    In this video I talk about how you should design your first coaching package. When building your own consulting business, one of the hardest tasks is to design your initial offer.
    Don’t waste time trying to create the perfect offer for your first few clients, you’ve never done this before after all, so the initial few clients are going to be a learning experience.
    I recommend you start small when designing your first offer. Ideally, It should be about 90 days.
    This is so you have long enough that you can provide your client with real results, but it’s also short enough that you aren’t stuck with them long-term if you don’t enjoy working with them.
    Another thing to keep in mind is that your process is going to be far from perfect in the
    beginning, but don’t worry about perfecting the process yet, it’s too early for that. At the start, you’re going to be inefficient, and you won’t be entirely sure what to even expect, but the only way to remedy this is with experience.
    This is important to remember when you’re deciding what to offer because ultimately, you’re flying blind until you have your first few clients under your belt.

      Focus on your pain points. Who were you a few years ago? Which problems have which you, or someone else, solved for YOU which you will solve for your clients? This is a great place to start gaining clarity on who your clients will be and what their pain points are.

    Hi Luisa, to answer your question about any tips I have: my advice for selling coaching services is do it with an FAQs page, rather than lengthy explanations on a website or brochure. People won't read those, and they don't convert into sales in my experience. FAQs pages with the end phrase being: sign up (if you have an online shopping cart) or How do I sign up? (then a clickable phone number or email) has been converting to sales for two years for me.
    My FAQs are:

    Q: How does it benefit me?

    Q: How does it work exactly?

    Q: What does it cost?
    A:
    Q: How do I sign up? (Or Sign up button leading to shopping cart and online payment)

    THANK YOU for the point about learning to BE a good coach early on and not focusing on that efficiency and making the most profit that early on. I have been feeling so torn in this- I build a great business structure from the start (with an epic mentor) but then I was struggling because I'd set up this boundary and structure... and then I didn't give myself room to over-deliver and I felt like I wasn't allowed to give too much of my time. It was totally the opposite of the way I wanted to show up- especially as a new coach like you pointed out! Now, hearing you say this, that instinct I had and the longing for more flexibility and less pressure for efficiency makes a lot more sense! The efficiency can come after I've really set a strong foundation for myself AS a coach too. *boom*

    Luisa, I have a long history with Coaching, going back to the 1970s, but it was all pro bono. I took the past 17 years off, for things like college and being a caregiver to my Mom. I have multiple Certifications for coaching, but I know what areas I plan to focus on. I have also set aside time for pro bono work at Domestic Abuse shelters where I live.
    My coaching will be part-time, to start off so I can see how it goes. Would that be the best approach?
    I was wondering what is the best program to use to record the calls with clients? I haven't heard anyone who does videos on Coaching mention this. This will help in transcribing notes and be sure I get all the important points. I will of course take notes, but it's still easy to miss something. I know you need consent from the client to do this, and I would require this approval in writing.
    I thank you for proving informative videos on this subject. What I did so long ago has become an entire industry, but I believe I should claim my place in it.

    • @kai-gausmann-consulting

      It really depends on their social status and their aspirations. Imagine: Most families take out a loan for 100k for their student tuition. What do you think are they willing to pay for something truly transformative? Considering, they earn a good salary. You could even map out different prices for different social situations. It really boils down to: Who do you want to work with? Do they have the money? Who could I look for, who has the money?

      It's really your decision. But always remember energy flows, where focus goes. From my own experience I can tell, that you will have those people who won't wanna commit to a package. Is that the kinda people you really wanna work with? You will find people who do commit. So it's more about your anxiety than about if you should offer one offs.

I.e. if you could write her profile because you have the knowledge than you could make this one time compromise. Knowing, you never want to do that again and make that clear in the future from the beginning ;-) What do you think?

    Thank you Luisa for this great video. How many people should be in a call max.? Should I offer rolling courses (I want to work as a health coach with focus on burnout recovery and prevention) or various start dates/waiting lists?

    • @kai-gausmann-consulting
      @kai-gausmann-consulting 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It really depends on your niche and the way you setup your group. But as a rule of thumb: 8 - 20 max. Don't put more than 20 people in one group. You can also have multiple groups. 8 is more intimate, more value per customer. Also you should have less than 8 because not always every one participates. And you do not want to sit there with only 1 or 2 people ;-)
      As for your 2nd question: If you do rolling courses you have to have a minimum of 7 participants. To start with. If you what to have a common starting date, you need to have a really good marketing in place already. Because what happens if you haven't enough people at your starting date ;-)

  • @enchantedfrogpond
    @enchantedfrogpond 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    You make it clear that the $1500 package does not include you "doing the work" for them. In my field, it's highly likely that I will have some clients who also need "concierge" support for a limited time (making phone calls to locate specific resources because they are too busy or don't know how to find the information they need). Would you recommend a second tier for that type of service, working into the "support" structure, or having a separate hourly rate?

      If you are doing weekly calls of 1hr each, than you can work with up to 15 clients with regular working hours (nothing crazy something around 40). Because the rest of the time you'll spend doing marketing and sales. Of course if you wanna do 60 or 80 hours per week than you could even fit in more. Question is: How strong does this lifestyle wear you down?

    I want to teach Business English for people who are already at intermediate level on normal English. I know it's not coaching per se, but I want to approach it this way. You mentioned that $1500 won't apply to all skills. Do you think this price is too high for what I want to teach? Thanks a lot.

      Not necessarily! I've seen language coaches charge this and more. That being said, it depends on your specific audience, background, credentials, all the factors, and the best way to figure out what is a good price for you is to start with this and test. That is the best way to get a feel for the best price for you to start with!
