on 27mhz. Theoretically 27.70125 should outperform 443mhz so why wasn’t it? Are you too close and it’s trickling through in ground effect or are the transceivers just really poor? I know SSB is different but I’ve had 4&5w transatlantic QSO’s - there are regular 2m QSO’s from Africa to Helena so why is “CB” so poor? Also given the context of this video Pmr radios are outperforming CB and gave much smaller full sized antennas so what’s the point of the CB (I’m not knocking it as personally I like the idea of an alternative radio mode and would like to explore things with the thunderpole TX but not if it’s going to be lower quality than a Baofeng bf888 I like WRP portable comms do have a great practical understanding of what’s achievable with minimum power but to be fair I’ve never used AM but I have a transceiver that can transmit on CB bands so will explore further before buying a cb the Thunderpole tx
@@Shack-time I thought i was going mad. Bought a Thunderpole t-x & couldn't hear anything one on any channel. What is strange if you go up & down channels you can hear someone. Rang thunderpole & they confirmed it had been reported before when NRC is enabled! you can still hear it even with the antenna disconnected!!
Ok, so the issue I found, and its the same as the PNI Escort HP82... is that if the signal is weak, then the NRC assumes its interference and cuts you out. Its a great feature but you have to be on your guard when talking to DX stations@@andyb6120
Ok, first of all I cant believe I actually tried that..... secondly... Oh My Gosh! Thst sounded like a Ghost box on the Ghost Hunter programs !!!!@@andyb6120
Thanks guys great video. I note Lewis, and others have praised in particular the Rubber duck antenna on the TX, the question I found myself asking was - would putting the the TX’s rubber duck on the Midland make any difference to its performance? I.e. how much of a difference is it making?
i bought 6 President Randys . All of the antennas fell apart . I purchased aftermarket HYS antennas plus BNC to TNT adapters so we could continue to use the radios. Where can I buy these radios ? I want the European version because they still use USA frequencies. Im here in New York City

That was an awesome test loved it from Indiana USA
Thank you!
Great to see your review, I've just ordered one of these. New subscriber here - I just came from Lewis' channel.

Both are exactement the same sensitives with stock antenna. Thunderpole is amazing with NRC .you forget Randy 3
Hi great video, what do you use as a counterpois on the portapack? I can't help thinking the swr must be way out?
Love it james. You should get a thunderpole tx. Great radio.
I'd Love one. I think its a great radio and I love the features on it.
On the thunderpole was it the hys 130M. Thanks
Yes it was. Lots of varitions of this antenna for sale on ebay and amazon
Good video. I have the Midland 42 and the telescopic antenna. Most stations said my audio was low, but your audio was fine in the video.
Yea I believe sometimes it comes across as low…. I’m still pleased with the performance. I’m hoping to get a thunderpole… great fun being portable

Excellent pub in the back ground.

When are we going to see the 100 watt burner in the boot! LOL
I would never own such a thing 🤭

Nice video!! Cool radios. Listen, can you tell me what pouch are you using? Thanks!
I think the noise reduction works better on my T-X than on most other cb's that I've owned.

Thunder pole tx is amazing little hand held

Was humming and arrring about the Midland 42. It looks and sounds amazing, was some over modulation but a great radio.
I was talking far to close to the mic. It did sound over modulated but if used properly, sounds fine.
the ALAN 42 in the USA is the MIDLAND 75-822. Im hopeful that we get the THUNDERPOLE also. I think it will be more popular than the PRESIDENT RANDY.
The Thunderpole is definately more popuar and lower cost than the President. Would be a great choice
Mine picked up the US on EU AM which I think is Mid band on the stock antenna. But here's the thing though. I was inside my house
Awesome. Thank you
You're welcome!
Like to see more of this please
I'll be doing a futher video on this very soon.
I bought a pair of these thunder pole radios, in my opinion you’d be better off with two baked bean cans a a lenghth of string
Resolution is bad
Sir, I wouldn’t expect anything less. Bless you 🙏
thunderpole alive and well in s,wales .......spannerman 10-4...
