Life is too short for puzzles for that's not enjoyable. I am glad you stopped, we need to be reminded we have a choice and a hobby is supposed to be fun. Continue to have fun!
Exactly! I like a challenge but overall I want it to be enjoyable. There are achievable challenges and unachievable ones - this just felt too unbearable to me.
I’m actually really happy to see you didn’t force yourself to suffer through this puzzle! There’s so many amazing puzzles out there… if it isn’t enjoyable, it’s not worth doing it! Especially at 6,000 pieces - seven times over and over and over. Not worth it!
It all just felt so overwhelming to me. Thank you for the support - you're right, it's not worth suffering through. Wait til you see my upcoming puzzle haul - puzzles that make me smile from ear to ear!
I am with you 100% on your decision. We watch to see you enjoy making puzzles. This also in a weird way gives us permission not to suffer for a hobby. Thank you.
Forget about what others may say about you giving up. No judgement here. You have just given the green light to others who may be struggling with a particular puzzle- whether it be the size or the image, but the bottom line is this - puzzling is a hobby that should be fun. If it wasn’t, it would be called ‘work’. Kudos to you!!!
Thank you!! So many people think that since they started a puzzle, they have to finish it. I say no! If you are not having fun, it's not worth it. I love a challenge but I want it to be an enjoyable challenge. So if this video gives even just one person the "permission" to stop doing a puzzle that they are not enjoying, then it was all worth it to me. I promised myself when I started my channel that I would never turn my love of puzzling into a job.
Never ever force yourself through a puzzle just for the viewers sake. I do not want people to suffer just for views, it makes me feel bad as well! I personally watch videos like this to decide if I wanna build the jigsaw myself as well, so I value honest reviews too :)
I just won't enjoy building it and I know that will come across on camera. I'm not one to do anything just for views - a promise I made to myself. I also don't enjoy videos if I know the person is not having fun either. And that's another thing, I promise to always be honest.
I love that you also said “Ciao!” to the puzzle! So far there’s only one puzzle I’ve done that I had to brute-force my way through. The color palette was dark, the image was highly repetitive and the pieces were glossy to the point of making it difficult to read the information on them. I started and stopped it twice - finally I found a board with a cover to keep it on while I worked on other more fun projects. After a while it was through sheer stubbornness that I persisted all the way to the end. Before putting it back in the box I bagged it in quadrants (250 pieces each) with the pieces coded on the back with dots. That way a future puzzler could choose to do them all at once or yell “uncle!” and do it one section at a time. Not too long ago I thought I’d try one of the quadrants and very quickly decided I didn’t need to do that again!
There are just so many other amazing puzzles out there that I want to do...why waste it on being miserable doing a puzzle I don't enjoy...?? I've gotten nothing but love and support about this decision. 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles Exactly!! I’ve come to think of “that puzzle” as The Purple Menace. On the other hand…. Is Galison a brand available to you in NZ? I recently did a 750 by them “Frank LLoyd Wright Midway Mural” that I really enjoyed.
I completely understand Donnalouise!! I’ve come to realise that Educa is divisive in that sense. I don’t have blurriness in Wildlife, but the loose fit seems to be universal with their puzzles, big and small. I totally get how annoying that can be. In terms of Adrian Chesterman - I did a 3k of his by Puzzle Anatolian - it’s called 360 World - I liked their quality. It’s also buildings - in fact, I remember asking you about what some of the buildings were. Good on you for staying true to yourself - if you don’t like it, don’t do it - especially when it’s 42k pieces!!
I definitely want to do another Adrian Chesterman puzzle. I did like the one you did - very similar to this Educa one. I must go look up what other artwork he has had made into puzzles. Thanks for always being so supportive Vicky!
I don't blame you at all! That puzzle does not seem worth the headache...And I think we all are told we need to finish what we start, but when we're doing something for fun, I don't think we need to suffer. Some companies just don't make things in the same quality as others and it seems to be the case with this one. Hears hoping your next puzzle is much more enjoyable!
Thank you! I have some lovely puzzles coming up and am really excited for them. I don't understand why Educa doesn't address at least the crumbly issue with their puzzles. They have such lovely artwork but the pieces are just not enjoyable (for me at least) to work with.
@@fortheloveofpuzzles I hate to say it, but likely it's money. :( But you'd think they'd realize that they're losing business when people only buy 1 instead of many.
We still love you, don't you ever dare forcing yourself through a puzzle you don't enjoy! Pack em up and move on, the fun puzzles are tired of waiting for you! 🤪
It's always sad giving up a puzzle and I won't lie, I was looking forward to see this specific puzzle finished. But since you couldn't enjoy it anymore and you would have to force yourself to finish it, then I am happy for you and your decision. I encountered Educa puzzles myself and I can feel you 100% about the pieces quality. And mine were only 500 pieces... Enough though to decide that I wouldn't buy another Educa puzzle again, ever...! Good luck with your next puzzles, can't wait!
If it would have been divided into section of 1,000 pieces, then I would have completed it as I would have only had to deal with the crumbly pieces. But all the potential false fits and bags of 6,000 pieces is just too much to deal with and not enjoyable. I have many more fun puzzles to come! 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles I totally understand what you are saying. A puzzle has to be enjoyable and not frustrating while building. So, if you were not enjoying it anymore, it was the right decision for you to give it up! I can't wait for the new puzzles! It's always fun watching your videos! ♥
To echo others, life is too short to try and complete puzzles that aren’t fun! Puzzling is supposed to be a joy and this puzzle is so clearly not that! Well done you for setting the boundary and recognizing it was time to put it down. Absolutely not a failure at all!!!! 💜🧩
Thank you!! Everyone has been so supportive in the comments. I think it shows that I am not enjoying this puzzle so I know my videos on it would not be enjoyable either. And I have some lovely puzzles to come so why waste my time on one that I am truly not enjoying.
😊 I'm glad you decided to not torture yourself with a puzzle that your not enjoying. ❤ look after yourself. Puzzles are meant to be enjoyable! Upwards and onwards to the next puzzle adventure! ❤ Happy Puzzling!
And trust me when I say that I have a love more fun and big puzzles coming to the channel. I felt so much better immediately after deciding not to continue with this puzzle. I knew it was the correct decision!
Thank you so very much for being honest & letting us know that it just was not a very well made puzzle. With times as they are at the moment honesty on quality vs. price is very, very much needed. There is no shame at all to not finish something that is causing so much stress & disappointment. I absolutely love your videos & always look forward to them. Just keep being you & putting out the honest, always fun & super informative videos that you do. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Thank you so much for your supportive comment! I just knew that I wouldn't ave fun and it would feel like "work" to keep doing this puzzle - and I never ever want to feel that way when puzzling.
Good for you. Puzzling should be fun, it should never feel like a chore (okay maybe except the initial sorting lol). Fun challenging puzzles are great but not truly unpleasant challenging and especially when it will take you so so so many hours. Spend that time doing something you love!
Exactly! I don’t mind a challenging puzzle as long as I am having fun and can see an end in sight. This was just no fun as a challenge whatsoever…and I have many more enjoyable puzzles in my to-do pile waiting for me. 💜🧩
When I saw the thumbnail (and before I realized it was your video) I thought "I hope Donnalouise threw in the towel on that Educa puzzle!" I'm so happy you decided not to torture yourself. There are too many good puzzles out there to waste your time on a bad one.
Thank you!! I don’t think any of my regular viewers are surprised by this decision. I’ve gotten nothing but love and support to not continue with it. 💜🧩
I really appreciate your commitment to your enjoyment, not just for this video but in general 🥰There are so many other puzzles out there that you can enjoy. I know quality issues can ruin the puzzling experience. 😂
I am definitely a puzzlers over a TH-camr and promised myself that I would always keep the fun in my puzzling. Many more enjoyable puzzles to come though so many more enjoyable videos to watch.
Thank you!! And this puzzle was definitely not making me happy. I have some beautiful exciting ones to do which I show in an upcoming haul - so lots of puzzling fun to come!
You have definitely made the right decision. Move on to the next enjoyable puzzle snd enjoy. Hopefully you will get some money back as I'm sure there is someone out there who will love it xx
I will try to sell it at an upcoming market and then put it online if it doesn't sell. If I can get back 1/2 my money, I'll be happy. And yes, I have a lot more enjoyable puzzles in my stash waiting for me to do!
Did you ever hear back from Educa on the fit quality issues you mentioned? Sorry it didn't work out for you but glad you decided to put joy ahead of work!
No, I never heard back from them and I messaged them through various means. I just got one of those automated responses that my message had been received and someone would be in touch - that was it. 💜🧩
Hi Donnalouise, You made the right choice, puzzles should be fun and enjoyable. Although, I was looking forward to your voice over explaining the landmarks, they are always so educational. I'm not that into art, but you made the Travel Around Art puzzle very interesting. Except for the 60,000 piece Dowdle puzzle, the newest big puzzle came out in 2019 ( Kodak 51,300 piece 27 Wonders From around the World ) that's 5 years ago, so hopefully we should be due for more big puzzles coming out soon. Keep up the great work, I really enjoy your channel, john
Thanks John! You are making good progress on your copy. I really hope that Grafika releases their next big one soon. I loved doing Travel Around Art so much. 💜🧩
Your channel name is For the Love of Puzzles if your not loving it its not staying true to yourself I'm glad you where honest w yourself and us. That there is important.
Thank you!!! And yes, I promise to always be true to myself and my puzzling experience with you all. I just knew the minute I decided to stop doing the puzzle that it was the right thing to do - it just wasn't enjoyable at all.
I completely understand!!! Sometimes you have to just realize there might not be anything gained from forcing yourself to do a puzzle you don't like. That's such a bummer though, what a huge loss.
I got some good news today though - the puzzle has sold and is moving on to hopefully someone who will enjoy it. So I have recouped some of the costs luckily. 💜🧩
As someone who has suffered quite a bit previously because of sunk-cost-fallacy (not just money "cost"), I am so happy to see people beat it and not feel like they need to suffer just a bit more then it will have been worth it. it can be so tough sometimes to get out of that, so better stop before it gets even harder! Happy for your decision!
Exactly!! I knew after 30 minutes of sorting that I was miserable and I knew I had to stop right then and there with it. I wasn't just going to make the videos for views - I make these videos because I love puzzling. They are not all winners but when I know that I won't enjoy it, why continue??? Thanks for the support.
Welcome! So pleased you found my channel. I made a promise to myself long ago that if I wasn't enjoying a puzzle, I would never force myself to finish it. 💜🧩
I don't think many will be all that surprised if they've seen the videos for the first two bags - I really wasn't enjoying it at all. I want to enjoy my puzzles and making these videos, and I just wasn't anymore.
You seem so relieved about your decision, so just have fun. Looking forward to some live videos of puzzling together, when you are ready to do as such.
Hey there, so glad you value your time and enjoyment over forcing yourself to finish something you just don't want to do. I've done a few where I've thought I should dump this, but at 2000 or 3000 I've just kept going and ended up finishing but took ages. The thing with this is that it is 42000 and you still have 30000 of those to go. That's a lot when you're just not that into doing it. Ignore any criticism for stopping. The most important thing when you invest that kind of time into something is to enjoy what you are doing. You did not fail. You made a decision to let it go and move on to something you really want to do.
Thank you!!! I am so pleased to read all these supportive comments. People have been understanding and I think they can tell that I just was not enjoying this puzzle at all. 💜🧩
I'm glad you finally said "Ciao" to this puzzle. I'm familiar with the frustration of working on a puzzle that I'm not really enjoying. My two top reasons are a blurry image and a multitude of false fits. You were trying to work with both. When I've decided to DNF a puzzle it was never even close to the size of what you were working on. Puzzling is suppose to be enjoyable with a sense of accomplishment. There are so many beautiful images out there waiting to be done, so don't be hard on yourself. I don't know how you hung in there as long as you did. Those blurry pieces would have made me quit long ago.
I wish puzzle companies would double check the resolution of the artwork before just trying to blow it up into super large puzzles. The blurriness is just making such a mess to my eyes. I'm also very glad that I said to this puzzle. It really didn't bring me any joy anymore.
My emotions come across so strong on camera - there would just be no way for me to enjoy this puzzle, make good videos for you all to watch and enjoy - it would just be fake and/or me being miserable.
Great decision. I have stopped puzzles due to poor quality and images. I couldn’t imagine doing a 42,000 puzzle with those problems. A few times I had a miss cut puzzle from very good puzzle companies. When I contacted them, they were all very gracious and generous.
Maybe if the bags were in sections of 1,000 pieces, it would be more bearable - but 6,000 is just too much to deal with so many issues. So pleased that I packed it up. So many more enjoyable puzzles out there waiting for me to do.
Having watched your previous videos of bag 1&2 and the length of time since they were posted I do not think it is a surprise to many of your viewers that you have come to this decision. Well done to coming and explaining it to us, no sense in suffering best to get it out of the way and move on. By coincidence I have just watched today the Frence couple LeGrandPuzzle finish bag 4 and that was even harder than the previous 3 bags 😢 so you have done well leaving it now. Looking forward to you and us enjoying future puzzles.
Thank you!! And knowing there are others out there doing the puzzle and making videos for you all the watch, I just felt it wasn't fun for me anymore. I wish all those that are doing are at least having fun and not forcing themselves to finish it. I have some fun puzzles coming up and I can't wait to crack them open.
You are so amazing and you bring so much joy to others through this channel. So glad you made the best choice for you. Life is too short and there are sooo many great puzzles to move on to❤
Thank you for this video. I'm glad you didn't finish it. It's okay to stop. Don't do a puzzle you don't enjoy. I've packed a few up because I hated them before the border was complete. I'm glad for this video because that lets me know that maybe Educa isn't a good puzzle brand for a large piece count and I'm glad I haven't wasted the money on one yet. Thank you for the info. :)
I’m so disappointed in Educa. I even tried messaging them several times to get their feedback but nothing - they never replied. I honestly cannot recommend Educa which is sad… 💜🧩
Don't worry about what some people will say, your the one putting the puzzle together, you have to be the one having fun. I have migraine's and certain things will trigger them, and I avoid those things, because the pain will be so bad it's not worth it. So avoid the headach for yourself. Puzzling is for your fun and enjoyment, alway do the one's you love and enjoy.💜🧩
I'm glad you aren't forcing yourself to do a puzzle you don't enjoy just because you spent a lot of money on it or for the ~*content*~ or whatever. I love the image too, so it's a shame the quality just isn't there. Hopefully you can make back a decent chunk of what you spent on it and put that toward puzzles you actually enjoy instead ❤️
Do you ever make yourself finish reading a book that you are not enjoying? Just curious... I promised myself that I would never ever do something just "for content". I'm hoping to sell it and get some money back eventually.
@@fortheloveofpuzzlesI have a couple times, but only if it was a short enough book that I was a decent chunk of the way through already. But if there's still a long way to go, then nope, not worth it!
I've quit a 500 piece Educa before due to the repetitive piece cut - cannot fathom enduring one in the thousands! I can't believe the price tag on this quality.
I know - you think they would change something so that more puzzles would sell. I can't image they have many repeat customers unless they are sold super cheap....?? 💜🧩
I’m always of the mindset that life is too short to not enjoy a jigsaw. Well done for making that decision. There are Adrian Chesterman image puzzles made by Ravensburger and Anatolian.
I am definitely going to find and Adrian Chesterman puzzle by one of those other brands and do it justice with a good video. I just wouldn't be able to make enjoyable videos with this puzzle - everyone can tell that I am just not enjoying it.
I have a hard enough time sorting a 1000 piece puzzle I cannot imagine doing 6000 blurry pieces 😭 this is my first video I've seen from you and your honesty has me interested in the rest of your content!
Welcome to my channel! I hope you find many videos to watch and enjoy. I have always promised to be honest and true on my channel. Sorry this first video was me in a bummed mood - I’m usually quite happy. Puzzle evoke strong emotions in me. 💜🧩
I noticed your struggle doing this piece, I imagined you would give it away because you don't like it. I noticed immediately when you started. I am so sorry for you. I understand this situation. Love you and I would do the same. It's ok my friend 🧡
I feel so relieved about this decision - I just wasn’t enjoying this puzzle at all. I have already sold it and it is on its way to Australia to its new home. 💜🧩
Crumbly blurry puzzles- that’s a no for me too! I’m glad you don’t force it. The more puzzling I do, the more puzzles I’ll turn away from. I have gotten spoiled and very picky based on the quality of puzzles. There are plenty of good ones to bother with the bad ones. Trefl Prime is my current favorite. Go pick a puzzle from your favorite brand and enjoy it!
Since I puzzle so much more these days, I have also gotten much more picky about which puzzles I do - and I don't want to waste my time on ones that I just am not enjoying.
Absolutely don't suffer through something that is supposed to be fun. There is a certain amount of persistence required with large puzzles - but there is certainly a limit and you have reached it! I recently did an Adrian Chesterman - it was my first 3000 piece - Anatolian Tree of life. Beautiful image - no poster though which was tricky with such a detailed image. But so many animals, I loved it!
I am definitely excited to do an Adrian Chesterman puzzle and make an enjoyable video depicting his artwork. I know Anatolian and Ravensburger both carry his artwork - I just need to find one. And yes, I think more companies should consider including a poster. 💜🧩
you do you, boo. this is a modern quote ! lol. i bet you feel relieved now you have made your decision. all is not lost ,i am sure someone would like to buy it from you. is there a possibility that you could see if the company or amazon will let you return it , say it is faulty (the print quality is bad)etc. you might be able to swap it with someone for another puzzle. sending you hugs 🙃
I felt like this big weight had been lifted off my shoulders as soon as I made this decision. It’s already been sold and shipped off finding a new home in Australia. Hugs right back at you 💜🧩
I’ve quit several puzzles for various reasons. One was made of plastic! It was a gift. Another one I was so pumped for. A Lord of the Rings puzzle that was a solid black background, and only the One Ring in the middle. Virtually every piece fit perfectly into every other piece. There were only 2 piece shapes! It was impossible to navigate. Not every puzzle is for everyone and the manufacturer has a lot to do with it. I’d say it has everything to do with it. Just because someone else did it doesn’t mean it’s for you. Let it go.
Such a shame you didn't enjoy the puzzle. Definitely a good decision to stop. With larger puzzles it's definitely up to luck. I did recently a 4000 piece Educa and it wasn't as crumbly, image quality was excellent and I only had about 3 or 4 perfect false fits which is expected in repeat cuts. Hope your next big puzzle brings you joy 😊
I wonder why companies have different cuts for their different size of jigsaw puzzles? I didn't enjoy the 6k Grafika I did but loved their 2k and 1k...?? And you had a good experience with a 4k Educa but Janette hated the 500 piece ones she did. I know quality can change over time but some consistency would be nice. Pssst...I bought my next bigger puzzle and I love love love the image. And from a brand I know I love. Will appear in my next puzzle haul so stay tuned!
Blurriness and crumbling are the reasons are preventing me to buy Garden of Delights (9000 piece puzzle) by Educa, even when not having room enough in my house for a puzzle that big is a massive problem too!
It’s truly unfortunately as they have such beautiful images but the puzzling experience is lost. I don’t understand how they can’t see the blurriness on their prints? And surely they would want to improve piece cut quality to make more sales… 💜🧩
Good for you Donnalouise for stopping this puzzle! It was obvious in the first videos that you were disappointed, and even in the intro to this one you did not seem excited. Move on to something more fulfilling for you and it will be more enjoyable for your viewers. Hoping the next Grafika is a winner, I loved Travel Around Art!
I also thought that the intro to this video I was forcing it - I tried but just didn't have the will or want to put myself through this. Fingers and toes crossed that the next Grafika is amazing!!
I completely support your decision to stop the puzzle. I'm part of a group working on the same puzzle and I quite enjoy it, so I can't help but wonder if you would have enjoyed it more working with a group to take some of the pressure off you where everyone can focus on the type of puzzling they enjoy most. I also wonder if you've been really unlucky and gotten a badly printed version, because I don't remember that many blurry parts (but maybe other people just worked on them, I don't know). Anyway, none of that is to say you should give it another chance. Good luck with your next puzzle and I hope you enjoy it more!
I do think I would have enjoyed this puzzle if I was doing it with friends. I love puzzling with people and it’s a completely different experience - even on an unpleasant puzzle. I have so many other puzzles in my to-do pile that I’m excited to do that I can’t want to get them started. I just didn’t feel the need to continue with this one. 💜🧩
I'm sad that this puzzle is not working for you. Youre right to leave the puzzle if youre not enjoying it. (I have a partially completed 9000 piece puzzle under my sofa, so i know the struggle is real. If you still wanted to do a similar smaller Chesterman puzzle, Ravensburger do two different 1000 piece puzzles - World Landmarks, and World Landmarks by Night. They are from a couple of years ago i think.
I am definitely going to get either a Ravensburger or Anatolian puzzle with Adrian's art on it and do it justice in a video. I once had a puzzle under the sofa and forgot about it...the vacuum reminded me that it was there!
I’m proud of you. You’ve encouraged me in the past to do the same thing, and I have done so with a couple puzzles. I want to learn and grow in my puzzling, but not force myself through one. I’m glad you are willing to do the same. Do you have access to eBay or a similar site? That might be a way to sell it and make some of your money back.
We don't have eBay in NZ (unless you pay a fortune for shipping) but we have something similar called TradeMe. I might pop it up there to try and sell. Shipping cost will be the big issue but I could break it up into a smaller box I'm sure. I like puzzling challenge as much as the next person, but not one that is just going to frustrate me for weeks and weeks. Thanks for the support.
I get migraines sometimes triggered by visual stimuli. I totally support your decision. I actually was a little disappointed that you were starting this one again because I personally don’t like this jigsaw puzzle as much as your other ones. Probably because you don’t like it and it comes through ha ha.
I really do think my attitude comes across very strong in my videos and when I'm not enjoying a puzzle, it shows and the video is not as enjoyable. But when I love a puzzle - it's amazing!!! This puzzles was definitely too for me to want to continue so to it! I couldn't believe how much those brown pieces were starting to affect my eyes.
If I sit at a puzzle, not making hardly any progress and just staring at the pieces for more than one day, I will quit it. I feel bad for the money I spent but that doesn't stop me from quitting it. lol Besides the very few I keep, I give them away to charity shops or a senior citizen facility so hopefully they will enjoy it.
I'm hoping that someone will want this puzzle and will enjoy it. It's just not for me. And it's not the first puzzle that I've stopped doing because I didn't enjoy it. So nice of you to donate your puzzles.
Oh Lovely! If you feel good about a decision, then it is the right decision. And if someone is criticizing you because you don’t force yourself on something that you don’t enjoy doing then they can go somewhere 😄 We are all here to support you ❤️ It is interesting to me what you said about the blurry pieces. I have never realized that although I am doing puzzles like forever 😅 To me it’s like “that is the way the picture is” haha. I still want to do this puzzle 🙈 I am looking forward to your new puzzles that you will enjoy and you made me super excited about the new Grafika giant 🤩
As soon as I had decided not to go on with this puzzle, it was like a huge weight had been lifted off of my shoulders. It felt so good tearing it down - well it fell apart really easy so it was pretty quick. 🤣🤣 I have trouble with like brushstroke (paintings) and blurry images for puzzles - my eyes just don't focus well. I am also so excited for Grafika to release their next puzzle!!!
It is okay to stop doing a puzzle. I had to stop doing my 3D jigsaw puzzle. I was getting headaches. I totally understand the issue with the eyes. I wear contacts and glasses as well. Puzzles are to be enjoyed❤️🧩
3D jigsaw puzzles are also so tricky on my eyes as well. My contacts started to dry out as I was trying to focus so hard on these blurry pieces that I wasn't blinking. More puzzling fun is to come though - and big ones as well. Thanks for the support.
I don't do blurry puzzles. I avoid them and when I discover that I have one, I give it away - usually to the local library for their annual book sale. Blurry is no fun. Let's hope puzzle companies take note and stop producing blurry puzzles. I'm glad you honored your own sense of what to do and NOT do.
Thank you! I was seriously going cross-eyed looking at this puzzle - I couldn’t do it anymore! So much love and support from everyone in the comments. 💜🧩
I know my limitations! I prefer 300 pieces puzzle that have lots of color and/or sections, completed sized must be at least 18 in x 18 in. I'll do some 500 piece puzzles if I really like the artwork and completed sized is at least 18" x 24". Any piece count higher than that have puzzle pieces that are too small for me to handle.
Some puzzle companies are making such tiny pieces and not only are they hard to see, but also to manipulate. I am enjoying XL piece puzzles - easier on eyes and hands especially with my tremors.
@@fortheloveofpuzzles I like Ravenburgers large format 500 piece puzzle but they are expensive (I only have one). Luckily, last year I won a 500 pieces large format puzzle from Ravenburgers. It was Après All Day (16442), Nancy Wernersbach, Artist
I am impressed you started the SECOND bag after the horror of that first bag! I see this as a failure on the puzzle maker's part, if you want to charge a lot of money you need to put out a quality product. I'm glad you made the decision to move forward. No point in making a fun hobby torturous!!!
I should have known right away from the start when I tried opening the box and it was falling apart. 😅😅 Why doesn’t Educa realise they have these issues and make changes?! They could sell so many more puzzles… 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles agreed 100% I actually grabbed a 500 piece Educa puzzle from a puzzle swap this wknd because it's a fun illustration of Barcelona and I travel thru my puzzles. However I do remember the one I did in the same series of Paris 2 yrs ago and how crumbly it was. But it's only 500pcs and I really like the image so I will struggle thru the crumbles.
Hi Donnalouise, thanks for sharing the videos of this puzzle. If you can’t do a puzzle than pack it up and move on to something more enjoyable. Have you tried any Ravensburger bigger puzzles? It might be better.
My largest Ravensburger was the 5k Colin Thompson Bizarre Town (collaboration videos with Vicky), my largest Clementoni was 6k Ciro Marchetti Downtown (loved that puzzle, 3 videos are published) and then the 54k Grafika Travel Around Art which is my most favourite series on the channel. I also have the 18k Ravensburger Colin Thompson still do to and just ordered a 4k one as well.
I've managed to sell it on and it is already at its new home. I broke up the first two sections in smaller 1k parts which will be easier and more fun to assemble. I wish them luck when they get to the third bag - hopefully they will enjoy it.
I congratulate you for stopping working on this puzzle! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I know what you mean about feeling like a failure, because I had the same with a couple of puzzles, especially because you did them as a video and you feel like you have some sort of responsibility to finish it. But just think of how many hours of misery you saved yourself 😂 Educa is not a good brand sorry, I suffered through 4 of their 500 piece puzzles last year and there’s no money in the world that would make me do a 6k bag with their cut! Well maybe if someone paid me 50k I’d do it 🤣 I’m happy for you! Puzzles are for us to enjoy, not suffer though 😅
Maybe if I was on a deserted island with nothing else to do 🤣🤣 I did feel like I "had" to finish it because I had started it as a series for the channel. But once I decided not to continue with it, I was so happy - like this big weight lifted off of my shoulders. I knew it was the right decision. Thanks for always being there for me Janette - love you to the moon and back
Wow! I somehow missed this post. I had been looking forward to your bag 3 video, but I completely get why you stopped. It's funny because I haven't noticed any blurriness in my copy so far, but because I mixed, maybe I just have not yet come across the pieces you found to be blurry. I also did the Educa Life puzzle and that did not have bluriness either. So that makes me wonder if it was just something weird with how your copy was made. Either way -- life is too short to dance with ugly puzzles! So I can see your relief in your decison to abort the mission and that is A-okay as there are numerous others out there to be enjoyed! Thanks for the candid video though. Much appreciated! And best of luck on your next big one. Have you ever thought of trying the NYC Window 32,000 or the 40,230 Disney one? Those are both Ravensburger so likely you would like their quality better. Both are really nice.
I do wonder if the blurriness is just due to my eyesight. There could also be something wrong with my puzzle and the image. It has now found a new home in Australia. I have the Clementoni 13k Visionaria and the Ravensburger 18k Magical Bookcase. I haven't thought about doing any others than those for now. 💜🧩
How are you finding it? I would probably manage 1,500 pieces even if crumbly. Is the image clear? I hope you are enjoying it. And yes, my sanity improved greatyl after having picked up that puzzle.
It is a little crumbly but that doesn't bother me at all. It is a clear image although I do understand the blur you referred to, those parts would appear blurred but they reflect distance in the artwork. I imagine the blur would show in the top third of each section. When it was completed standing away from it the blur would not be evident. The puzzle I am doing is also a portion in the puzzle you were doing just smaller in scale. This is my first 1500 piece puzzle so it is exciting to me. @@fortheloveofpuzzles
It’s perfectly fine to not finish a puzzle. I am with you 100% on your decision. Puzzling is supposed to be enjoyable, so I think you’ve made the best choice for you at this moment. I actually hate Educa 😂 It’s probably the worst puzzle brand in Europe 😅
I just don't understand why Educa wouldn't address at least their piece crumbly/cut/fit issue...?? Do they not know about this? I tried messaging them several times to discuss further but never heard back from them. I guess as long as they keep selling puzzles, they don't care to change this. I can't see myself buying any of their puzzle again until something changes.
I've always wondered if you or any other puzzler has found an undoable puzzle....don't feel bad...you tried...for motion sickness coke is good for that 💜🐨💛
Coke is good for motion sickness??? Interesting... I made a promise to myself that I would never ever force myself to do a puzzle if I'm truly not enjoying it. It's not worth my time and I won't be able to make an enjoyable video for you all to watch either.
You are certainly right to stop doing it. It is not something that would take just 1 or 2 hours, but many, many hours so it is really important that you enjoy it.
A friend got me a puzzle and it was probably the worst puzzle I’ve ever tried. So crumbly and blurry and I wanted to do it ... but I gave up. It was fine. I have too many good ones ... but I did want to finish ... but not enough to force myself.
oh. It would be fun if the next huge Grafika could have a nice, whimsical Josephine Wall artpiece (as part of) its image. I love doing them but they're also really satisfying to see to come together. I've done some of her artpieces in Grafika 1500 and 2000 piece puzzles, which seems to be the section size they often use. Despite the tricky and of challenging patterns and textures there were never any perfect but false fits. Actually, no false fits at all. You have the experience too, more or less. Except you did larger puzzles so I guess there's more chance for errors during production. I love that brand so now I'm really curious what that next puzzle is going to be. They're pretty good at picking fun images for (big) puzzles so it'll most likely be anywhere between good and amazing depending on if it is my type of image or not. I can tell you a bit about how Grafika puzzles have changes over the last several years, but it is mostly slightly different cardboard that feel a bit different, like the coating is different (I think it's for environmental reasons because the first coating they had seemed more sythetic and plasticy as well as thicker) and the pieces fit more loosely for the same reason. I think it's the printing/coating taht made the pieces fit tighter. But the image quality and prints are great, always crisp. I think that vintage puzzle you did was one of the few exceptions, which is a shame, but you live and you learn. Just know that it might be hard to lift larger sections of puzzle, at least it is with the 1000 piece puzzles. It's fine when you know it though. With a bit of care most of it stays together if you're like me and try to move entire 1000 piece puzzles (not the smartest, but I have ADHD so I'd rather spend the bit of time to mend the sections. They come together easily enough the second time around IMO). Anyway, I'm going to find a way to get that big puzzle if it has Josephine Wall art on it. It's probably 2k sections again anyway. It was for the other two record puzzles (based on the photos they posted and the puzzle you did). And it's a great decision to stop doing this puzzle. It's like reading a book you'r not only ambivilent about (or that you're not entirely enjoying) but that actively makes you feel like shite. Or when I play a first person game. It's just not worth it if it gives me (or you) headaches or migraines. Especially when you don't get anything from it. Please never continue a puzzle if they make you nauseous etc. Unless you think it's worth it and get good vibes or feelings from it. People should listen to their guts about this kinda stuff. What's point of continuing a puzzle/book/game/art piece/insert project in random hobby if doesn't bring you joy or at least some other kind of positive feeling as an outcome? If it doesn't it's just a waste of our short and finite amount time on this little rock in the universe. I also feel like, if I remember correctly, not that long before you tried that Grafika puzzles I was raving about the brand in the comments. And it wasn't only on this channel that I was recommending the brand. So the positive review (because that's more or less what I wrote with some pros and cons) might've helped you choose such a big puzzle so quickly and just take a leap. Even if I remember saying I'd only done 1000 piece puzzles by them at the time. I've now done a 500, 1500, and 2000 piece puzzle (if not several) by them as well. Loved the experience every time. And I love those puzzles in the background. That Ravenburger puzzle box as the whirl puzzle. Great pieces of decor. Good choices on your part.
"What's point of continuing a puzzle/book/game/art piece/insert project in random hobby if doesn't bring you joy or at least some other kind of positive feeling as an outcome? If it doesn't it's just a waste of our short and finite amount time on this little rock in the universe." Words to live by!!! Thank you so much for your continued support.
I do want to find another puzzle with Adrian's artwork on it. I doubt at this time I would buy another Educa puzzle though - just not worth my frustration. I think Ravensburger and Anatolian make puzzles with this artwork on it which would be great to do.
Yes, I a so glad you you choose to stop. I would have enjoyed watching your process, but it's not worth it to "endure" something that is supposed to be fun. Good for you!!!!
And I also don't think the videos would have been all that fun to watch - my emotions come across strongly on camera and it would have shown (and has shown in past videos).
Thank goodness you've decided to give up on that jigsaw. No point in doing it when you are not enjoying it. Life is too short to angst over a puzzle that you are struggling with. In the past I have given up on jigsaws that I just wasn't enjoying for whatever reason. Perhaps you may wish to avoid Educa and find an Adrian Chesterman that has been produced by a different company. Hopefully someone will be able to suggest one to you. I've had a quick look but not getting anywhere.
I have found out that Ravensburger and Anatolian have puzzles with Adrian's artwork on it so I'm on the look out to buy one of them. Not sure if available to buy in in NZ though...
On the one hand I hate to see you give up, but boy do I understand nausea from blurriness and not wanting to be miserable for your audience. I have two puzzles going that I'm not enjoying, but I have the option of just working on them very slowly and putting them in time out since I'm not doing videos on them. I don't know if you would consider that option since you spent so much money. God bless and see you in the next one.
I think with age I am definitely more affected but things like blurry images, lighting, colours, etc… I have always suffered from motion sickness and recently even vertigo. I have already sold the puzzle and it is currently on its was to its new home in Australia. 💜🧩
That’s so good I’m so proud and happy for you that you made that decision to stop. When it’s affecting your health. It’s time to stop. For the price you pay for that jigsaw puzzle you expect to have a picture that’s not blurry and pieces good fitting. I just stopped doing one because the picture was so blurry. The Browns and the black look the same so bad quality.
Exactly!! I can't see myself buying another Educa puzzle anytime soon. And I promised myself that I would never force myself to finish a puzzle that I am not enjoying, especially not one with 42k pieces! Let's say to blurry images on puzzles!
I was able to sell it and funny thing, I just got an update from the buyer today with their progress. False fits in the sky are a problem for sure but they are plugging along nicely and have four bags done. 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles looking forward to it!
I think you made a good decision. Puzzling should bring you joy.
Agreed! Thank you so the support.
You did the right thing. I have stopped puzzles for the same reasons. Puzzling is meant to be enjoyable. Happy puzzling.
Thank you!!! I was worried many people would be disappointed but I should have known that you are all so supportive.
Good for you! Take care. ❤️🧩
Thank you!!
I am with you 100% on your decision. We watch to see you enjoy making puzzles. This also in a weird way gives us permission not to suffer for a hobby. Thank you.
Exactly - puzzling is suppose to be fun, not torturous. And this was becoming more of a chore and not enjoyable. Thanks for the support.
Girl, you didn't fail. They failed making a good quality, clearly printed puzzle.
So true!!! 💜🧩
Thanks for the honest review!
Good for you for being honest and just moving on. Don’t ever feel you need to go through something so unenjoyable just for us. 😊
Thank you! Everyone has been so supportive
@@MrFiddler1959 We do have Galison - maybe not a large selection and they can be quite pricey. 💜🧩
Agree! I have plenty of fun puzzles that are waiting for me! Thanks for being an amazing teammate!
Puzzles should be enjoyable, Full stop.

Absolutely, there are so many puzzles you can do, and enjoy them! It's a hobby after all, and we would much rather see you happy :)
Thank you!! And this puzzle was definitely not making me happy. I have some beautiful exciting ones to do which I show in an upcoming haul - so lots of puzzling fun to come!

Thank you for helping me make the decision to not complete the current jigsaw puzzle I am working on. 😂
You are welcome! 😂😂 Never force yourself to do a puzzle you are not enjoying.

Thanks Karolina! It means a lot to me all these lovely supportive comments.
You seem so relieved about your decision, so just have fun. Looking forward to some live videos of puzzling together, when you are ready to do as such.
It was the right decision and I knew it as soon as I decided to stop with this puzzle. I plan on my next livestream to be in February.
Thank you so much for being honest. I totally agree with you. Puzzling needs to be enjoyed not stressed.
Thank you and everyone else so all the support. 💜🧩
You do you! I know I would much prefer to see you build a puzzle you love! 💕

Puzzling is for your fun and enjoyment, alway do the one's you love and enjoy.💜🧩
Thank you so much for your lovely and supportive comment. Everyone has actually been so supportive and it means so much to me!
No criticism! Life is too short, you should have fun! 🎉❤
Everyone has been so supportive! It's been great!
Você tomou a decisão certa, quebra cabeça é para divertir e não estressar! Deixa de lado. Vamos para outro mais divertido!!! Abraços, fica bem!!
Obrigado!!! E abraços para você também. xxx
1500 pieces is my max! I prefer 1000 pieces because I want an other puzzle pretty quick. I’ve stopped puzzles because of endless blue skies.
1500 is a nice size - I wish more brands offered more in this size. Endless blue skies..ugh…I feel you! Looks done enough to me
Good decision, puzzles are meant to be fun!!
Exactly - and this was far from being fun anymore. 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles nothing to be sorry about, I found it refreshing! 💞
That was a wise decision, I understand completely. ❤️ Happy new year Donnalouise, I wish you many fun puzzles this year! 😁❤️
Thank you Vesna! Happy New Year and Happy Puzzling to you also.
Agreed. No fun doing a badly made puzzle. Great channel.
Thank you so much!! 💜🧩
Hugs right back at you 💜🧩
That is brilliant news! 😊
Let it go.
It felt so good to let this puzzle go! 💜🧩
@@fortheloveofpuzzles That's great news. Can't wait
If you wanted help, I do have each section with close up photos of piece shapes.
Thanks but I already tore the puzzle down and packaged it up. I just wasn't enjoying it.
@@jmason1770 I've done that one as well - really lovely. They are pretty pricey...but at least they are of quality!
You are correct; you did not fail. It's a shame you paid that much for such a low-quality puzzle. Good for you for moving on!
It is good you stopped for your own sanity. I am doing a 1500 piece Educa at the moment called Asia Landmarks.
No disappointment here! Rather you actually enjoy what you are doing, and not trudge through!
Thank you!!! Everyone is being so supportive and it means a lot to me.
Thank you! The thought of having to suffer through 100s of hours to finish off this entire puzzle was just no longer appealing to me.
I know this feeling as a beginner 😂😂😂😂
I'm glad it's not just me 💜🧩
We understand the feeling 😵💫😵💫😵💫
Thank you! Seriously, I felt like the biggest weight had been lifted off of my shoulders after deciding to no longer continue with this puzzle. 💜🧩
A friend got me a puzzle and it was probably the worst puzzle I’ve ever tried. So crumbly and blurry and I wanted to do it ... but I gave up. It was fine. I have too many good ones ... but I did want to finish ... but not enough to force myself.
I do wonder if some puzzle companies don't first build the puzzle before they consider mass producing and printing them. It would so be worth it! 💜🧩
Would you consider doing the mini versions of this puzzle (2x 1500 and 1x 2,000)?
I do want to find another puzzle with Adrian's artwork on it. I doubt at this time I would buy another Educa puzzle though - just not worth my frustration. I think Ravensburger and Anatolian make puzzles with this artwork on it which would be great to do.
Yes, I a so glad you you choose to stop. I would have enjoyed watching your process, but it's not worth it to "endure" something that is supposed to be fun. Good for you!!!!
And I also don't think the videos would have been all that fun to watch - my emotions come across strongly on camera and it would have shown (and has shown in past videos).
There is a guy on TH-cam who mixed all the bags together and is about half done this right now
Thank goodness you've decided to give up on that jigsaw.
I would have been done with it after the fist bag... 🙈 Respect to you, for going so far with it! 🧡🧩
Thanks!!! I did want to give up after that first bag...
@@fortheloveofpuzzles been there, done that with vertigo, too. Glad you found a new home for it already. God bless.
Let's say to blurry images on puzzles!
poor you! i think puzzeling is for fun. If you are not happy DONT do it. Sell it! (ask the next person if he/she will apprentice the done parts 😂.)
I was able to sell it and funny thing, I just got an update from the buyer today with their progress. False fits in the sky are a problem for sure but they are plugging along nicely and have four bags done. 💜🧩
