My PB back in university was around 53 indoors as a guy - although I ran longer distances in meets. I know just how much training it takes these women to go under 50, it's nearly impossible to put it all together, everything has to go right for a long period of time.
It s Awesome that she is running indoors. She keeps her momentum and nothing beats the actual competition. You can train all you want, still the actual competition is where the rubber meets the road. Everything for when and how much elytes to drink, how much sleep to get, how much and when to eat, you can not duplicate on training when you can do any of those things when you want to and you can stop when you want to. Also, she keeps on inspiring myself and all of the her fans year long with her competing indoor and outdoor. I don't want to see replays of last year. Tks Femke
@@user-vk5ws3jl1l Yes but stride length alone does not mean much. You might increase your stride length but this might reduce your cadence or even lead you to overstriding which in total will make you slower. So its the whole motion chain you want to improve not only stride length.

But also look at Shelly Ann Fraser... being only 1.52 m... and she still dominated. Anyhow it is very good to invest in your technique also from an injury prevention point of view. Happy running!

She's 4 tenths off of her world record. Under 50 seconds indoors is blazing fast especially for her first 400m of the season. Literally no one's doing this. That world record she broke last year was 40 years old.
Yeah its a possibility. Next week running a mid 49s then week after that attacking her WR on Nationals Indoor final to a 49.1 possible and who knows super crazy 48.9x.

I am soooo looking forward to nearly every women's track event. This is the real golden age of women's track (the 80's Soviet and East Bloc doping era doesn't count in my book). Sydney McLaughlin and Femke Bol: the two best 400m hurdlers of all time. Will they stay with the hurdles, or attempt the 400 also? And in the 400 we can't rule out Shaune Miller-Uibo, but she was pregnant most of 2022 and gave birth almost a year ago. How has that affected her? And finally there's Salwa Eid Naser, who's run the third fastest of all time (and the fastest of all if you discount the Soviet cheating), but she herself was banned for two years for missing drug tests, and is coming back. It's all exciting.

It has been a while since they faced each other. It is a matchup that many of us eagerly anticipate. You seem sure of the outcome but you may be surprised. Sydney is currently and rightly considered the GOAT but Bambi should not be underestimated- she is gaining.
Bol holds the 400m world record indoors. McLaughlin has the 400m outdoors one. You can't compare the two. They're different records for a reason. Also, Bol was up and coming and has only gotten better since the last time the competed directly. Nobody knows what McLaughlin's form is as she hasn't competed in a year.

The height advantage and stride length certainly plays an important role. Im learning to improve my time with bigger stride.
