Hey, I’m 72 and still living alone in the woods! None of us knows what is ahead. However I am in complete accord with your philosophy of simple systems. The less you have to maintain, the easier your workload.
How big is your home? A big home is a burden as we get older. My wife and I downsized to an energy efficient home with no stairs. We are in our 70s. We have all the modern conveniences.
Worked my whole life. Now? Aching back, arthritis, and faded dreams. I wish I had taken off when I wanted to, instead of staying in the normal feed of the United Slaves of America.
Being alone in the remote area for an intelligent individual like yourself is not loneliness nor expressed in any other depressing words. It is actually a blessing. I believe in at the end of your life, you want to be able to say that “I’ve been there and done that. It has been a beautiful life.”
Very well said friend. I think I might do well in that situation, as far as being lonely. I'm A introvert, and don't require to have a whole bunch of people around me.
People are not meat to live life alone. Find somebody to share your life with. Then you can say. I had a great life, would do it all over again. The exact same way!! Good luck. Stay with God. And enjoy. Wish I had the same chance!!!
I’m 67 years old and I went through a period feeling sorry for myself because I was all alone, some days I couldn’t even get out of bed and one day I said it’s not loneliness, it’s independence 😃, that day everything changed, it was all in my head 😆
At 74+ disabled and alone. Divorced 24 years rarely hear from 1 of my 4 children zip from the three that are within 150 miles. Only a couple of long time friends who haven't died. One very ill. Difficult some days. However I get by. To you, Best.
My mom went in for a scan and three weeks later she was dead of cancer that was everywhere in her body. It was in her brain before I could say goodbye. She had so many unfulfilled dreams and accepted a subpar (abusive) marriage. She was 69. It lit a fire under me. Even if you don’t live forever in your cabin, you DID. At least you got to and you have done amazing work.

Unfortunately, fear of aging grips a lot of people. In the US, your born, raise a family, get old and then go to a nursing home. That's not the way it is for most of the world. Elderly people are an important part of society in other cultures, and they can still work circles around most people in the US. Their knowledge and skills are handed down from generation to generation.
Modern conveniences make for a lazy people! I am a 53 yo single female in almost remote South Dakota with an eleven year old, dog, cat, and a rabbit ranch. We grow our own food including medicinal herbs, chop wood, tend to the animals, the list goes on and on. If i let my mind wander, I'll sometimes catch myself wondering about growing old alone and being helpless. Then I remember that I'm in very good shape for my age, have a young heart, a love of learning, and an unyielding determination to get what I want! And of most importance, all we have is today. Not sure about yall, but I'm not going to let what ifs steal my time away. Follow your heart, chase your dreams, and let the good Lord take care of the rest.
Living alone has its benefits! You will be doing what you do for years because you love your lifestyle. I, too, live in a log home in the forests of Pennsylvania, and would choose no other place. At 80, I am still able to take care of everything inside and out. I believe that is what keeps us going, and enjoying the way we live. It isn’t for everybody, but that’s okay….it’s for us!! Keep on keeping on, Alone!! 👍 Love from Pennsylvania 💕🌷🐻
As a off grider my self at 74 i cannot imagine ever going back to civilization. I hate going to town for anything and the local town is small and friendly where they call you by name at all of the business patronize. Absolutely love it. But I can't wait to get home.
IF you stay in shape, uninjured and healthy, do it. Enjoy your life & animals. My grandmother did it until she was 104 yrs old. You CAN do it, but do you WANT to do it.
I went off grid knowing or believing it could be a disaster and could always go back to civilization. Now there doesn't seem to be anything worth returning to, this is home.
Brenda here, I am so glad you made this video. There are those of us who enjoy living different, using wood stoves for heat and living in nature. Alone, your channel is so good and well thought out with humor. We truly look forward to Fridays with you. Stay safe, healthy and good blessings to you both.
I am glad you are living your dream..on your terms. Your lifestyle will keep you fit and healthy! Take it a day at a time and please continue to share with us!❤
I admire your lifestyle. I live in a van and often get the question, “where will you live when you can no longer live in the van”? I just tell them I’ll make that decision should I have to when I need to. I’m 73 and going strong but who knows what tomorrow, or the next minute will bring. I love my lifestyle! Keep on doing you and thank-you for sharing.
When you are as now, young and healthy you make plans to be able to stay in your cabin as you age. Ways to make your everyday chores easier. Every year we make improvements to do just that. Take care of your medical, dental and mental health. You are doing something that so many people dream of yet never do. My niece was a hospice nurse and she told me that the one thing her patients regretted the most was spending too much time at work and not enough time doing enjoyable things.
The first home I lived in was a dry log with electricity . One outlet and one light bulb in Central Alaska off a generator . Loved it !!! What I had noticed about others that wanted my lifestyle , was most folks ran ran out of things to do in a year or so . Next thing , they left everything and moved back to the lower 48 . What prepared me for that freedom was spending years in Antarctica living in a tent . Keep doing what ever you want there . Don't worry about getting old either . Cheers on you !!!!
Tell us about the stockpiles you had to set in over the winter in your tent . . as access was cut off for 6 months . . or did you hunt the wildlife in the howling blizzards
@benwinter2420 Always some jealous people like yourself . They were called " James way tents from the Korean War Era. Our supplies were located in the Dome along with our communications , library , mess hall , etc . At a very remote South Pole , Antarctica . A year on then 2 weeks off then right back again . Good way to save money . Anything else ??
@@benwinter2420 Absolutely no wildlife in the interior of that horrid continent with the exception of an occasional " Skua " that would follow a Herc over 900 miles because of the food it smelled immediately surcoming to death when it landed . Anything else boy ??
Hi im 64 and from the UK,but have lived in Turkey for 8yrs and the views here are very much like the views you have,,minus the snow,,winter rains mainly,İ walk many miles ,in the hills and mountains which keeps me fit,Sadly i lost my wife of 40yrs in Aug ,and i know she would not want me to sink into lonliness and sadness,so i have come to terms with things on that score,,i get up when i want and go to bed when i want,,When i was working i lived by the clock, now i dont even know what day it is,it does not matter,i admire your way of life,i really do,you have my sub.
I already did what you are now doing. I lived it for many years but when I got older and started having health issues than I had to move to town. It's a little town but has a hospital and doctors and drug stores etc... I asked the doctor if that is what happens, we get old and sell and move to town. You will see if you get issues with your health. But maybe you will stay healthy and strong and it won't be an issue. I love my little town too and it's so convenient
You aren't alone. You have your channel and people who enjoy watching it. You are doing what you love. So many of us lived life working at jobs we hate and never getting to do what we wanted to do. Then when you finally reach that opportunity, it's too late because you've abused your body working a job that gave you arthritis and a multitude of health issues.
You have a won't mind set. We introverts are rarely lonely. We like ourselves, rely on ourselves, find things to do or do nothing at all😊. You are living your life on your terms. And if or when the time comes that you can no longer care for yourself, you are strong enough to realize it and accept the next faze. What ever life brings to your door step you will accept. Take care young lady and God bless💕💕
There are many older people that live alone, there is no reason why you cannot go on as you are, as you say, do not let other people dictate your what you do, and you love doing what you do....! If you are mentally healthy you can go on for very, very long!! Doing what you do every day keeps your body healthy,so 'go girl,go...!!!❤
Your Grandma looks just like you! I was thinking as I was watching your videos - I'm lonely since my husband has passed away. And living alone like you do, I thought about if you were lonely. And I came to realize you had an outlet - you have youtube and so someone to share your life with. And as I listened to this video you confirmed that was true. I live an hour from the nearest town in either direction and I am concerned about if I get sick or need help. My dreams have past me by, I am now 72. The lifestyle you live is very similar to my dreams. I grew up in Alaska on a 5 acre homestead. My parents got the land through the homesteading act. We packed water from a spring. We didn't have electricity or a phone for a good portion of my childhood. We washed our clothes outside with a wringer washer and hung the clothes on a line. I love those memories of my childhood. I was glad to hear you say you are putting things in place to continue your chosen lifestyle so you can continue after you get old.
I believe living an active lifestyle keeps you younger and healthier. I have been a widow for almost ten years and have no desire to remarry and though I don’t live as remote as you I did buy a small house in the Sierra Nevada mountains. I have a fireplace and love chopping wood and the outdoor life. I’m 67 years old. I also experienced medical issues last year and had a small community who helped me. I broke my wrist and had to be taken to a hospital and have my gallbladder removed. Hospital was 90 minutes away. But I live a pretty healthy lifestyle here and recovered quickly.
🎄 Im 71 and have lived alone for 15 years. I’m very much an introvert and never do I get lonely. I can honestly say I do worry a little a bout getting really sick alone, but I certainly try not to dwell on it.
You are such a good woman. You display such integrity. It took years to decide to act on your dreams. Your dream was not whimsical. You soul searched and when the time was right you acted on your dream. You are strong and connected to your soul. You know who you are. Most people never discover who they really are. I admire and respect you for all these virtues. It is what it is. No regrets. Tomorrow is too far away to muddle your daily life. You live in the moment. No past, no future, just today. Thats the way we all should live. You logically plan for your current needs based on your finances. You are in many ways my hero. From one woman to another. God bless you and keep you safe, strong and happy.
I’m am a woman of a certain age. And I love being alone. I have had love and children and family and it’s wonderful. But I am absolutely ok with on my own.
Sweetie, you will be doing this well into your 90s. There is nothing to be worried about. Just ensure, you maximise the daylight exposure to keep your body and brain healthy. There is huge admiration for doing the things you really love. We get to live one life on this earth and many are not living the life they wanted not out of choice but out of circumstance. Enjoy your being. Blessings....😊
Hi I’m watch from urban Manchester UK and couldn’t physically manage your lifestyle but hugely admire your independence and skill set, and survival instincts xx Debbie, Manchester 🇬🇧
i do NOT see you as old. NEVER. I suppose you may be tired. Maybe not getting enough accomplished? But old? YOU set that bar. YOU work for the goals YOU set. What you have done so far is immensely impressive. And you love it. How could you see yourself turning back? I dont see it. We dont see it. Sit down, rewrite your goals and a plan. Go forward. The rest of your life is ahead of you. The rear view mirror is small for a reason.
I have to go fetch and make firewood today. We have the same sled, and there's snow on the ground. Pulling that sled is SO much easier if you get your dog to pull it for you! Just get an X-back harness and a pocketful of kibbles or treats and you're good to go ;) Start with just one or two sticks, and with each trip increase the load by a stick or two until your dog is up to a full load ;)
I am 67 and just finally made it back to Alaska. I lived here due to the military 43 years ago. My cabin is completely off grid. I haul my water, use a generator to charge my generator, and have an outhouse. I did have a bad fall, so for 4 weeks, I did have to ask for some help to lift my propane tanks and fuel cans to refill them once. Otherwise, you do what you have to do every day. I still brought in 2 loads of wood everyday, filled the generator and charged my batteries , melted snow, and then strained it through a cheese cloth for doing my dishes. I feel like you, I absolutely love this life. But I also know for my first winter if I didn't have Adam and Phyllis as neighbors, getting down my road would have been difficult. So I am not as remote as you, but I really do love living this lifestyle. I have lost 20 pounds since I moved here in April. I keep busy here, and like you said, it is better for my overall health. I couldn't agree with you more on everything you've said.
I've been continually impressed by your journey and have been watching almost since you started this adventure. You're an inspiration and I'm so happy your channel has grown and continues to grow. Keep doing you.
Fun episode! Questions I’m sure we all ponder… I mean I’m very much a loner, but to be sooooo remote would not good for me. Clearly, you do like the isolation, and all power to you for living the life that makes you happy! I really enjoy your videos and admire your courage and determination. Thank you for sharing your life with us all! ❤
You summed it up well! I answered the call of Alaska in a different way. It did help to keep me young and in good health. You are organized and focused. Love your attitude and channel!
Hello Alone I am with you on all of this. My mama lived to be 82 living out in the country by herself before she passed. A wood stove firewood she never complained or listened to others. Daddy passed a couple of years back but mama kept going strong. She would go to Costco once a month to get her haul of groceries and lumber yard for her nails and lumber fixing. She knew it had to be done. I admire you Alone. Take care and good seeing all your videos. ❤
I grew up on a semi self sufficient small farm in the late 60's, early 70's. Yes we had a well but no running water to the house. Outhouse. Smokehouse, root cellar. Wood stove. L.P. stove, fridge and freezers. An orchard of different fruit trees. A huge garden every year. I guess I am writing this to say that sometimes a simpler life can be the most rewarding. Physically I couldn't live that way now, but I have a deep respect for those that can. I know the effort it takes to be self sufficient and to know your own heart and how you want to live your life, regardless of age, is a blessing many can only dream of.
OK.....great Northern Exposure reference! I'm a huge fan of the show and made it out to Roslyn, WA this year for Moosefest. You are living the Alaskan dream!
I have no problem "roughing it" in my off-grid property. I own it. I get to work from home for myself, and I suffered through years of corporate America to build up my SS--enough I could live off of in a worst case scenario. If you own your own home, have no debt, own a good vehicle, have money invested/saved, you'll be fine. To me, it's a luxurious lifestyle. Good on you.
I have lived in Alaska for 45 years, and I have lived not off the system. We had electricity, but for heat, wood was the primary source, with fuel oil for backup. We lived 15 miles outside of Palmer, Alaska-Twin Peaks Subdivision. Life there was not easy, but you know, it is much more complex than what I had for 12 years living at mile three on the Palmer Alternate Highway. Buy your 10+ cords of firewood to get you through the brutal winters from 1986 to 1998. You live that way; there is no way for me to live that way again; natural gas is the way to go. I lived in Fairbanks and North Pole, Alaska as well. Age 73.
You're living my dream sweetie. Yes you must plan ahead and you're doing a good job of that. You're going to be fine so quit worrying so much and enjoy everyday. When the day comes for you to leave you will know.
I will turn 66 in a couple days. Being off grid for me is walking away from stress that is unnecessary. When my neighbors loose power, I dont even notice. I decided a long time ago that I didnt want to play that game. I realized what is necessary and what is not. That leaves alot of creative room in my mind. I always love camping with the family, I never wanted to go home now I am home. Wouldnt trade it, unless I found something better. I just havent seen it and cant imagine it, not yet!
Buying a tractor……I have had 6 over my life time, the learning curve ended up that buying used is the way to go, look for a diesel, preferably mid range 40 horsepower, 4 wheel drive only, a front loader is a must and a blade for the rear. Maintenance is not a big deal you easily can do that yourself…….but a storage shed heated, a flatbed trailer and diesel storage are must haves. You mentioned buying new and having warranty, and service….a good used kabota as an example needs very little maintenance and those you can do those yourself checking fluids changing oil hooking up implements etc. myself stay away from American made overpriced junk. I think most people make the mistake of buying a tractor less then 40 horsepower and sadly discover they have a great toy tractor that is not up to the job and experience buyers remorse.
For starters, try a long handled grain scoop for shoveling snow. Next, consider a nice garage, it doesn’t even have to be heated. Not having to clean snow off a vehicle is a huge plus.
I am older now, and my three retreats together is a forty years adventure, hard yes, questions about doing this always….BUT learn to make lemonade as they say, when in Colorado I had to have 4 wheel drive, needed a snow plow for a 5 mile secondary road access and my own driveway was 1500’ long ……so I bought a high dollar snow plow for a one ton pickup when plowing my driveway people started to ask how much to plow theirs…guess what in two seasons I had 20 driveways on account either by the snow or by the season, I ended buying another plow and truck and I enjoyed plowing, sometimes it would start in the evening and continue all night and if the snows were frequent I enjoyed a very very decent income. Again you become your own ship captain and the truth will set you free. I may older and would not consider doing what you are doing now, but trust me you will look back on those “efforts” as joyful and warm memories. ❤
18:54 I'm going to call you Annie, because Your way of life reminds me of Annie Oakley. I'm sure you may remember her. I want you to know, you inspire me and I respect you and admire your courage, your independence, strength and your capabilities and intelligence. Never sell yourself out. You do you as long as your happy and able to live your life long dream. There is things I cant do now, physically. But I will stay true to me as long as I live. I wish I would have done what you're doing. I am also an introvert. And being in crowds or even a few people is really not my thing. I've worked my whole life and hated to be in and around people. Even in school, I had few friends. Even before I ever started school, I was always a loner. Always. I believe in you and what and who you are. And I believe you will or would know when you can or can't do things differently. Stay true to you. Sorry this is so long, but I admire and respect you more than you could ever know. You are an inspiration to young women, girls, and older women. Have a great Holiday season, stay safe, warm and happy. I hope you read this and maybe respond. Stay well, Annie. BTW, I turned 70 in October.
Greetings from Fairbanks. Been here 5 years....I'm living vicariously thru the off grid folks. It's never too late to get a handyman for companionship and labor.
My husband asks a legit question, would people question you as much if you were a guy? Unlikely. I admit I wonder about your well being, but it is your life to live. I admire what you're doing. It's a wholesome, worthy life.
Live in Talkeetna. 5 yrs, this June on my property. Slow, slow progress but moving forward. Now 64, always had in my mind how to make this my forever home. Got plans, that are extremely " old school " that will make my life easier as I get older, just like you. Your videos incourage me to go on, even w/ chronic pain. Mind over matter; heart over mind is what gets me through the roughest times. Probably my favorite video of yours . You made me stop & think, reset a few trails, lol; & realize to enjoy the journey more ! 😊 Thank you for your conversation with us today ! ❤ it !!
Appreciated hearing your thoughts on aging and your future. I live alone rurally and feel the same. You are so creative! Hope you are enjoying your beautiful bathroom. And always look forward to seeing Kenai ❤ in your videos.
I wouldn’t trade what you’re doing for anything. Been trying to get my wife to move up to the Canadian border area for a few years now and I keep getting push back. I’ve got family up there and they love it there. Pretty soon my realtor up north is going to find the log cabin I’m looking for and I’m going to tell wifey I’ll be back on the holidays. Maybe.
I am in awe at those who are so doubtful towards you and what your future holds. I enjoy watching you fulfill your dreams. So many of us got caught up in the rat race, but you broke free and it's confusing to people. It's sad and funny at the same time. What future do your doubters have? No one knows what our futures hold. I am so proud of you and of your family for not making you feel guilty for deciding to live your dreams! Some of us definitely march to a different drummer....and that is a wonderful thing! Love from Tennessee!
Aging is different for everyone. Living off grid keeps some strong and mobile while it becomes too much for others. I think we have to adjust accordingly along the way and I believe the tiny house movement is great for many seniors🤠🤠
Over 30,000 people live in dry cabins year round in Alaska. It's definitely not for the faint of heart, especially after the initial romance wears off.
Undertaking one's dreams is the value of life they have chosen to live !!!! Happiness is what one makes out of life. Loneliness is something that one can only decide 😊!!!
I truly believe you keep in shape doing what you’re doing and I’m so happy for you… may our Father continue to bless you and that cute fur baby of yours 😊
I live near Charlotte NC. I spent a lot of time doing mission work in Africa & India. I'm 65. Live near my adult successful kids. I have recently had a severe back injury and some serious health issues. Having support is important. Build support around you, enjoy life to the fullest.
Ok, I really enjoyed the short film in there :) - One thing I will suggest for the future short films is to look up the 180 degree rule and try to follow it. It will help the viewer understand where the 2 people are in the room at all times. (Not a criticism). I thought it was awesome and your next one can be “awesomer” :)
Thank you for sharing, you have done a wonderful job with everything you have done. Your daughter looks just like you. You are working towards keeping your needs to maintain your lifestyle well into your golden years. I you are having fun, happy and meeting your needs, you are doing well. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Totally agree with you!! I did all sorts of things, lived in England, lots of adventures. Then I couldn't for years. I say do it as long as you can but. 'Do it smart' Get strong and healthy.
As we get older the fight for life gets easier in my opinion. We have already learned what works for us and the fight only stops, when we stop. Our beliefs within ourselves is the strengths we build to believe in only ourselves. The most important person in your life should always be you because, you're the only one that can truly make you happy. Stay the Sunshine that you ✨️ are.
lol great video Alone. We get that question all the time about what will happen when we get a little older. Makes me giggle and then want to go get some dye for my beard. Dang white beard makes me look older. ;-)
Oh Alone, This was just a VERY beautiful video, and I'm SO Happy that you put it out here! I'm also an Alaskan and though I'm not living remote, off grid, people do need to understand that Alaska is NOT for the weak, faint of heart, OR for those who wanna move here and try to live the way they did in the Lower48. #IYKYK😉 I LOVE the story of your Grandma.. It's all just very true! Keep on living your Life, your way and we already know that there just no way to make everybody Happy. We must live our own life, dream and be content in and with our choices. The Future Teller parody was sooooo funny! Happy Weekend to you and Kenai...and as always, Stay BLESSED.🙌♥️✝️🎄❄️
Stay true to yourself, Alone... you know what truly makes you happy and that drive will keep you young. That peace you just feel when you step outside reduces your stress by several degrees. Every doctor around will tell you that stress is the number one killer. Living in a place that brings you joy and happiness adds years to your life. The exercise you do each day just in the course of your regular daily routine keeps you fit and adds years to your life. The healthy diet of more natural, organic foods and very little fast food is adding years to your life. The air you breath, the water you drink even your doing your own laundry with your own detergent is reducing the amount of toxins that you are exposed to and thereby increasing your life span. There is no way any of us can know what is in store for us in our future but you have done more to prepare yourself for a safe and healthy future than most. We're all rooting for you!
I had to go to 1 to 3 gallons and refill 6 or 7 gal containers. Cant carry those anymore. At 73 i adapt to ways i can do things. Smaller loads ,more trips to carry (wood). I would live in that bathroom. Its right up my ally. Ive got one very large bathroom that you certainly gav me the idea to do something with. Dont think its quite as large as yours but is big!!!!!Grandma was very pretty and looked great on the motorcycle!!!!!
Don’t know why it posted twice. Thank you thank you for answering the questions that have been like the elephant in the room! I always thought you probably felt the way you do about your life what with the solitude (bliss) and independence. I do like what you said near the end about setting in place things/systems in preparation for when you do get older. Very wise on your part. Now I love your videos even more! I look forward to more of seeing what new project you’re gonna do or even a quiet day in the life of type video. Thank you for sharing beautiful you with us!
I’m glad you found what you love doing. I’ve raised my family but the scary part for me is not really knowing what I want to do. I know I don’t want to grow old watching Netflix like my friends. Sometimes I would like to live off grid and other times I dream of travelling. I know I don’t want to work a day past my retirement in a couple of years.
Awesome discussion. Personal integrity at a very high level. Many elements you address are my own... including my own search for satisfaction in life. Thank you.
I do admire your tenacity. While i love slowing down a bit in winter, i realize that making and hauling firewood may not be in my future. 78 and pushing 80 there are things ive had to give up. While i appreciate my alone time a cup out at the coffee shop is almost a daily necessity.
I have been following your channel since it started, intermittently, finally caught up again. I think you explain your motivations very well, and I think your observations on the inconvenience of modern conveniences were very well made. You don’t need gym membership when everyday life is a workout. Your life interests me probably because I share some of your thoughts and values.
Hi Alone and Kenai 👋🥰 It’s good to see you. And I love our chats via videos lol. Great video as always. You will be fine there. The only thing I would change as I aged if I were you would be having a sled and that I could pull stuff around such as wood or tools needed to go out and do things away from the cabin during winter. Then as you age further maybe get a snow machine to pull the sled. I’m 63 and live in the country and what I did about 6 years ago was get a gorilla wagon that I could pull stuff around such as gardening things or moving rocks or tools and etc around my property. We also have a riding lawn mower (which you would never need) but we can attach the wagon to it if we need to pull something very heavy from one place to another. So I’m thinking other than that you should be fine. Much love to you and Kenai, take care and God Bless 🙏🥰🫶
Hi, this has been on my mind since turning 67. This is my life and I want to live this way for as long as possible. James and I have talked about how we can make things easier for us as we age. But living in town is not it. Great video. I love that you are living your best life right now. 🌷🇨🇦💖
Love your videos! I would also like to move off grid! I have a suggestion for your tub filling system screw a barb into the valve on your water heating vessel attach a piece of hose like what you took off your 55 gal barrel long enough to reach the tub open the valve and your set.
Hi ALONE! SO good to see you, thank you for another great video! So glad you covered this topic in this video. Reality is, we simply do not know and will not know what tomorrow brings. Anything and everything can drastically change in an instant. And aging certainly adds to the reality of those odds for both the expected and especially the unexpected - for accidents, especially falls, physical overall health decline, bone and muscle loss, bone fractures and breaks, rotator cuff tears, sprains, hip and knee replacement - to diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, dementia, and cancer to name a few. The reality is these are greatly higher risks as we age. And while there are some ( far fewer than more truth be told) that can and do live alone to do it all - after the age of 75 years, most do accept the reality of the physicsl tasks required and do return to modern living with their family or go back to conveniences in locations where hospitals, doctors, shopping, and even long term care is available. And it stands to reason. Very few elderly women who are completely alone remain off grid until they die or at 80 years or older. Even in Alaska and especially in Alaska. We certainly have physical limitations as we age that must be considered and accepted. And well planned out in advance. Because it's coming whether we like it or not. The bright side is you lived your dream, however long it lasts.
I hate going over the mountain to Denver. I would never live there. You did good, my friend lives in Castle Rock. I dred that drive to see her. It's only 300 miles, but the traffic is horrible.
Famous cartoon fish said: when life gets you down. , you know what u gotta do? 🎶 Just keep swimming , just keep swimming 🎶 🐟 prayers from Texas. Thanks for that Mountain View. Amazing.
You are amazing! im always in awe of what you accomplish..we too live pretty far out in the country..is it wilderness...yes for me since i grew up in a city and now we have deer and coyotes and cougar and bobcats and gorgeous mountain views and our dogs are free and ...yes....im still in awe as you achieve these building projects that to me are inspiring...i do do things and my husband does too....youre living your best life ~~~!!!
Hey, I’m 72 and still living alone in the woods! None of us knows what is ahead. However I am in complete accord with your philosophy of simple systems. The less you have to maintain, the easier your workload.
Pic does not look like 72.
Stairs keep you young🙂
@@DonFonzarelli-uq9yx Nobody thinks I am!!! Genetically blessed. Grandma was youthful at 94.

We might have taken individualism a bit too far when it comes to the family unit living together multigenerationally.

I'm exactly the same Jeff and I'm 74 as well! Folks who don't get it, don't understand!
IT’S….CALLED,…MENTAL-ILLNESS !..You’re not,ALL “there”,..get help !…feel sorry for you ! !
Take it a day at a time and please continue to share with us!❤
Not necessarily.

The more you keep working and moving the longer you will live a healthy life. Living rurally has been proven to be best for longevity.
ok I believe you but I dont. Im getting old, we work all the time on our land and it HURTS BAD.
Where there's a will, there's a way!
Bravo! 🎉

I am 74 living alone off grid Australia. It is challenging at times. You are blessed, don't think twice about what others want or think. ❤️

OMG the VIEW!......i envy you!...stick with the doggie.....best friend ever!
I have an uncle, that I never met, who retired in his late 60s and moved to Alaska and built his home alone and is off grid. He's 84 and still at it.
I lived in Alaska 37 years, now in northern Arizona. I'm so happy to be out of those winters...
You went off and did your own thing and that’s amazing. And they system based corporate thinking is helping you. Amazing!
The people living off grid are the happiest people
Greetings from Fairbanks.

Dang white beard makes me look older. ;-)
I truly admire your tenacity and strength, being true to yourself is so valuable and seeing you live your dream must be so rewarding. You go girl. ❤
Oh Alone,
This was just a VERY beautiful video, and I'm SO Happy that you put it out here! I'm also an Alaskan and though I'm not living remote, off grid, people do need to understand that Alaska is NOT for the weak, faint of heart, OR for those who wanna move here and try to live the way they did in the Lower48. #IYKYK😉
I LOVE the story of your Grandma..
I agree on staying active and being alone preparing for the future like your doing. Your dream was awesome with the Fortune Teller! ❤
You go girl! Speaking your truth all while living your dream.. I'm working towards the same dream❤
Alone this video was so creative, loved it, made me laugh., especially the marble and srinkflation.
What a wonderful and engaging video. Such beauty happening in the cabin and a delight to partake in and see!!
Awesome discussion. Personal integrity at a very high level. Many elements you address are my own... including my own search for satisfaction in life. Thank you.
Keep up the good work. You are doing great!!! More power to you.
Great video. Really enjoyed listening to your comments. You go girl.
Love you channel keep the content going we love the little skit you put in. Stay safe and have a great weekend.
The future looks marvelous for you! You will find that tweeking and adjusting your life as you see fit to your needs. Like you have already in life.
